I've noticed these different boutique gun lube companies popping up (picrel: gunsauce / Sauce Weapon Lubricants). They seem to have premium branding and their actual lube products are pretty expensive... the other half of what they sell seems to be all branded merch. What's the deal? Does their stuff really command such a premium? How does it compare to just using some cheap CLP or other simpler gun lube like Slip2000?
Engine oil.Simple as that.
>>65176630That little bottle of Lucas gun oil at the auto parts store for $5, I own two of them and I put that shit on everything.
Money laundering.
>>65176630its just a generic oil with surfactants, colorants, and maybe a few additives that might(?) do somethingyou're quite literally as well off using odorless baby oil (i.e., mineral oil)if you're doing a carry / home defense gun though, actually use a legit proven brand, just in casebetter to have something that is known for always working every time, than some rando pakistani mystery oil
Ballistol goes in everything. Fuck bougie boutique shit.
>>65176630For guns, it doesnt really matter a whole lot. It's not like we're picking out an oil for an engine. They all lubricate, the biggest difference is capillary and anti corrosion properties.Just use whatever you have.Because I work in aviation, I have access to free products that are "expired" for aircraft use. LP2, Aeroshell 33, and Corrosion X are generally my go-to. As long as my stuff doesn't corrode, I'm happy.
>>65176630i always use hoppes but my lgs stopped selling it so i'm going to try that lucas gun oil thing whenever i run out.
>>65176630it's literally just brandslop for gun guys. pretty much exactly the same thing that 'liquid death' does for fucking water. that's why you're "so happening to conveniently notice" that there's a few guntubers that have picked up and shout out this product that is totally not another sponsor.>>65176648>>65176762also this. i use lucas gun oil because i'd much rather trust that with their pedigree in other lubricating/oil products and now being a reputable name in the competitive automotive world.. yaknow, somewhere where they might have had to deal with issues regarding extreme temperatures, carbon accumulation, and metal on metal components wearing over thousands and thousands of repetitions.
>>65176751I've read that Aeroshell 33 is generally recommended in rifles to avoid friction welding; ex. buffer tube threading
>>65176815but bro... it's sriracha..... but for your gun.......
>>65176630Real Niggas Know
>>65176870>>65176826>>65176630I use this on my peenor the mtn dew is fastest
>>65176630Slip2000 is the only one worth paying a little extra for.
>>65176885Drakin Your Josh, Niggahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhwtMOjWerg
Coomoil is the best.
Synthetic motor oil and ATF mix. Synthetic motor oil and red grease mix for thicker stuff that won't run as easy. For cleaning, Ed's red with white gas subbed for kerosene, because I don't keep kerosene in my shed. Don't bother using the lanolin in it either. If you want to find out whatever is in your fancy expensive garbage just look up the SDS materials data sheet, and you can generally mimic it yourself
>>65176639This mixed with a little red n tacky to make it stick where you want it
>>65176895I also use a mineral oil and vaseline mix for any tools. Dirt cheap and non-toxic. Not paying for fancy lube, sorry.
>>65176826Bunch of hipsters. At least respect the farmer with the best red jalapenos.
>>65176630Me personally, I use the cum lube on my BCM bcg
>>65176630I use clenzoil cuz of the project farm review
>>65176630All you need is (1) a light synthetic oil, (2) a grease and (3) a light spray lube for when you can't be fucked to disassemble shit to lube it properly. CLP is a marketing meme; companies started using it when they put solvents into their oil to make them flow better and any of them with enough grunt to meaningfully clean anything are going to be shitting where they eat.I personally use the lucas extreme duty for oil, STOS for grease (fuck that stuff is great) and G96 for a spray. If you're going to be shooting in ridiculously cold weather for whatever reason or if you're going to be slathering oil on your guns for storage, break free makes really good products.
>>65177053I just cum on my bcg
>>65177126Genuinely curious how well cum would work as a lube
>>65176630Somebody redpill me on SOTARacha - what is the hype behind it, does it work, and why is it good?
