How much does it cost to get into reloading? I mean if you want to make cartridges as good or better than factory loads, not the absolute cheapest/lowest acceptable quality. How many cartridges, either generally or specifically speaking based on your experience, until breakeven (especially looking at the larger hunting/ELR calibers)?

350
reloading isn't worth it unless you shoot a ton, want maximum precision, or have difficulty buying ammo for some reason
it's only interesting if you are into obscure and no longer produced calibers
>>65213595This seems low. And often I notice when guys quote you on this kind of thing they assume you already have all the essential tools and aren't some kind of fatherless citycel trying to get into being a man from scratch.>>65213664>>65213697Big if true. It sure is easy to buy boxes of ammo. Would be nice if I could find a way to shoot more of it though.
A Lee Loader will pay for itself after ~200 rounds of rifle ammo. Close to 500 rounds to break even on handgun rounds. And it fits in your pocket.u/k/raine hates it though, which is a sure sign you should buy one.
>>65213566>How many cartridges, either generally or specifically speaking based on your experience, until breakevenSeveral hundred, if not thousands.Your best hope is finding a progressive set from a boomer who died whose family has no use for it or idea of its worth. Good luck with that in the age of smarthphones and A.I.Even then; You have to calculate your time. I consider my free time worth at least $50/hr.
>>65214185You aren't getting ELR precision cartridges from a Lee Loader.
>>65213802>This seems low.its not, 2000 will get you were you need to goyou can get babies first reloading kit for $200, $2000 lets you pick up a quality press for around $500 plus all the case prep/priming/powder measures/cartridge dies you need and still have money left over for some powder bullets and cases
>>65214207use good bullets and be anal about powder weight and it will
>>65214205>I consider my free time worth at least $50/hr.this is a big considerationyou have to enjoy reloading to the point that its a hobby and not a chore for reloading to make any sense fiscally
>>65214446I replaced masturbation and looking at porn with reloading. No more pov goth fucking and try on hauls for me, just more .223!
>>65214207The Guiness world record in smallest group was from a Lee Loader, the record stuck for over 7 years. Cope.
>>65213566Honestly? I did mine for around 350$ (poor fag lulz) and do 9mm and will do 10mm soon since I finally got a 10mm for cheap (500 for a RIA HC 10mm , sad story). After the 350 I spent another 250$ for around 1k of HP 9mm loaded around 1250Fps. Honestly start at a single press before you upgrade to learn the basics.
>>65217298>Guiness world record in smallest groupNo such thing.
