Time to round out my collection and pickup a gladius. This one looks pretty nice. Can't seem to find one anywhere though. Anyone have a better suggestion?
>>65225137>GladiusMore like gaydius.
>>65225137Yeah
>>65225188It Was put in a lot of men.
>>65225191I've got plenty of rifles. I think it would be fun to hang a sword over my mantle
>>65225137>gladiusget good OP
>>65225239>Mfw loving the look of side swords>But a sword would be my home defense weapon>My apartment is super cramped>Noone in range teaches side sword, sabre or anything postmedieval, it's all longsword or a bit of messerBorn to sword, forced to messer.
>>65225239>get goodThe Romans ruled the know civilized worl for 1000 years with the Gladius, it was the most peak sword ever. The civil war chonk you post wasn't even really any ood, unless you were on horse back.
>>65225925>The british empire ruled a quarter of the world with muskets, therefore they are superior to an AR15That's what you sound like. Also the 1796 was british napoleonic you dunce.
>>65225188Gladius was slang for penis so the gay is implied.
>>65225925Gladius is good for stabbing I guess, but the 1796 light cav saber was so overpowered the French complained it was inhumane. Honestly I'd rather have a cutlass which is a bit shorter because of what this anon said >>65225914
>>65225925shields and long pikes won the romans way more battles than their gladii
>>65226233>the 1796 light cav saber was so overpowered the French complained it was inhumaneDid the french ACTUALLY do that or is that just anglo propaganda that they still believe? Because frankly it sounds like it.
Lk Chen Beiyang Cavalry sabre, aka german 1889 sabre. Actually more of a backsword. Supposedly balanced close to the hilt and well wieldable on foot. If I knew sabre fencing, I might buy this one.
>>65225137You can buy one from Albion but be prepared to wait a year or more.
>>65225188Are there any combat kills with this gay shit?
>>65225925roughly 37% of roman soldiers carried one, not counting mercs. They ruled the world with order and logistics.
>>65226489uhhhhhh yeaaahhhh
>>65226393>long pikesRomans used short-ish spears no lonher than 8 feet. The Hasta from the old Camillian model topped out at 8 feet, while Lanceas in later times were much shorter, some as short as 6 feet.
>>65225195Fuck, that's hot.
>>65226673The Gladius was actually a major part of that logistics. It was small so you could sheath it on your belt and that meant you had a hand free for one of Pic Related.>>65226671Lots. Greeks noted that battles with Roman Maniples were a hell of a lot more lethal than battles against other phalanxes.
>>65225925Gladius was part of a large system. It was a handy thing that was excellent up close but a legionaire would never get that close without his Scutum.
>>65227589You're not gay if you're a top!
>>65225137For practicality: this very long knife.Otherwise a short sword from Landsknecht Emporium kind of what I have.
