>Walmart air rifle with $200 scope and Walmart ammo ($10/500)>High end rimfire with high end scope and ammo ($30/50)>same accuracyWhy is that exactly? I've read about the uneven burn of powder, the uneven loading, priming, etc.
>>65233830Its a pellet gun at its max effective range. You move the target to 75 and that shit will open up. I dont mean oh its poi shift cause bullet drop. Its groupsize will drastically expand.
Exterior ballistics are more important than interior ballistics and the shooter is holding the rifle rather than using a shooting rest where the rifle is clamped into a fixed frame. Both rifles are spot on accurate considering all the other factors.
>>65233830>rimfirethat's why. rimfire is shit because it is usually a heeled bullet and fucks it's own ass on the way out. that's why the winchester 21 sharp is interesting because it actually has a modern bullet.
>>65233885Yes, and the exterior ballistics of an airgun pellet are dogshit. Pellets are drag stabilized so they can be fired somewhat accurately from a smooth bore. Airguns that are rifled have like a 1:24 or slower twist rate. Pellets have shit b.c. (that's considered a feature) and they get blown around like crazy in the slightest crosswind.t. $1000+ FX Cyclone owner who switched to a shitty $100 Marlin .22 for small game hunting
>>65233830>Why is that exactly? You didn't post the videos so it's hard to make an actual criticism but just off-hand I can say that 50 yards is charitable to pellet guns, he's not shooting from a rest and I have no idea how thoroughly he has dialed in his ammo and gun combination
>>65233830Air rifles can be astonishingly consistent and accurate, has always been the case dude. Much more reliable to precisely control pressure release vs powder/primer/ignition. It's easy mode for design in a lot of ways. Dunno where you ever got the idea it was easier to have an accurate firearm.Obviously the downside is air rifles hit their ceiling much lower than a rifle, even with really fancy expensive gucci ones. We don't have the capability at all to generate the kind of pressure we get from smokeless with pressure vessels in a portable form factor. But air rifles are super fun, can be very budget friendly, can be integrally suppressed without any stamp shit since they aren't firearms, and very accurate. So if they fit one's use they're a good time.