>>65177094A man of high class and culture
>>65176898Do not use this in handguns or with silencers.
i just use whatever is on sale. hoppe's, clp, shrug
>>65177408Why shouldn't it be used with handguns?
>>65177619Seconded, wouldn't you want something a bit thicker with a handgun?
>he doesn't use greaseEnjoy your sloppy, runny bullshit that doesn't last and costs a gorillion dollars for a small bottle, consooomer. I like Super Lube because it's food safe.
>>65177819>sloppy, runny bullshitIs this the main argument of oil vs grease?>costs a gorillion dollars for a small bottleWhat if I don't buy into the hype and buy something cheaper? What then?
Mineral oil doesn't have enough for sobriety; you something yellow that has sulfur in it. Don't use motor oil, it has too many additives, and some of them can affect gun parts. A basic 3-in-1 or CLP oil is perfect.
>>65176630made for gun penetration
>>65177997Post this when you penetratin'
>>65176630it's just generic grease that these hypeshit companies mix with food dye. just use clenzoil and call it a day
i use mpro7 and froglube, works well
>>65177094For some reason that shit is impossible to find in leafland, so I'm sticking with ballistol for now.
>>65178019Is that really all it is though? Gun Butter, for example, seems to have quite the reputation behind it.... even touting police and military procurement for their products, apparently. Not doubting you, I'm just curious if that's really all it takes for these companies to sell these products. Makes me want to start my own brand and start shipping this stuff out.
>>65176820I dunno about buffer tubes but I use it on all my AR barrel nuts.
>>65178351That's where the cum comes from :D
>>65177398shit goes great with a banh mi
>>65176630Bought a RIA VR60 and the directions said to use Lucas Synthetic Gun Oil. I asked Pedro at Armscor what that was about and he said some lubes will make the glass reinforced plastic foreend and buttstock delaminate.
>>65176648Yep. Read my other post number six-fifty-one-786-18.
>>65176630Search for lubeanon in the archives. There was a long and very deep dive into gun lube.
My favorite lube test with lots of different types. https://youtu.be/UwB17A3egGU
>>65176648I have no idea what kind of company they're running, but all I know is that when I bought some CLP from their guy at a major regional hunting event, he was basically the only cash-only vendor in the whole place. Good product though, I'm gonna stick with em
>>65178228yes, most commonly they're just white lithium greasehttps://www.ar15.com/forums/general/-ARCHIVED-THREAD-School-of-American-Rifle-AR-Lube-and-AR-Lubrication/5-2396272/?page=1#i89374356https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Best-grease-for-home-brew-lube--Motor-Oil---Synthetic-grease-mix-/7-759311/this is pertaining to the overhyped "SOTARacha" that SOTAR "invented" in particular but it's also talking about grease as a whole. You are seriously better off just using whatever CLP you have with you
>>65177143>Alkaline>Water based>proteinsfucking horribly?
>>65176630They're lyfestyle brands. You are cool and trendy and edgy, right?
>>65178849Im here son, now Im Lubricant Scientist doing work on development, fair traids and production lines in yurope. Was the right step to move to bavaria to farm knowledge in a chemical company :3 Im doing coolants for CNC, cutting oils, rust protectants, drawing oils (brass cup driwing for ammo), stamping/rolling oils... and soon industrial cleaners. Right now im alone in production and make a 2000L batch of rust protectant for metall pipe production, needs to be shipped on wednesday. Now i got no worry about storage, production amd so on when it comes to Coomoil and the others
Brand new 200ml bottles for gun cleaner :3
>>65178618The turkshit shotgun delams from fucking lube? And they're supposed to be TACTICAL shotguns you go to war with? Ukrainians are actually going to war with this shit?
>>65176630For me? It's gun oil.
