They tried to integrate the foregrip into the rifle itself instead of realizing that this was dumb.

It still amazes me that this thing is the same weight as an m4a1

Because all the bulk is plastic
>>
>>65201262
Did they just stop bringing this thing to the US at some point? Beretta doesn't even list the 22lr version on their site anymore.

Beretta dumped it because it sold poorly. Their daring new replacement is an AR15/18 mutt.

That’s because the M4A1 is the pinnacle of perfection.

Unfortunately the ARX was literally designed by a Kraut. That's probably why it looks so bad...

>Beretta dumped it because it sold poorly
No, it lasted the same amount as their previous service rifles, around 20 years. Beretta doesn't care about civilian sales for their service rifles.

It's the other way around: both rifles were dumped relatively early because sales weren't as good as expected. Yes, they did manage to get a few contracts here and there, mostly in third world countries, but anytime it competed against something like an hk416 or even an m4 it inevitably lost.

I've heard from reliable sources that even the Italian Army adopted it more because of political pressure than because they actually liked the gun. Earlier versions were full of problems that have only been partially resolved, and any unit that was given the chance to adopt the m4 or hk416 gladly used that instead.

I think it's pretty telling that despite being adopted about 18 years ago there are still units equipped with the AR 70/90, some even carried it on parade today for the Republic day celebration

In that sense the NARP feels like Beretta realizing that they kinda fucked up and making something far less innovative but with higher chance of market penetration. Supposedly the Army was a lot more involved in its design too, while the ARX felt more like a purely private/commercial project.

that's fuddlore. I've shot extensevly ARXs that were in the low hundred sn wise and they always performed like tanks.

When did you do that? Are you referring to the military version or the civilian semiauto? Cause the first rifles that were issued did indeed have problems with overheating and fragility of some components, like the bolts and the barrel mount.

Beretta did fix those issues early on, by changing the material and design of some components, and those modifications were for the most part retrofitted to early rifles too, including the ones you might have fired.

What they did not fix is the ergonomy, which is still questionable, plus dumb design choices like not having a full-lenght underbarrel rail, not having a replaceable pistol grip, and other stuff like that
