Bell-Atlanta B-29-65-BA
USAAF serial number 44-84111
license built by Bell Aircraft Company at the plant in Cobb County, Marietta, Georgia : one of four huge new factories nationwide specially constructed to build the Superfortress and mass produce the most complex aircraft yet conceived by human beings.
44-84111 was delivered to the United States Army Air Forces from Bell-Atlanta on 18th August 1945 just after the atomic bombs had been dropped, immediately prior to end of the war. Like many late production B-29s this plane was assigned to special tasks: with 2759th Air Force's Base Unit at Muroc Field, California (later named Edwards Air Force Base).
In late 1947—after the U.S. Air Force was established—44-84111 was modified by McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri to carry, launch, and retrieve the XF-85 experimental 'parasite' fighter; it was redesignated EB-29B and flown from St. Louis to Muroc AFB, California on 26 May 1948. The modified bomber was given the nickname "Monstro" (after the whale in the animated film 'Pinocchio'), and later assigned to HQ Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida where it was damaged from fire on 7 September 1951, and after that assigned to the Air Force Armament Center at Eglin and was damaged 5 December 1952 on the ground. "Monstro" was reclaimed as scrap 14 July 1954.

captured by Watson's Whizzers, given the USAAF Foreign Evaluation serial number FE-612

what if the Chinese weaponize these?

they run on diesel and their factory in Austria bangs them out for about $1,000,000 in high end lux civy config, so figure about 1/2 if they started banging them out en mass in China.

For comparison, a Super Taco COIN costs about $20M, or 40x as much. Sure the ST comes with some semi-fancy mil-targeting, and is faster and tougher, but still.

currently rated the SAFEST civilian aircraft in the world. very strong cabin construction. 7 seater that can also carry big items like fully assembled bikes.

>>
>>65221988
For a second I saw 4 enginges, 2 over the wings and 2 under, and it made me wonder if that would work. I don't think I've ever seen anyone try such a config.
