>say a few carefully selected, nondescript words with an obvious implication over the phone
>2 hours later the first youtube app ad I see is this
Meme, just consumer interest, or do *they* do it on purpose? We all know why I got this ad.
>>
Your phone and everything is spying on you
>>
>>65209550
Yeah no shit but the fuel filter meme from 15 years ago after I made nondescript but siggestive words?
Come on man 2+2 = 4
>>
Man I just don't understand normalcattle
Who the fuck sees ads?

You dont need to call someone to get wiretapped by google, all your internet enabled devices are recording the sounds they pick up and send them for analysis at a data center.

Just start to talk about dog food and how you need to buy food for your dog. I assume here that you do not have a dog. If you have, try some other animal like a parakeet. Do it without calling anyone. Then watch youtube or just use the internet without an ad blocker and watch all the dog food and pet store ads.

Your noise signature is also used to classify you as a single person household, a couple household, a household with children or pets etc. The AI can hear if you have sex, if it is with a man or a woman, when you go up in the morning, when you come home, if you are home etc etc. Its perfectly legal since it is not done by the government. But there is nothing to prevent the government from accessing that data.

When I deleted (well you really cant delete it, you just freeze it) my facebook account like 10 years ago, I downloaded my profile, and in there there was this classification of what the facebook advertising system had classified me as judging by my friend list and activities. It was fairly accurate. Today that auto classification tech is way way more advanced. I mean, why do you think all the big tech firms are building data centers all across the world? For AI bots? No. For AI? Yes. What kind of AI? Auto survelliance AI that auto tracks you trough your smart appliances and not just you but your friends as well. Its "for advertising" but it is really a private cyber-DDR automatic stasi.

Ah about that, this is just sound. Automatic picture recognition AI can pick you up from pictures of public gatherings. A rote armee faction terrorist from the 1980s was recently arrested in Berlin after a britbong had got hold of some old photos of her, scanned them, aged them with a faceapp and then used pimeyes to search for people that looked like her.

Is anyone here going to connect the in between the lines as to why I got suggested a well known avenue for an illicit silencer.

WTF do you want from your dumb thread?

Your moms worn out puss puss.
Or people being kept aware of the systems.
Who knows.
Certainly I don't want any useful thought. Not at all. Just some fag confusing himself.

Does it take you a lot of effort to talk like such a faggot?

It's 14 years since the Snowden leaks and you still don't get it?
>>

to really properly carry out this test, you need to factory reset your phone, create a brand-new email account using that phone, do NOT designate any recovery email, link NOTHING to NOTHING, type NOTHING with your keyboard, and say those few words. then just refresh your Youtube over and over again, and log the ads you see

your email addresses are all interlinked and analysed
your browsing history also
the apps you download
the phone camera and keyboard
even your IP geolocation
and it's all under "fair use" in your user agreements

so unless you have actually sanitised your experiment to this degree, you can't say for certain that these other sources are not the real source of metadata, instead of your mic

>>65209616
>hurr durr Snowden
it's all in your user permissions and T&Cs, fuckwit
>>
>>65209577
Lmao my nigger you think you have to say these things out loud to get advertised to? Try thinking about stainless steel countertops (replace with different random product of course) for the next 2 min. Say the words in your head. You will see
>>
>>65209545
It's so much worse than that, anon
They primed you to think about oil filters in the first place
>>
>>65209545
If you're doing illegal shit don't have anything digital
You're big dumb
>>
>nigga can't weld
Lol
>>
>>65209545
it's possible.
there's also strong bias in people towards picking up things that are meaningful to them and ignoring those that aren't. it has happened to me repeatedly that i'd discover a new topic, item, book author or whatever, do some research into it and soon enough i'd hear the thing mentioned on the radio or by random people on public transport without ever hearing about it before. it feels eerie, but the explanation is that i come across loads of shit that i usually filter out and immediately forget but i recognize and notice what is familiar.
i don't know what's the effect called.
>>
>>65209551
What part of your phone is always listening don't you understand? I've had it happen to me where I'm talking about something specific with someone for a bit and then I'm getting articles recommended to me about the topic.
>>
>>65209545
You can just form 1 these for free now. Just tell the ATF you're buying a "solvent trap" with the relevant specs (caliber length etc) and "replacing the end cap" with a different cap sold by the same site. No tools, they consider this "manufacturing" enough.
>source: did exactly this a few months ago, got approved no issue

>>65209545
Resist, you are a free man!
>>
>>65210077
How is it compared to an actual can?
>>
>>65210090
I actually haven't "made" the damn thing yet because the company I wanted to order shit from went tits-up and I haven't found a suitable replacement (stainless steel monocore of a particular length) that isn't so expensive that I might as well just get a normal suppressor. That said, most of these not-suppressors on the gray market are 1:1 copies of internal configurations of popular and well-regarded cans, so it'll probably be decent at least.
>>
With 0 dollar tax stamps I could see these also being more popular than ever, they aren't illegal if you file your paperwork first.
>>
>>65210090
Like the other anon said they will work but how long they hold up is a wild card. I'd try to get a stainless steel one if possible for the best lifespan as the aluminum ones are likely not that great for shooting more than a mag or so.
>>
>>65209949
It’s that, plus a highly advanced algorithm that cross references your browsing, purchase, and location history with those of your loved ones/friends/Roman’s/countrymen to build an incredibly accurate ad profile.

