>thermal cameras suitable for FPV drone use are now $200 on aliexpressdroneGODS can't stop winninghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHvNh0C43AU
On one hand the image quality is garbage, on the other hand its more than enough for cheap one way fpv drones with already garbage looking analog signal quality. You may not be able to make out details but you'd at least be able to tell how many people are in an area and differentiate a truck from a tank.
>>65169106It's even 50fps?IIRC thermals with such specs are ITAR controlled in US. Well...
>>65169124They also sell 640x480 camera for $600.
>>65169124>You may not be able to make out details but you'd at least be able to tell how many people are in an area and differentiate a truck from a tank. It's typical for IR drones I think, there's footage of such resolution being used to target mobiks. It's enough to detect a heat signature from range and then to target individual mobiks up close. Some anon posted a compilation video a few days ago that I can't find now. It was in a recent drone thread in response to a post about how Ukraine has developed a domestically produced IR camera for drones.
I wonder how well it would work on a speedy boy at night like a Nazgul. Probably very similar to the IR cams Ukraine uses for their night attacks on Russians.
>>65169187>Better than minimal resolution I legitimately might buy one of these just to fuck around with it.If it's not garbage and has a decent refresh rate, this+video glasses+rasp. pi and battery in a 3d printed shell = head mounted, lightweight, low profile sub $1000 thermal NV.
>>65169175You can buy em on alibaba or whatever chinese site and have em shiped to a location thst doesnt have your camera paying with google cards or whatever it is
>>65170066If I can figure out how to wire one of these onto a commercial off the shelf racing fpv drone I'd probably do it for the laughs.
>HD >256x192still neat tho
>>65170078Importation isn't restricted, right?
>>65170116Just buy the parts and a soldering iron yourself and roll your own 5 or 7 inch, hombre. There's literally no time like the present to try, because of the Ukr/Rus conflict, parts are rock bottom basement prices, it's unbelievable. Like as far as a 60-75% drop in component prices over the past few years. There are TONS of YouTube tutorials out there, and a million nerds on message boards that will absolutely help you figure out weird thermal integration, just on general principle or because they like the challenge.
>>65170980Where do u even start thoWhat YouTubers do u even look at for this stuff bc most things i find are for racing and idk where 2 begin
>>65171096Buy from a Hobby website oriented around drones like BetaFPV
>>65170980A highclass racing drone can be had for less than 500 bucks these days and doesnt require as much soldering or programming. In some cases the cameras are replaceable by design too. You are right that drones are cheaper than ever, I remember even 10 years ago and 700 dollars got you a slow DJI
have fun blowing up deer because every living creature shows up as a blob with that shitty resolution.
>>65171394>have fun blowing up deer becACK
>>65171394>have fun blowing up deer...you've just given me the most incredible idea for something to try next December when the season opens up.
>>65170066https://www.printables.com/model/1574767-pvs-gremlin-v2-50-fps-budget-640-thermal-monocularAlready a thing. Check the guys profile for more variants.
>>65169106>suitable for FPV drone useSure they are, dumbass.
>>65173273What do you think they are using...? In reality the ones they use are even a step more stripped down and when bought in bulk probably cost sub $100
>>65173273stfu if you are too retarded to figure it out
>>65169175>ITAR controlled in USthis is an export and non-citizen controlimport and possession for US citizens is basically not controllednot a lawyer
