Is there like a national ranking of SWAT teams? Does LA have the best? Miami the worst? Or are they all about the same?
>>
idk but I do know that this thread is either a veiled chinkspammer thread in the first place, or is going to quickly attract the chinkspammer who posts that annual SWAT competition in Dubai where the chinks send in a team of what are effectively actors, choreographing year-round for the competition instead of doing actual SWAT work. then they mog LAPD, NYPD, and other global SWAT teams that actually do police work for the rest of the year instead of rehearsing a script

someone post the video please so other anons know what I mean
>>
>>65190893
They’ll have competitions but it’s usually small selected teams which may or may not be made up of the best guys available and rarely serve as an accurate representation of the job. At the end of the day being a cop isn’t about being the most tacticool guy possible and preservation of life is the goal. Popping gas rounds into a window just isn’t all that interesting to look at though.

While there are numerous regional, national, and even international SWAT competitions, there's no real scale to grade their performance with one another unless you decide to meticulously research every single department and compare stats like how often they get called out and amount of suspects they've arrested.

LAPD wrote the book on SWAT and they are in my hometown, so I will always say that the LAPD SWAT is the best. I will say that European SWAT looks the best.

the worst is gonna be some podunk department that doesn't have the budget or time to train much or very well. but it's not something you can really rank in a meaningful way just from the outside

Cop Navy Blue is iconic, any PD that switches to multicam uniforms is obviously an inferior force.
>>
>>65190934
This is the first time I've seen this and my immediate reaction is that this competition is baloney. When is any cop going to be in a situation where he needs to crawl under a table, over 2 pyramid shaped walls, yank a rifle out of a vehicle, engage targets in the prone, ditch his rifle, and carry a body
This is dumber than most of the 80s cop movies I've seen.

What criteria do you imagine you can use to rank SWAT teams?

Unless we are excluding everything but city/county level SWAT teams I feel like the Federal Protective Forces aka the DOE guard is probably the best. Seems like the optimal intersection of private and public standards and everyone involved has a good interest in making sure things go smoothly. Not to conspiracy theory this shit but you also hear fucking nothing from them or about them and unless for some reason every faction on Earth has decided to generously leave US nuclear materials alone, whenever they act it is quick and quiet enough to cause no disturbances.

Well, I can only think of 2 times nuclear stuff got stolen from the US and both times for some reason nothing much was done about it.

Frankly, I don't respect SWAT. They're bullshit, with mostly chaff and not much wheat in terms of both utility and actual mission-profile.
Y'know those firefighter competitions people organize? They're cool. I respect those.
>>
>>65190893
>Is there like a national ranking of SWAT teams?
No
>Or are they all about the same?
Don't know about USA but I've actually talked with a EU swat team.
They all have different capabilities because missions are different:
- tracking an armed suspect in the woods
- responding to a hostage situation
- coordinating a response to a full scale terrorist attack
- operating in bio hazard / nuclear environment
- extracting personnel in a foreign country (embassy)
- responding quickly to a low to mid scale threat in a small remote town
- boarding a hijacked plane
The list goes on but you get the idea that some teams are better trained than other on some mission types.

>>65191116
There's a very good reason why these international tank/police/etc competitions aren't taken too seriously in the west, whereas in the third world/face culture part of the world they would gladly let people starve or die of disease in order to have a world class group of performers that are really good at a specific obstacle course.

LAPD created the concept, and it a well respected full time unit.

>>65190931
The private nuclear power plant teams win all the time because they don’t have much to do besides practice. I took a carbine class here and the instructor was some retired NC DPS SWAT guy bragging on how they always place high at the events but they again, aren’t exactly kicking doors 24/7 IRL.

>>65190990
Many smaller agencies have regional teams, but it’s crazy how so many small to medium agencies have their own team. Like just let the county or state handle it. My former PD had 350 officers and maybe 8 full time SWAT and 15-20 guys who were patrol or SRO’s.

