Don't shoot 'em much (the .41mag was the first pistol I ever bought, so sentimental) and the .44 Special stays at my dad's house in the night stand because he likes it. Really though, the only thing that matters to any shooter is finding something you like. I personally like stuff that has a fairly wide range of versatility, so most of my faves are pretty standard old-school fare. The only real exception is the .444, which I use specifically for about 3 weeks every year during elk season when they are in the brush. The .300WM goes for the rest of that season when the terrain is a lot more open. '06 or .308 for everything else and the .12ga Super is great for geese in steel-shot-only restricted reserves (also flings a shitlooad of buckshot for home security purposes).

They were really popular back in their day, and they're still around, lots of them left (and also in Europe, where FNH made it as their 1908). You can still get one in decent condition for an agreeable price, and in either caliber.>What calibers do you like anons?I kind of like most of them. Questions of caliber is primarily application, and then you weigh that against preferences.
