>fly really fucking aggressively as bait>just don't get hit
>>65172724When I see something cool posted like this, there's only once sentence of why they are cool. Which, don't get me wrong, that sounds cool as fuck --but then it memes itself.Like, I think Mikie Vining but it became impossible to learn anything about his career on /k/ because da meems.
>>65172750Well I'm not trying to meme, I just think the tactic is ballsy as hell and therefore based. But Mike Vining is almost more of a sacred cow than a meme
What was the preferred plane for this during Vietnam?
>>65172724The blood, sweat and tears of the wild weasel was probably the most meaningful sacrifice to western military thought in recent memory. They built.a powerful legacy that still kills SAMs today.YGBSM
>>65173261super sabers, thunderchiefs and eventually phantoms
>>65173261Started off with F-100F then converted to the signature F-105Fs and Gs. The F-4 variant had all kinds of problems with the electronics and really didn't get online until Linebacker I and II
>>65172724I always loved the Wild Weasel mission; you are literally in a duel with the thing that, its sole purpose, is to kill you. Same why I like anti-ship with jets. You have a crew of hundreds on a frigate or destroyer, again, with weapons designed to kill you, and you have a Harpoon or Exocet alone in your plane. It is like David and Goliath.
>>65172724Wild Weasel is my favorite mission in DCS and I do them in everything from A-10s to Apaches for shits and giggles.I can't imagine how shit it must have been when guided bombs were rare and you were expected to get a cluster on target with dive tables and no CCIP / CCRP.
>>65172750mike is just cool because he got to operate during one of the more fun time periods to operate and he lived to talk about it. it also helps that he just looks like shop teacher.
