And it's very friendly to getting out and just shooting with all the public land. However, like many western states (TX, UT, NV, ID), its explosive population growth happened much later than the rest of the country, resulting in some of the worst urban sprawl you can imagine. Phoenix is genuinely just a massive sprawling suburb that is slowly cooking itself to death from all the asphalt. Not to mention that the waves of immigration from other states destroyed all cultural identity, it's full of boomers, and mismanagement of the regional water supply will cause constant headaches in the foreseeable future. From a prepper standpoint, living in a highly populated desert is probably one of the worst things you can do. And for gun owners, the state trending from red to purple is not the best sign.Now I can say all that, but when I'm getting fucked in the ass by the upper midwest winter come January, the southwest seems pretty nice.
