Okay, but seriously HOW do you 'actually' protect a $100M-$300M corvette against $500-$2500 flying or surface craft drones? CWIS? ECCM?Audio version, if anyone cares.https://litter.catbox.moe/anuxcw.mp4
Well, you clearly need to have all the cards
>>65210533Best defense would be a good offense. After four year Ukraine retains the state cpacity to launch these types of strikes, and Russia can't do anything about it since it can't patrol Ukraine's interior. It's not a perfect solution, even with air superiority over Iran, the U.S. cannot suppress every strike, but it can reduce their size and tempo making defense easier. Meanwhile Russia is getting blasted daily by a country a third the size of Iran.
>>65210533What rank is this Russian sailor? He's got a lot of purpose for an unemployed man.
>>65210554Mabe they could move some of the AD from the monke bunker and try shooting down the glorified cessnas.
>>65210584We're watching their AD network collapse in real time, they don't have the coverage to protect everything and are essentially powerless to curtail Ukrainian op tempo, which seems to be growing daily. What I don't understand is why the Russian air force isn't doing more to shoot down drones. It may be because they lack cheap solutions to down drones or the risk of friendly fire too high.
>>65210570Senior rearline mayo taster.
>>65210605doI even wanna ask if this is a euphemism or..?
>>65210609
>>65210595What're you gonna do, lol? Fire a missile 100x the cost at a drone? Use the autocannon? It's hopeless, even if you had free fuel to burn and a glut of pilots and parts to keep them all airworthy (they dont).
>>65210595Don't forget the RUAF is already working itself to the bone fighting as it is.
>>65210533Not allowing drones to traverse hundreds of miles within your country before blowing up ships in the Baltics is a good first step.
>>65210536>section of super-structure totally collapsed >obvious deep interior flames, guaranteed fire and smoke damagePretty surprising damage given that was just 2 drones with ~110kg warheads.
>>65210624Did it cook off secondary explosions? That seems way too big for just a small airborne drone.
>>65210533The first step is to not be a corrupt mafia state that gets bogged down in a war against your impoverished neighbour that becomes a self-made existential crisis.
>>65210547Wouldn't it be more effective to hit ships somewhere near the water line?
>>65210624>it was ONLY a mere 450lbs of HEBruh...WTF am I reading???
>>65210612>What're you gonna do, lol? Fire a missile 100x the cost at a drone? An interceptor that costs 100x that of the drone is worth using as the cost of the drone reaching it's target will most likely be 100x the cost of the interceptor you brown retard.
>>65210667Not with a tiny UAV warhead. The bridge is your best option.
>>65210595>What I don't understand is why the Russian air force isn't doing moreBecause they're doing all they can. They still have impressive numbers on paper but readiness costs money and that's something post-soviet russia never had enough. The whole branch is well and truly a paper triger.
>>65210673Yeah that's brilliant when you need to stop one drone. Here's the secret, there's more than one.
>>65210540God damn they opened that sucker up
I assume the launchers were empty since the ship's in drydock?
>>65210605>(not assault!)
>>65210533>>65210536Copelord said the ship was lightly damaged at worst and I trust high skilled amd well experienced proffessional like him.
>>65210533Not having like 70% of all available AD units circled around Moscow and Putin's villa would certainly help.
>>65210772>>65210772No. If the munitions are secure while out at sea, why wouldn't they be secure in drydock? Offloading munitions only to re-onboard them would be a waste of effort.
>>65210829i want to fuck copelord in the ass really, really hard.no homo
>>65211161Does sound kinda gay thoWhich is OK, just...you know
>>65210595>they lack cheap solutions to down dronesYak-130 looks like perfect tool for this kind of job
>>65210829so the whole oil dock is in blaze and the ships are rubar?
>>65210667It's easy to miss the waterline by going too high or too long(hitting the water) and you'd be surprised how hard these things can be to sink, especially if carrying light cargo. Also a hull breech is a (relatively) easy fix. Meanwhile hitting the bridge is easier to hit, immediately take it out of service and requires more time to repair. It also kills crew, which is unfortunate, but might discourage other crews from making the same trip in future. Not only that, but a damaged ship takes up port space, rather than just being written off.
>>65211199>unfortunateDo you not understand what the T in TZD stands for?
>>65211202Most are non-russian civilian crews, in this case Azerbaijani. Just guys doing their job, going where they are told. I'm not saying the ships shouldn't be hit, they absolutely should, but it's always a shame when a random crew member has to pay the price for someone else's war.
>>65211161>>65211165According to russian "logic" on the topic, ass-raping another man is perfectly straight and by no means homo. But if Anon really ass-raped Copelord, that would make Copelord an irredeemable homofag and ritually unclean according to their way of seeing things.