>>65191000
That’s how it was when I came on in 94. My last federal agency issued us Navy blue ERT uniforms (we didn’t have a SWAT team, more for high viz events).

>>65191030
Having been a cop and a fed and served on a high speed spooky team, it’s gay as fuck for local cops to be wearing Multicam and $800 Crye uniforms to look like Delta Force. My former team did our CQD training at the same place SEAL BUDS Phase 2’is done and the instructors ragged on LE SWAT teams who brag about “doing 100 warrants last year” when they are able to do slow and methodical searches, have 12mman stacks, hold the entire inner and outer perimeter and usually just surprise dudes in bed. Contrast that to a Tier 1,
Direct Action Element who has to fight their way into a totally hostile enemy stronghold, encounter highly motivated enemies and then limit themselves to limited in scene, then fight their way out. Having seen both, it’s cringemaxx.

>>65191293
DHS FPS are uniformed site security. They may have some type of building QRD, but they are 1801 uniformed fed police not “operators”. You are thinking of the DOE nuclear material couriers who are amongst the most high speed Fed teams, not so much for the danger but for the ROE and mission.

firefighters are mostly fake too. there's a massive over-supply compared to the number of fires in modern construction because they are the helpful unthreatening face of local government.

So then they get cross-trained as EMS and spend 85% of their time acting as an taxi for Sequesha to go to the ER because little DeTravious has a cough.

THIS

And then there's South America and their kind of SWATS. They mog all others in certain way, because even rookies have killcount bigger than retired veteran/pro from northern hemisphere. Like, cleaning favelas without armour and helmets since it reduces your reaction speed/time and visibility... But they kinda suck in PROPER police work, like apprehanding suspect without zeroing him. This is just to illustrate the point anon stated in his post - every SWAT team excells in different niche.

Kek, kinda true. In CZ, one such SWAT team, responsible for guarding our NPP Temelín, was allowed to participate in the perp hunting since they were bored as fuck and were bitching about it for a long time. And they performed very well :D

Btw in CZ we do have something like competition for regional SWAT (Zásahová jednotka) teams, and the winner changes from time to time. It means quality standard is high. Sometimes even URNA participates (handpicked members of SWAT in EXTRA unit, literally cream of the crop, the best), but funnily they do not win, since everyone else is motivated to outperform them :D

Idk if Finland's SWAT teams compete with each other but oddly enough the most successful one in international competition has been the Oulu SWAT team instead of Karhu from the capital
>>
>>65190931
NRA used to host a competition for gov agencies. It'd be multistage regionals. You'd still have people that would fly around from other regions just to attend. Some of the guys would train for the competition . Others would just show up. Courses were always completely different and couldn't tell anybody what to expect on course to give them a leg up or would get disqualified form that run. Border Patrol always dominated it. Not by a little, complete domination.
>>
>>65190911
Those were always funny to watch. Could tell they had the course provided to them and memorized. They were running without checking to see if any targets to engage because they knew where targets would be so were practically engaging out of muscle memory. If a target was moved a foot in any direction they'd have completely wiped out, especially if it was just first target to fuck with them and throw their rhythm off.

Well, most of these competitions are NOT public, desu. It is just internal competition for shits and giggles (and proper dick measuring). It is like police football cup (soccer for burgers), it happens, can be even international, but you will almost NEVER hear about it, since it is performed among various police departments. Same goes for this.

>Oulu SWAT team
Sadly I do not know them, must be ebin team :D I bet they can get shit done, as the most of SWATs in Evropa.

>>65195135
>Border Patrol always dominated it. Not by a little, complete domination.
Shooting border-jumping spics and coyotees must pay off :D Should not be even joke. In CZ, if such competition happnes, usually OS (Ochranná služba, protection service, think bodyguards) wins, even better shooters than our SWAT members. They train a lot, and since they must not harm VIP/witnesses or innocent bystanders, their training is very rigorous. And it pays off during competitions.
>>
>>65195401
>Sadly I do not know them
They finished 2nd in some international police competition in 2013. I had trouble finding any info now despite reading about it back then
