It is precisely because the Seals are always hiding their fuck-ups that he wanted to show his experience, hoping that people learn from it.

When meeting the Taliban on the ground without readily available airpower, western forces got stalemated and even beaten in plenty of admittedly small-scale engagements, sometimes while substantially outnumbering the Taliban (shoutout to Kaka Abdul Khaliq of Pashmul, wrecker of Canadian pride).
