I saw that russian single shot anti drone shotgun and it got me thinking, do these meme net rounds have any value against [current conflict] style fpv drone strikes? Either suicide drones or bombers

At least, would they work better than buckshot when taking down an fpv drone that's already speeding towards your ass?

I don't know shit about drones. But there is no shotgun general, so here we are.

but if you have no shotgun you gotta improvise

I see people saying that duplex/ratshot/ball bearing rounds are useless but both sides of the war keep making them so I imagine they have to have some kind of practical use case, although needing to change mags if a drone is on your ass would probably suck

Tank crews in WW2 would strap all sorts of shit to their armour, despite testing repeatedly showing that most of it actively made the crews less safe in addition to putting additional strain on their vehicles. This exact same thing happened during the GWoT, with Stryker crews shoving random shit behind the slat armour of their vehicles in an attempt to improve their protection, completely defeating the entire point of slat armour.

I bring up the above because soldiers doing improvised shit is only an indicator that soldiers feel like they need whatever capabilities they are trying to achieve with that improvised shit. There is absolutely zero guarantee that the end result of that improvisation is not actively harmful let alone useful.

>have no shotgun
There’s a simple solution to that, and it’s called having a fucking shotgun. Seriously, they’re the most popular civilian weapons in the world. I don’t understand why these militaries have such difficulty sourcing and distributing them on a squad-level.

Shotguns are shit. They have shit velocity, shit magazine depth, shit size, and they're one more piece of shit you have to carry around.
Shooting lead BB's out of your AK means that you get rifle velocity, full auto, 30rnd magazine in the rifle you already carry.

You shouldn't give your opinion when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Multiple direct interviews with actual veterans state that shotguns are the most effective commonplace weapons against drones, other than jamming. With a good sight a rifle is useful but only in very skilled hands, and rifles with iron sights are completely useless. Not only has this been proven extensively in testing by all major militaries at this point (including by the US military) it's also true on the battlefield where having at least a few shotguns lying around is considered a necessity.

There's overwhelming evidence to suggest that it's the norm for experienced veterans on both sides of the war to choose to take shotguns with them in combat zones in addition to their primary weapons despite the extra weight, and consider them to be a necessity. You'd have to be some kind of retard to think that's just for memes or something.

Literally have no idea why that makes rifle fags seethe so hard, I think it's because they subconsciously need to deny that they're shitty marksmen and they could actually never hit a drone without the use of a scattergun.

Drones were firing nets at other drones for a little while there, I don't know if that still goes on.

It seemed a bit silly.

Why is the Russian word for tandem tandem?
>>
>>65222717
>You see Ivan, drones have one mortal enemy. Trees. We have millions of trees in Siberia. If you strap trees to your tank, your enemies won't even know where to send the drones.
>>
>>65224758
Loan-words. Russia probably didn't have a good equivalent to Tandem so they stole the English word.
>>

Probably more of a logistics issue. Shotguns are pretty light but it's still another weapon to carry. Add in the logistics of supplying infantry with ANOTHER weapon that needs ammo and parts and whatnot and it's probably a massive hastle. And then, Horror of Horrors, there's the PROCUREMENT BOARDS!

We'll probably see individual purchases, tho. The private market is huge so all Command has to do is say they're fine with soldiers buying their own shotguns. This lets the brass put all the responsibility on the troops. "You want a shotgun? That's your business".

Not every soldier will have a scattergun, and as you say, command probably wouldn't really care if Ivan decides to procure his own shotgun (and ammunition).

I cant imagine it would be hard to throw in a few boxes of 12 gauge to keep the limited number of shotguns on the front well fed. They would practically pay for themselves (if the soldiers using them can actually hit shit anyways...)
>>
>>65226494
What, like sell shotguns and 12ga at the PX? Actually, that does sound pretty plausible.
>>
What happens when 20mm barrels are shootable but blem or shot out? Could you turn them into a shotgun barrel? Same goes for 30mm.

If my command gave me this, I'd immediately blunt force suicide with it rather than try to fight.

I feel like the military could talk to police chiefs of major cities since cops have been supplying themselves with shotguns for decades before they even got ARs.
>>
>>65222533
Wouldn't birdshot make more sense?
>>
>>65228151
Ye, but that’s a 6.5 gauge.
What about a 9-10 gauge + a 3 gauge.
>>
>>65228201
Could, yes, but that wouldn't get rid of the whole procurement process.

Just give them the Mossberg reps phone number

Does /k/ prefer pump-action or semi-auto?
>>

Despite being made from scuffed ГШ-23 barrels it's not the worst PoS that you could get in a storm-Z unit. That'd probably be a Mosin.
>>
>>65228213
So? Mossberg's bid will sit right next to Remington's and Benelli's.
>>
>>65228235
Mossberg's bid will come in under those two though.

Doesn't matter. It'll take about a year for the procurement board to decide.

Absolutely not. And birdshot is much better than buckshot.