>>65176630OMG purple, green, blue oils??? SO.YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
>>65176630>What's the deal?Every expensive hobby WILL create a class of parasitic snake oil salesmen trying to convince you that you HAVE to buy their shit or you will be dead in the streets (and might not even bother partaking in the hobby to begin with because you're a casual poorfag pleb).See also>audio equipment & hi-fi>bikes>cars
>>65179307Seconded. I got burned on a Carver subwoofer and it sounds like an old man shitting chunka at a taco bell after diablo sauce. Honestly sounds like a fucking cheap $50 amazon car sub. Rest of my carver gear is solid so I dunno wtf happened.
>>65176630>>What's the deal? Does their stuff really command such a premium?Basedification of the gun market due to reddit homosexuals.Just buy coomlube like a normal /k/ommando if you want an actually good product instead of overpriced mediocre garbage for people who collect funkopops.
I don't use lube. why would you use a weapon that requires lubing?I haven't lubed my AR in thousands of rounds.morons.
/k/ is a european ukraine board and no one has a gun to 'lube' anyway. time for another vidya guns thread or something
I bought some random nanoparticle oil lube thing some /k/ommando advertised years ago on here, still works great.
>>65179307I don't think a group more mentally ill than audiophiles exists
>>65179769>I don't think a group more mentally ill than audiophiles exists
If you can't order your CLP of choice in a gallon or liter container then its some dogshit hypebeast shit made for marks.
>>65179307I'm getting into drones and its a breath of fresh air because all the shit civilians are gonna use comes from China anyways and the Ukraine war has made the parts you'd want be priced at rock bottom.
>>65179776Have you seen the cables Audiophiles buy?
>>65179850Monster $100 8k hdmi cables, yeahThey then fangirl over specific brands. You got Bose guys, SVS guys, Klipsch guys, Martin Logan guys, Carver guys, etc.I'm a carver dude but Bob cut corners on the Sunfire subs like he owed somebody money. Problems left and right.
>>65179870I feel like its such a scam because you then have to find media made for such high quality of audio equipment since the average song is optimized around 10 dollar earbuds.
>>65179875Lossless FLACs or run something like SACDs. Also nobody buy a Sunfire subwoofer, fucking horrible experience so far. Sounds like an old man blowing chunks at taco bell. Was trying to listen to Muse - Butterflies & Hurricanes but it sounds like Hernia - Gallstones and Final Expense Benefits.
>>65179830again, money laundering. Do you think some twig in his mom's basement is jerking off his spank into different quantities of motor oil and other stuff is actually making sales? He's really selling femboy ass and needs ways to clean the cash
>>65179830Isn't CLP dogshit as a lubricant tho?
>>65176685t h i s
That shit is for men who didn't have dads to teach them how to clean guns. All the gimmick shit is for fatherless men.
>>65176820Just use anti-seize on threads that are prone to galling.
>>65180306>teach them how to clean gunsYeah it's not exactly difficult. What does using an expensive lubricant have to do with cleaning?
>>65176630Ive bought small bottle of green brunox two years ago for about tree fiddy and its still like 1/3 full.It just werks.
>>65179838There are no elitists in quadcopter land because every elitist retard with a high end prebuilt quad is going to show up on race day and get beat by some kid who spends multiple hours per day in the race drone sim with a $200 chinkdrone. There's no benefit to having fancy shit when skill cannot be purchased.
>>65177094Yep, all you really need. Though I’m a sucker for scented things and love scented candles. So I might snag one of the lubes from OP’s pic
>>65179410>vidya gunsWe do geopolitics now
>>65179171I hate those kind of pallets, they fall apart so easily
>>65177819It must not get very cold where you live.
>>65177398That dude is a fucking meme, and I'm fairly sure he does it as a very strange form of performative satire, like Sasha Baron Cohen
>>65176630>people care about their guns, willing to spend money on a higher quality product to take care of them>don't really have any way to tell which products are high quality>the gun lube is easy to manufacture with little investment, since basically any kind of oil compound that doesn't smell too weird or ignite at the gun's operating temperature can do an adequate job>sold in tiny quantities compared to most similar products, low barrier of entry, but can't rely on economies of scale, need a fairly high profit margin to stay in businessSome markets are just like that. You'd better hope it's just rebranded motor oil in there, because if they tried to get fancy with it, the odds are about even on whether it works better or worse than literal mayonnaise.
