Once we get a DNI that can beam information directly to your brain and translate your commands very fast.will there still be a need for digital controls, expensive sensor fusion helmets, analog controls and other.will the DNI be of use at all in war, will we get one person able to control hundreeds of drones in a swarm, will it provide decisive advantages like sensor fusion does or just be a gimmick.will it be integrated with expensive controls, suplant them?is it gonna hijack your spine too for faster and more intuitive reaction to locomotion?
Fusion is the operative word here because like nuclear fusion this technology overpromises and under delivers. Autonomy is the name of the future warfare game. No significant advantage is gained from communicating with a plug in your skull over your fingertips.

>>65202259If mind control ever becomes a reality I wonder if intrusive thoughts will be a problem, I think about killing my boss enough that controlling a drone with my mind might pose a greater danger to him than the enemy.

>>65202617I mean it would be a good way to find employment for the paralyzed at least.
>>65204825I general, DNI solves connecting a disconnected brain to your own limbs to control them (ie solves paralysis) well before it solves connecting your brain to random machines to control them.>>65202617>Fusion is the operative word here because like nuclear fusion this technology overpromises and under delivers.Agree.>Autonomy is the name of the future warfare game.Agree but this misses that a human brain requires a tiny fraction of the energy input (and thus also cooling etc) as contemporary and any near future manufactured compute solutions that offer even a tiny fraction of the processing power.>No significant advantage is gained from communicating with a plug in your skull over your fingertips. It's at least 100ms difference, absolute worst case, and almost certainly more precise. Nerve conduction of signals is very slow compared to manufactured circuits, and translating from sensory input to sensory experience, then the decision into a series of muscle movements in fingertips then from those muscle movements to state changes in the controlled machine is lossy and slow at every step.
