FN ARKA, SiG Spear LT, or Beretta NARP?
>>

what does this do better then the SCAR gen II that they just announced?

you ever held a black gun in the blazing sun? it also blends in better.

>what does this do better then the SCAR gen II that they just announced?
Muh AR ergos, muh AR accessories

I can't decide if this thing is meant to be a "budget" SCAR meant for people who want a piston gun while still using all the AR parts they already own but wouldn't just buy a JAKL, or trying to butt in on the whale market that enables the HK416. Its probably better than the 416 at least since the piston isn't gonna self destruct the upper overtime.

>>65202284
To be fair, FN was making poop brown guns before it was cool. After the SCAR it sorta became their aesthetic.

>remake the SCAR with all the worst parts of the AR
I'm convinced ARfags have some kind of battered wife/ Stockholm syndrome where they can't accept a better charging handle or stock. Otherwise I'm just befuddled as to why anyone would willingly pick a T charger
>>
>>65202581
because it's not as bad as you make it out to be and if it's ambidextrous you can charge the gun from other side without swapping anything.
the gun is also better sealed
>>
>>65202581
They literally just want to be cheap faggots and rely on off the shelf components. FN made M4s for the army for over 20 years. Everyone makes some kind of AR or AR part, this is no different from them opting for AR grips.

>>65202613
Its not bad if you're using an actual AR. But to make space for it on a different rifle you're making the gun taller than it needs to, you're forcing it to have a step between the stock and receiver, and you're making it so you have nothing to function as a dust cover.
>>
>>65202581
>stock
Buffer tube stocks absorb recoil better than non-buffer tube stocks. Folding stocks are overrated; sure, it's great when storing the rifle, but you'll never have the stock folded when you want to use the rifle.
>charging handle
It has been proven to let less dust and debris into the system when charging the gun, has less chance of snagging on something, and is smaller than side-charging handles, so it allows the receiver to be tougher, assuming they both have the same outer dimensions.
>>
>>65202251
Except it's not compatible with AR lowers and AR lower parts at all, so like..wtf
>>
>>65202224
Given that the development of this thing is supposedly intertwined with the British rifle replacement, I have to assume that some bong associated with the project was completely fixated on Geiselle handguards, and would insist they add one at every opportunity, so FN made the new receivers look like one just to shut him up; knowing that his autistic fixation could make or break their rifle getting selected.

I have one with an exposed gas adjuster, longer barrel and it's hands-down the best rifle I own. The internals would serve as an infinitely better platform to build upon compared to whatever sigger shit they're still pretending to adopt. Maybe an AR-style charging handle just because that's what the market demands, but not much else would have to be done to it. It already has AR ergos.

>>
>>65203465
Check the Sako AR15. Neato design but for whatever reason they added an hbar barely to it. Yuros legit don't know what the fuck they are doing and once they had their hands on a normal AR15 they thought "man this is great, it's so light, let's make up the weight by making the barrel as heavy as possible!" I know there are benefits to a heavy profile barrel, but you could accomplish the same thing with a modern taper profile barrel. Yuros legit are just retarded and barely know what they are doing
>>
>>65202224
Is funny FN looked at the overweight shitty GROT A2 a said how can we copy that with a AR charging handle. Why are companies still using screws for mounting the trunnion for the barrel extension for the barrel to mate with a aluminum receiver its retarded. Unironically PSA JAKL tier dogshit
>>
>>65203552
how should they mount it then. Rivets? ACME threads? Drift pin? Bayonet socket? what do you think is ideal
>>
pretty gay tbqh
>>
>>65203561
have the aluminum receiver clamp the actual barrel extension... like LMT, barret or desertech. Every low lost light weight AR handguard is a clamp on barrel nut design
>>
>>65203561
they should machine the barrel, receiver, and forend out of a solid block of steel. truly monolithic. what are you, poor?
>>
>>65203561
cut a small slit in the upper below the barrel and use 1 or 2 steel threaded bolts to clamp the aluminum to the barrel extension and stop forward movement.

Ghastly full length aluminum top rail rise - I guess someone didn't want to swap from their old mount offsets. Pic related how things should be done, which is to say absolutely minimized. There is no recoil spring in there on OP's its in the stock FYI.

The Narp is fine and that's yuro, same with the ARX160 despite its ungainly appearance. The CZ Brens aren't the lightest rifles around but they still come in under 8 lbs and they're pretty robust rifles. If bullpups can be included the VHS is under 8 lbs and so is the AUG (though the latter only barely so in the base config).

No bias here but OD green is the way to go. Wicked fun little rifle, ergos are very comfortable and feels great to shoot suppressed. I doubt I'll ever use the caliber conversion features but hey it does make changing the barrel a breeze.
I'm going to get a chunkier stock at some point though.

I swear to fucking God.
First AR I bought was an Oberland Arms A4gery and the barrel must have accounted for half the gun's weight.
Bought the HK243 later and I shit you not they put a bull barrel on it for some unfathomable reason.
Every Euro AR built deliberately boasts shit like "Lothar Walther stainless match heavy barrel" like come ON nigger I just want a standard chrome lined barrel or at worst something like a S2W, I'm not shooting benchrest with a 11" carbine for fuck's sake.
