Should I get one for the meme value?
why not. they usually work, they're cool, and it'll probably make you happy.
>>65229925depends on old or new
>>65229925The new models had a bad run when they first came out in 2020 but are sorted out and very nice now. Apparently the rear sights are still kinda shitty but Wilson Combat makes an upgraded set which fixes the problem. That's a great problem to have because inevitably some idiot can't hit anything with it because his sights are loose and rage sells for a bargain.
>>65230175Based reviewchad
>>65229925Looks baller and is decently smooth, but not worth it at full price. Find a second hand one and then its worth.
>>65229925>plastic sights
>>65229925Based gun for based people
>>65229925I genuinely want to get two 3" ones, then have them engraved with tiger motifs so I can put on chinos, a suit jacket, and some sunglasses and larp as an 80's Hong Kong gangster.
The only Python's worth owning are blued.
>>65232109I believe you can actually get the new ones both blued or black DLC coated, which is an interesting idea. Doesn't look the same as blued exactly, but still has that shiny blued luster and should be pretty dang durable and resistant to wear.
>>65230826>not worth it at full priceBro just described my entire gun collection.
They have a big fucking QR code stamped on the side of them now. That's worse than a hilary hole.
I was playing Metro yesterday and took some time to look at the stock revolver. During the idle animation I thought it looked really similar to my model 29, but with a Pyhon's barrel. Looking it up taught me about the Smython for the first time. Really neat stuff, kinda want one, but idk where I would find one or how expensive it would be.
The Model 29-2 in question.(Don't stare at her finish too closely. I rescued her from a gunshow and she's really self conscious about it)
>>65232100You'll need suspenders
>>65233176You say this like it's a negative thing
>>65233094>taught me about the Smython for the first time. Also heard these referred to as a "Smolt" or "Snake & Wesson".Always thought they were neat, kind of always wanted to put one together.
>>65233558Looking at it seriously, getting some Smith in 357 that I wouldn't mind basterdizing isn't too expensive. And if I'm ok with going for a 4 inch barrel instead of a 6 inch, those ones are like $100 off ebay. I'd just need to find a gunsmith that would take the job really.
>>65232591Gross no way is this true?
>>65230000quads say yes
>>65232591>>65233724It is true, unfortunately. There's a market out there for it's removal, if you have an ffl and can demonstrate your ability to polish it off the frame without destroying the appearance of the gun you could probably make an actual living out of it.No picture of said QR code but here's a picture of the fried chicken patty, guac and tomato sushi roll I made a few minutes ago instead which is probably just as good.
>>65233724>>65235228picrel there on the right at the bottom of the frame. It's an internal Colt link to the gun's file which includes date/time of production, assembler, notes, and any services they've done. Probably an advertising link externally too.For all the bitching about it on the intertubes I never notice the thing irl.
>>65235254Ok that's honestly not as bad as what I was picturing. I'll admit it. I was expecting something Ruger/Beretta tier with a novel sized matrix cutscene on the gun.
>>65229925You can make it meme-ier.
>>65229925I have one, it's superb once you replace the rear sight and get some good shoes for it. Don't get the wilson, it's not necessary, buy the harrison snake sight rear and black out the front sight with some matte hobby paint (or buy the harrison for not much money). I highly recommend hogue custom hardwood grips. They take a while to fulfill the order but it's worth it. The single action on the 2020 pythons is kinda weird, it's a little too heavy but to be fair has no creep. It just feels kinda fat and weird compared to a well sprung 80s S&W single action. Double action is very good, pretty light, definitely better than smith. You have to release the trigger all the way or you will bind the thing up. Don't ride the reset on revolvers in general. In general its a very well fit and well finished gun but the chunky top strap kinda just ruins the whole gun for me, proportionally it's strangem, the frame is just a square brick. It has none of the mystique or cool factor of the old python. It's very much retro inspired, just like how when you buy a brand new walther pp or a tisas 1911 or CZ75 you're not getting a gun with any really "feeling", they merely look like the real article. I would never sell my 2020 python but also I'm not really attached to it.
>people actually bought the new crapIf I'm going to buy an overpriced meme revolver, I'm going all the way with an original in royal blueing or nickel.
>>65235254>>65233724>>65235260The one on my rifle isn't too bad but I still wish it wasn't there. I also recently bought a 1911 that doesn't seem to have one, or they at least put it inside the gun somewhere which makes me wonder why they couldn't just hide it on the inside of my rifle or the revolvers.
I would try to find a nice older one in good condition if I really had to have one. I have had several chances in the past to pick one up but went with S&W instead. They are nice iconic wheelguns but just not worth the asking price now or even back then.
