I have been using a salt rifle for home defense. The floors of my apartment are littered with the bodies of my enemies. The only good bug is a dead bug.

What are your go to weapons for home/bbq defense?

Hell yeah! I hand to hand ants when I see one. My thumbs have countless kills.

Someone's not even getting up from the couch.

Gone skeet(er) shooting yet? I've heard people say they can hit flies in the air but the incapacitating range on these is so short I hardly believe it.

Im debating upgrading to the Shredder for more stoppan powah but the proprietary cartridge rings are a huge turn off.
>>65187589
Its certainly possible but all of my midairs have been winging(heh) hits which require an execution follow up.

cause i want fucking salt everywhere

I've never seen one of those for sale here in Brazil, which is fucking absurd cause I've seen these things in action against mosquitoes and they'd be super effective against the dengue fever mosquitoes we have here.

What if I need to salt a steak across the yard?
>>
What range are you guys getting with these? They seem like fun and I get a ton of flies in my backyard because of my chickens
>>
>>65189283
It's around six to 8 inches to kill, farther than that and you tend to just kind of piss them off unless it's a really small fly. More than range, the benefit to these is a higher PK, flies don't dodge salt like they do fly swatters.

The Shred-er is a custom version of the $89 Crosman Vigilante, which is more powerful, can shoot real BBs and Pellets, and it works with Shred-er cylinders. Only downside is you're putting salt through a steel barrel (the Shred-er has a plastic barrel) which isn't great for it. You can also load salt into cylinders yourself, Vigilante cylinder, Shred-er, 3D printed, doesn't matter they all work fine. It was more appealing when the Shred-er retailed for $150 and a Vigilante could be found for under $80, but it's being phased out by Crosman so both have leveled out in price and are less readily available than they once were.

All that>>65189358 plus those salt guns need that extra power for hard shelled bugs like roaches. OP's pic would need 4-5 point blank shots just to down those fuckers. I do wonder how the 3.5 Widow Maker fairs against roaches though.

Has /k/ done a write up on these salt guns? I've always found them pretty interesting. I've known about them for years and just recently was looking them up last year, never realized they had went through several reversions along with different variants from when I first learned about them.

I had a Mogadishu style running gun battle with hornets with one of these bad boys on my porch. While naked. At 3pm. I live in a high rise in the middle of downtown. WITNESS ME

>The OG, the Lawn-and-Garden which fires a heavier load, then the 2.0 which is a little more powerful, the 2.5 which has further upgraded internals and is smoother and easier to use, and now the 3.0 which is the most powerful one they've made yet and has a much better trigger than previous versions. Sadly they don't do the Lawn-and-Garden anymore.

>They've also got the Shred-Er, which is a CO2 powered Crossman revolver reskinned in yellow shooting preloaded salt pellets. It's genuinely overpowered and really shouldn't be used indoors, it'll easily embed salt into your walls and take paint off of whatever, it's a dangerous little shit and I highly recommend it. You're meant to buy preloaded salt cartridges/cylinders, but you can manually reload them, just takes a little work.

>Salt choice matters. They still sell their "High Performance" salt, and it genuinely is way better than table salt. Cheap table salt is like birdshot, their "High Performance" salt is like buckshot, you get noticeably better range and more killing power. Thankfully, it's really cheap and easy to make yourself instead of buying theirs for $9/lb. It's just a coarse salt with way more anti-caking additives than you normally expect. Pick up some Coarse Kosher Salt, runs $3.50 for 3lbs at Walmart, and add two tablespoons of baking soda for every pound of salt, shake and mix furiously. That's it, you've recreated their $9/lb "High Performance" salt for <$1.50/lb. Enjoy ripping limbs off at what used to be "lightly-stunned" distances.

The 3.5 is just an accessory pack, internally it is just a 3.0, and the accessory pack isn't nice quality. The foregrip pump action is shit, the stock is shit, the laser sight is shit. It's fun, but that's all. Compare the overall build quality (especially the injection molding) to a Nerf gun and Bug-A-Salt's have all been pretty sad. I'd kill for Hasbro or Tippmann to make a salt shooter.

I tend to use a super soaker loaded with Spider Out for that. Gives you increased range over the spray bottle and great for dealing with large groups of them

Can you put some grounded up red pepper in that?

i do the aerosol flamethrower for wasps when i find their nests.

You guys buy nerf guns to blast the bugs? I just take my old sawned off and put salt rounds in it
>>
>>65187461
i prefer the rubber band rifle for bug genozide:
-no salt to clean up
-reusable band
-band length adjusts impact energy: you can cut 'em in half or de-wing them (for the death match in the jam glas)
-you can smash the wounded with the butt stock

i love it

>No salt to clean up
>Rubber bands to fetch every time though
I fear for the man firing a salt gun so often there's so much salt you can't just sweep it away with your hand at worst though. He needs a machine gun, not a salt gun. Normally the worst part of these is actually cleaning windows; there's a judge even if you do t kill the bug,but that would also happen a bit with rubber bands.