>>65210829at the rate things are goingI will one day wake up to a tweet of copelord saying>putin has consolidated power and has given the order for full mobilisation under martial lawwhile putin is on a one way express flight to the hague and the uaf is at the gates of the kremlin
>>65211248>puccna faces catastrophic collapse>Putain gets the Beria treatment by his underlings who proceed to immediately sue for peace with hoholistan and the HATO just to avoid famine and cannibalism levels of complete collapseCopelord: Russia didn't need Putin anyway, this is actually a victory for mighty russia! It was obviously part of the plan all along! Something, something, 5D hyperdimensional political and strategic super-chess by russia.
>>65210829
>>65211165>Which is OKits worse than necrophilia
>>65210624>>65210638>>65210672Yeah 450 lbs of HE is a fucking lot, thats a LARGE payload for a drone attack. Even low quality HE 200lbs will fuck something like a thin skinned warship up badly and the stuff they send to attack a naval base is probably high quality/best they have available. Modern warships are not at all durable, regardless of navy or nation they have no meaningful armor and are built almost entirely out of 2CM structural plating on more robust load bearing frames. Unironically a modern tanker has better protection against explosive attacks, since they virtually all have double hulls, effectively giving them lighweight spaced armor. That corvette theres probably, but only probably, some kevlar padding around the CIC so the ship does get mission killed by splinters from a near miss, but aside that they have no armor.A modern naval ship, American, Chinese, British, Russian, French Whoever, can be killed by a .50 cal machine gun if you know where to shoot, since no armor is enough to protect from the shaped charge on a sea skimming cruise missile they simply do not bother putting armor on them at all. They survive with active defenses like RAM and CIWS, chaff clouds, jamming and see first/shoot first.
>>65210829Huge black cloud over pidorsburg as monke was doing his big international dog and pony show, impotence indeed, obviously a subject he's an expert in
>>65210533So when the side is split open like that, does that just mean that thr ship is fucked and unrecoverable in any sense of the word?
>>65210673The problem is that if they have 100+ drones to allocate for such a target and your math works it end up costing you the value of the vessel in interceptors and than it still gets sunk the moment you run out. So thst way you lose 2x the value compared to just doing nothing. While the opponent loses 101times 2 grand. Not even the price of one interceptor. Terrible trade ratio. At this point it would be better to dry dock those vessels near Japan and take the anti air systems for frontline use and the less skilled sailors for cannon fodder at the front. It is a mathematically better use of resources.
>>65210533There is NOTHING we can do. If you cannot outrun the drone, attempt to throw the AK-47 at it
>>65211361You REALLY need to trim the sides thinner if you're gonna rock a bald crown like that, it has to roll with the profile of your skull to a good degree. You can go bald with dignity, but he's not.
>>65211442>put AD near front line so it can face more drones>send entire navy to the Pacific so it can't do AA or launch missiles>send sailors to die pointlessly on the frontThis man is a fucking genius, someone tell the tsar.
>>65211361Computer, activate Emergency Cope Lord>Please state the nature of your military embarrassment..
>>65210673This retarded math equation is the same reason why the brown retarded mutts and musloids had no issues firing 8 patriots at one drone without taking the 10 other drones in the raping queue into account. The math checks out if you omit the math.
>>65212101If only there was a way to build interceptor drones to stop the flying lawnmowers.
>>65210533You can't. Pierre Sprey was right. Just spam your own interceptor drones.
>>65210595>>65210612>>65210613What is going on Air Force wise in this war? I've mostly seen drone footage and drone strikes reported on.
>>65211418Yes. It was in drydock, for all that's worth. But yes.
>>65211387Thank you for the intelligent reply anon. Interesting insight on this! I'm curious what this will mean for future warship development, since I'd guess every (relevant) military in the world will now be trying to spam cheap drones for future conflicts.
>>65212326There was limited dogfighting early on in the war (literally first week, basically nothing after that). Russia has largely relegated their aircraft to indirect bombardment roles (lol), no joke: they're using helicopter gunships and fighter-bombers for indirect bombing runs, tilting the pitch of helis so their rocket pods follow a diffuse ballistic trajectory. Or with fighter-bombers they drop retrofit glide bombs from dozens of km away, and hit the 'vague area' of a target.Problem is both sides are bristling with AA systems, so actual bombing runs, infantry drops, or dogfights are suicide (like what we saw happen to Russia in the first week). Drones are obviously too small for meaningful deterrence, so they're running amok.
>>65210791What do you honestly think his Russian officers would lie to a young hansom man like that just so they can gang rape him in the bunk rooms them send him to his death charging the trenches of the enemy with nothing but a rusted solid gun with no ammo that is older than his own father?Do you truly think the Russians could be so cruel and evil to one of there own people Anon? For shame Anon for shame that you could think such a horrible thing about the Russian army.
>>65212360I wonder how much more Russian AA needs to be destroyed or dragged back to Moscow before we get aerial combat.
