Beretta 92X Compact vs Beretta P4X Compact Carry. I've been kicking back and forth on what I want. The P4X is thinner overall, but the 2 guns (according to the beretta website) have the same weight despite the 92x compact being alloy. So is the rotating barrel worth it? Or should I focus on the reliability and dependability of the 92x compact? Or are they close to the same for reliability?
>>65199554The px4 was about to be completely disconnected until Langdon bought a bunch of cheap ones and modded them for the youtube crowd. Then suddenly everybody wants a px4. I always liked the px4 but it was never popular until recently and not because it's a better gun than the 92. The 92 is the logical option the px4 is the fashionable zeitgeist option.
The PX4 will feel more comfortable to shoot because of the plastic frame and the rotating barrel. Reliability is entirely dependent on the gun that actually ends up in your hands. You have to go to the range and test it with the ammo you intend run through it for self defense.
Isn't the 92x compact over $1k?
>>65199554>>65199616Are there alternative grips? I really would like one in .40 but the super smooth grips are so off putting
>>65199616The shitalians made a good gun internally, but fucked it up by using a different magazine design from the 92, and secondly, I thought Italians were supposed to be good at styling? The PX4's slide is the ugliest fucking thing about the whole gun. I own one, and as long as you give it the paper bag treatment, it performs well for you.
>>65199554I don't have any personal experience with the 92X. But, I do own and have carried a PX4 compact carry with the LT bells and whistles. It's a very good trigger. It's more accurate than you'd expect for a gun of its size. Probably have better than a thousand rounds through it, and the only malfunctions it has ever had were user induced (my fault entirely; don't ride the slide kids). I've heard very good things about its life expectancy and reliability into the tens of thousands of rounds. It is soft shooting for its size and weight. Is that because of the rotating barrel? I think so, but I don't have empirical evidence to back that up, only my experience with similar sized guns that do not have rotating barrels. For me, the ergonomics are great. It fits my hand very well and points very naturally. For my personal peace of mind when carrying; DA/SA w/decocker is top tier; just below that would be a cocked and locked 1911. The only things I'm not a big fan of are the blacked out rear sights and the low profile decocker lever. Why give me a tritium front sight, but nothing in the back to line it up against? Isn't the point of tritium sights to make it easier to use in low light? How the hell am I supposed to do that with blacked out rear sights? Makes no sense to me. That said, there isn't anything wrong with them, and they're fine in conditions where you have good light (which is all I'd be shooting in anyway because I don't want to be taking shots at a target I can't see, that's just dumb). The low profile decocker lever can be difficult to manipulate with the thumb of the hand you're holding the gun with, but if you're at a point where you're decocking the gun you're at a point where you can use your other hand or change your grip if you need to.
>>65199616The PX4 is objectively smaller, lighter and softer recoiling, all extremely important attributes for a carry gun. How would a heavier, larger, harsher recoiling gun be superior? By what measure do you judge that?
>>65200158>By what measure do you judge thatThe gun in my hand being better than the one in your dreams
>>65200158the 92 doesnt have a slippery grip and is less likely to limpwrist. no, 'lift more' not an argument. there are guns that do and dont fte when limpwristing so we know its a design flaw.
>>65199554The px4 compact feels more like a g19 or other compact gun when carried. The 92 compact, to me, feels akin to carrying a full size. It's compact in name and by technical dimensions, but I can't comfortable iwb one. My dad's px4 compact I can iwb all day.I personally carry a cheetah though.
>>65199975>super smooth gripsI put talon tape on mine....problem solved
>>65199554I've owned both. The PX4 is objectively better at everything aside from hoarding and handing out to tards if something happens.
>>65200158If you ever plan to suppress.
The Px4 is far better and if you want a metal version get an 8000 (or Stoeger Cougar), each available in a mini/Compact variant92s are more antiquated than 1911s
>>65199616Tend to agree, though as a 92X centurion owner keep an eye on quality. Had to replace a locking block under 5k rounds and the screws for the optics plate sheared off just after that.
The PX4 Compact Carry 2 is the best conceal carry option today. It's what I grab 95% of the time. Easier to conceal than my Glock 19 and shoots like a full-size despite being a polymer compact. Only downside is it doesn't take 92 mags
>>65200570>Excerpt from page 3 of the beretta promotional scriptBravo anon
>>65200575Believe it or not there are gun companies that deliver what they promise. Not everyone is Sig
>>65199554>The P4X is thinner overallIt's still a fat little chode of a gun, keep that in mind.>>65200104>buys Italian pistol>hates Italian stylingAnon, you didn't tell us you were a gay nigga.
>>65200583Not him but I'm a PX4 Compact glazer and I think the gun is ugly as fuck. The Benelli B76 and Beretta 92S are two of the most beautiful handguns ever made so I don't know WHAT the fuck they were smoking
>>65200592>I don't know WHAT the fuck they were smokingIt was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro's design house, known for automotive designs. So basically, they were smoking Italian.
>>65200606Source?
>>65200663The internet, I don't know go look it up.
>>65200185Sounds like cope for choosing the wrong gun. You can just buy a PX4 you know, you don't have to do mental gymnastics.>>65200193I'm the one who said the PX4 recoils less moron, why would I say lift more? Neither gun has a limp wrist issue. Almost no gun has. You can fix the grip with a literal sticker. Or a $3 roll of hockey tape.inb4 whatabout fallacy regarding modification>>65200356A carry gun? Why would you ever?
Who wants a PX4 compact for $300? I was gonna buy but can't stretch it for a few months. It looks like shit, but the price is right.https://madisonguns.com/used-beretta-px4-storm-9mm-compact-pistol/
>>65200356Post your carry gun setup. inb4 you post no gun at all.
>>65200583I bought it because of my mechanical autism. Anything that is different from a polymer striker fired pistol browning action, speaks to me.
>>65200583The PX4 is the ugliest pistol ever made. There are no pistols that look uglier than it in my mind. It's like they let an Austrian design it.
>>65200796>buy a PX4Had one since like 2012, they were durt cheap because no one wanted them and actually kind of hard to find without ordering one off the internet, because nobody one wanted them. All the px4 secondaries are insufferable maggots about them now that a custom shop made them youtube famous.
>>65200893So your answer to tolerating more recoil, a much larger footprint, and a little more weight is... what? Also nice picture of your guns.
>>65200875>ugliest pistol ever madeWrong.
>>65199554I carried a LTT 92 Elite Compact for a year and half, went to a PX4 Compact (LTT'd) and never went back. Actually carrying a PX4 vs a 92 compact is a fucking dream. It's thinner, shorter, and to me has a little better ergos other than the lack of texture (I don't see it as a problem, get grip tape or get good). There's more room for the off hand grip on the PX4 compact. At first I thought they shot just about the same, except the PX4 compact was smaller, but over time I've come to the realization the PX4 compact shoot way better than the 92 compact despite being a smaller gun.
>>65200893so you're going to be a dick about somebody making a trigger bar for the PX4 to give it one of the shortest resets of any DA/SA with a FPB.
.40 S&W Px4 is best Px4
