>shotguns with specialized ammo and a competent operator are still the best solution to cheap fpv drones
>>
>>65172236
Is there smaller than birdshot ammo? Like micro pellets that spread a huge area?
>>
>>65172242
nah, there was some brand in the US that released quite a while ago some special load for drones, it's basically buckshot in a SABOT, rather than spreading too fast and missing a target in high altitude the SABOT keep the buckshot all together until a certain time, that way the buckshot don't spread too fast and you can hit target in higher altitude more accurately.

oh and there was also the whole Skynet thingy that nobody took seriously until now
>>
The thing about hitting drones is that 80% of soldiers are horrifically shit at deflection shooting, which is absolutely vital to reliably nail any flying object.

We must bring back skeet shooting in the military to combat the drone menace

Better yet, sporting clays (or one of the 'hardcore' variations, like 5-stand) to more accurately simulate the inherent randomness.

>clay shooting but the launcher throws the disks toward the shooter
Sounds fun

Even just having a solid grasp and practice with leading makes a huge difference. If I hadn't shot clay pigeons a lot back when, I would have missed my first buck (he was running)
>>
>>65172242
Actually small burdshot doesn't work against FPV drones, they are tougher than birds, burdshot just bounces off critical parts.
>>
>>65172273
Not a silly idea
>>
>>65172263
Because it's no longer practiced since it was deemed an obsolete skill decades ago
>>
>>65172304
Not just towards, AT the shooter, if you miss you get clayed in the face
That oughta keep 'em motivated
>>
>>65172236
>Posts a video of drones being shot with rifles
Thinking small-arms are the solution to drones is like thinking bayonets are the solution to infantry combat
>>
>>65172263
The thing about hitting drones is that 80% of the time they're hitting an unaware target and the Mk1 eyeball and human brain are a dogshit early warning system.

>it was deemed an obsolete skill decades ago
Up until the point it makes the difference between continuing to live, or being part of a war gore compilation video.

>Not just towards, AT the shooter, if you miss you get clayed in the face
Something-something train as you fight something-something
>>
>>65172236
Yes, if you can spot the drone approaching and are already ready for it and it comes into shotgun range which isn't the case a lot of the time
>>
>>65173306
>>65173326
Competed in 5 stand for ages with boomers at my range in Aus, one day we were fucking around had the two forwards flinging sheds flinging right at the shooters.

Good fucking fun and laughs were had. Just mandatory safety glasses and its pretty low risk
>>
>>65172263
And solving that is the entire purpose clay pigeons were invented 150 years ago, nitwit
>>
>>65173274
Steel shot shreds plastic propellers just fine
>>
>>65172242
You want buckshot preferable. Look at how much mass the PGS anti drone round has, it is a fucking slug.

>>65173274
It's not that it bounces, it's that it just goes right through the frame without slowing the drone down or cutting off critical components. It is not enough mass, and you need a lot of mass for something moving this fast with so little surface area.

>>65173421
If it's on the ground, the propellers are not moving, and you shove the barrel right on the edge of a blade? Sure. For an actual situation you might as well be trying to shoot a needle out of the air with a sniper rifle.
>>
>>65172236
>specialized ammo
Tungsten turkey loads
>>
>>65173420
As anon mentioned here: >>65173291 militaries don't practice clays (they fucking should). Also, most soldiers are innately submediocre at leading shots; training will make them mostly adequate, at best, instead of genuinely proficient. A Hans-Joachim Marseille-tier native talent is very rare.
>>
>>65172236
If you rely on competent operators against a $300 a pop weapon then you’re going to have a bad time
