I don't put optics on pistols because they're too small, too far away, the reticle is washed out too easily, the reticle moves too much on autoloaders, I don't like the tinted view, and I don't like magnified view (although minimal it's still very noticeable). I also don't like the occlusion from the glass and battery housing. I don't like the slightly reduced slide speed either. I wear glasses so I don't really have a problem seeing irons as I age. I also use irons that I pick up really well. If works better for you, go for it. I'll try the FN Pureview when I can get ahold of one. I really don't mind the reduced battery life. I despise reflector sights just in general. I much prefer holographic sights; specifically the huey.

As far as I'm concerned if you're trained on dots and can afford dots and your gun can take a dot you should put a dot on it, you'll only be more accurate as a result.