>>65176826$11 and I get a reason to say "cock sauce" constantly? Sign me up
You can just buy food grade mineral oil: use it on your gun, lube your cutting board, take 3tbsp if you're constipated, use it for jacking off, mix it with parafin wax to make canvas into oilskin. Shit does everything
>>65177398He didn't invent it. That's just the bootleg version of some other hype oil I think is off the market now. Came with a whole blogpost (which I can no longer find) explaining why it was better and the tl;dr is that higher viscosity means better wear resistance. It works but so does pretty much anything. It's cheap but so is straight motor oil.
Good Lord, this looks like shit that someone whose wife has a boyfriend would have
>>65181037Haha that Onions Jack meme guy is really funny! Have you heard of Giga Chad?
>>65181057There's nothing wrong with being a purveyor of antique memes
>>65176630When the hotsauce fags need another thing to obsess over.
>>65179162Glad to hear ya still around man. I've still got some of your shit, probably will for awhile because I'm a lazy burger who loves CLP and can't be arsed to do a 2 step cleaning process.
>>65181072Is hot honey still a thing? I swear Men's Health must've put out an article at some point suggesting hot sauce raises test levels
>>65178849Qrd?
>>65179162I bought a bottle of the coom oil and it works great. Would recommend.
>>65181525Is there a link to this product? I keep seeing it mentioned and now I'm curious.
Just use Crisco and apply it with a popsicle stick, then celebrate your lubed gun with some nice cheese curds
Just fucking use gun butterYeah you need something else to get corrosion off but gun butter is the best loob on the markit
>>65181170>Is hot honey still a thing? IYes, and it goes great on pizza. I need to experiment more with it honestly.
>>65180693I cant just take a few out to work with so i need to dump all of them in bags and than cartons to prevent dust getting in so the spray caps wont clog later. Really hate that>>65181091Test my gun cleaner when its in the USA, that shit is fun to use. CLP gonna be part of your past then :)>>65181525Thanks man, Coom works great and in a few years im making it in the USA. Got 3 years left than i move there>>65181529Search for "moka raifus", thats a k webshop and also look for Gold Guard. Thats the rust protectant. Enjoy Goon Glock

>>65181704Search for gun oil on the website or visit nano-arms.com
>>65176630CHECKMATE LIBERULS........
>>65180104It dries/burns off kind of quickly, that’s all.Mil-spec synthetic CLPs are formulated to work in a fairly broad temperature range, they don’t generally gum up, and it seems they also do a pretty good job of reducing friction and resistance (but firearms are not especially picky about this anyways). If you are okay with reapplying them often then they’re solid for most things. If I had to recommend a one-and-done solution for a lazy/casual gun owner it would be a big spray bottle of Break Free CLP, it’s easy to apply without weird drawbacks and will last long enough for the few hundred rounds they’re likely to fire at a maximum in a single range session.
>>65181665Are you the German anon that developed the oil? I've heard good things about it
>>65182164Yeah, i upgraded the formulation back in 2022 and made it more stick and alot mire rust inhibiting. Never had any complain fro problems or rust out of 1000+ units sold, thats good because it overkill. There is another upgrade in the room to decrease friction and wear firther but idk when i can buy those chamicals (many Ks for a barrel)
>>65182249Well whenever you can make a new batch, please let us know so we can support your small business
>>65182382Im not making money with it, more like -1€ per sold unit :D Im just happy to see it getting used and while doing that adding local gun shops to order it into inventory really helps, so shilling it to your LGS or friends is best. also giving feedback so i can improve the products
>they don't know
>>65180639>What does using an expensive lubricant have to do with cleaning?I think when one is clueless about something they're pretty easy to trick or take advantage of. Like when you see a desk jockey try being outdoorsy or look under the hood of a car, they don't know what they're fucking doing or looking at, that sort of guy. Those guys always come to mind for me because they have the money to go ALL-IN on a brand new hobby they know literally nothing about and so it takes no work convincing them to part with even more money