In short, your phone isn’t listening to you because they don’t NEED to listen to you.
>>
>>65210103
It should last more than a mag, but they're completely unsuitable for more than a few rounds at a time before cooling off, from what I've seen
>>
>>65209593
>Is anyone here going to connect the in between the lines as to why I got suggested a well known avenue for an illicit silencer.

Yes it is very very likely that the AI that analyzed your speech used the profile it has on you to deduce that you wanted to buy a silencer for a gun. LLMs are context sensitive, you need to do better to confuse it.
>>
>>65209662
Meds, soon!
>>
>>65210103
>>65210111
I'm mostly interested in something for my rimfires, and yes I'm aware there are aluminum cans on the market but even $200 for something I'm going to be putting sub .22s through seems a bit steep. Thanks for the info.

This post is ragebait but yes, adblock techniques don't work like they did 10 years ago, Piholes barely do anything anymore, most websites are straight up broken because it's all served through the same servers that serve the "content" now

So sure if you only go to the most basic bitch AOL home page then you won't notice but if you go anywhere else you'll notice, the old methods are defeated
>>
>>65210396
Just use a proper ad blocking extension for your browser that does content filtering and stop using ad infested "apps."
>>
>>65210420
Yes I get it, you just found out what a browser extension is, that's nice. Try actually using this shit for a while and then you will see there is a constant tension between "proper" blocking and breaking websites. I mean actual modern websites not your AOL homepage that hasn't been updated since 1997

>apps
A browser is not an app, go ask your grandkids to explain
>>
>>65209545
Baader-Meinhof.

>>65210396
>adblock techniques don't work like they did 10 years ago
Works on my machine.
I only see ads when I watch shit embedded through a different site.
>>
>>65210475
>adblock works for me except when it doesn't work because I'm cherry picking the definition of "works"
Let me guess you're one of those open sores people who rationalizes having a broken computer because "why would you want to do that anyway"
>>
>>65210480
How do you expect adblock to work in a case where a third party is handling the playback? Are you mentally deficient?
>>
>>65210396
>adblock techniques don't work like they did
iunno mate, I've been Youtubing all the day long with zero ads thanks to Brave
what degree of adblock do you want? where literally every sidebar ad is blanked out?
>>
>>65210396
NTA but ublock origin seems to work fine on my machine
>>
>>65210483
You're the one arguing with me, you tell me? All I said was it wasn't 100% and now you're mad that I'm right.

>>65210523
I don't want to see ads, ever. Ever.

>>65210523
Lol, let me guess I should use Honey too?

OP said

>youtube app ad
so you're still a nigger
>>
>>65210396
Firefox + ublock origin = no ads. Never use the youtube app.
>>
>>65210396
>adblock techniques don't work like they did 10 years ago
Bull fucking shit, I haven't seen a single ad on my desktops or phones in almost 20 years
>>
>>65210214
The cheaper aluminum ones should be fine for rimfire so long as you aren't magdumping
>>
>>65209545
i think my neighbor has dick problems becuase i've been getting NOTHING but fucking BLUE CHEW ads on fucking everything for the last few months.
or turning 40 just switches that shit on.
>>
>>65209545
I was talking to my brother about the original Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and that same evening I got Ukrainian mail order bride ads.
That same year I was talking about possibly joining a Muay Thai class and got travel agency ads for Thailand.
The Ukraine thing I had watched on TV and the Muay Thai gym ad was on a flyer I got at college so those weren't from my search history.
>>65209949
>>65210475
Baader-Meinhof explains some but not all. You can think about something but not say it out loud.
The Baader-Meinhof effect would kick in by making you notice the "thing" after you started thinking about it, but this ad phenomenon specifically only happens after you bring it up in conversation with someone.
With all the privacy issues we have nowadays I don't quite get why people like to say that it's just a psychological illusion and *this time* tech companies aren't lying.
>>65209577
>why do you think all the big tech firms are building data centers all across the world?
Because they'll only profit if your employer forces you to use AI for every task, and then go home and spend your free time producing more AI slop like raunchy covers of famous songs and superimposing your face on a James Bond movie. So they're building datacenters like if there's 1-2 billion daily users just producing a non-stop torrent of slop.
Advertising algorithms worked just fine a decade and a half ago without any LLM bullshit, and even if they switch to AI-driven advertising fully it wouldn't require even a tenth of the existing and operational datacenter capacity.
