Yesterday, during the Deniz Kurdu naval exercise, the Turkish Navy sank 3 decommissioned vessels: the training ship Sokullu Mehmet Paşa and the tugs Akbaş and Söndüren-2. The targets were engaged using the indigenous Akya heavy torpedo, Atmaca SSM, Temren ASM.
>>65231254First the Atmaca missile fired at Akbaş from TCG Burgazada corvette. Then Temren ASM firings from Seahawk helicopters and finaly Akya torpedo breaking ex Sokullu Mehmet Paşa in two.

Truly this is the century of the turkish cockroach.
another air defense missile test from this exercise. As these missiles are locally produced in Turkey in good numbers, the navy can do more live firings
ganbare, roket-san!
During exercise Deniz Kurdu 2001, a Turkish Type 209 submarine launched British made Tigerfish torpedo at a decommissioned target ship. However, the submarine lost contact with the torpedo, and the torpedo directed itself to the Turkish navy vessel TCG Kemal Reis. TCG Kemal Reis, carrying, 20 generals-admirals, 15 foreign guests, 20 journalists, and 100 military personnel, went into combat status. And it immediately moved out of range. (According to some, the torpedo had been redirected toward the ship due to external input) I believe it's really important for a country to have full control of its naval ordnance.
