What is the second most important piece of equipment to a rifleman, after his rifle?
>>
>>65236248
his gun
>>
Comms. If he cant effectively coordinate with others even when separated by distance or terrain, he's not worth much.

>Boots
Swap the helmet and plate carrier depending on night/day. I’d rather go slick at night with NVGs than blind fire with the hope my plate can stop a round of 7.62.
>>
>>65236248
Either canteen or boots, assuming rifle includes ammo

You don't *need* a helmet to wear NVGs, but I get your point
>>
>>65236306
> Comms
> Helmet (the system)
How do those work? What's needed from the comms besides reliability? Runtime? Range?

>Boots
Besides being well broken in, what do you consider to be a good pair of boots?
>>
>>65236617
>How do those work
Squad leader has 2 radios, one in each ear and is constantly listening to what the platoon, company and larger are doing. The individuals on the teams are worried about team communication and coordination and the reality directly in front of them.
>>
>>65236500
Skull crushers suck. Helmet is the only realistic option.
>>
>>65236248
The M27 is so cool, I wish I could have one
>>
>>65236617
>what do you consider to be a good pair of boots?

Whatever fits and provides the best balance of mobility, durability, and protection while requiring no special rituals like moleskin or regular applications of foot powder to be worn comfortably for long durations. Anything else is entirely up to you and what you want.
>>
>>65236248
The most important piece of equipment to a rifleman is his boots, not his rifle. An otherwise naked rifleman with boots can still march to your house and throw rocks at you. A kitted out rifleman with no boots is as useless as a casualty
>>
>>65236662
These little caps (picrel) are decent, but I'd take one night with uncomfortable NODs over one night without NODs any day. Helmets are always better of course

This.

Right above helmet and plate carrier.

Batteries. He can trade for everything else.

May as well have rip-its, carton of smokes, and logs of dip. He is the kingpin of the battlefield.

Comms are pretty simple. It’s a fucking radio. Obviously the longer the battery life and the better the range the better but usually it’s teaching retards how to operate them that’s the hurdle.
>Boots
My personal preference was always the lighter the better. I was allowed to wear nonstandard boots and rocked some Salomon’s. I remember liking my Rocky’s when I was in garrison.

HIs helmet, watch Starship Troopers

His boots quickly followed by his radio. If he has a radio. Shoot, move, communicate.
>>
>>65236915
I can confirm this after having been forced to walk a mile with boots whose soles had blown out; the men in Valley Forge who marched in those conditions must had been something else.
>>
>>65236248
Boots are more important than the rifle.
>>
>>65236248
Rifle
>magazines for rifle
>means to carry magazines
>mission essential gear
>water
>water
>water
>some food
>>
>>65236248
His rifle is at best the second most important thing he carries, and frankly probably isn't even too three. As the other anon with a DD214 said, boots. I'd proffer that next is comms, third is either rifle or snivel gear depending on weather.

Waking around in thin or no shoes eventually just results in stronger feet. I trail run in deliberately shitty shoes to keep conditioned for doing shit in turn shoes (which are soft leather with no soles)

If it's not sharp or going to impale me I can march or run over whatever and not notice.

Sugar free and nicotie salt pouches.
If I somehow get separated and some goat fucker lets me somehow plug in USB-C and serves me tea; I am giving that poor fuck all I can spare and bribing Chair Force fags after to covert dump humanitarian rations on his poz.
And by bribe I may mean force at gunpoint and take the Martial.

I'm answering on June 17, the 251st anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Water and ammo. The men in the redoubt didn't bring enough water, and the British figured out that the Americans were running low on ammo during the second assault because they were firing slower. On the third assault the Brits took Breed's Hill. More ammo might have stopped them.
>>
>>65236248
Being friends or offering his holes to logistics, so he can get whatever he needs/wants.
>>
>>65242922
No dummy. Besides the rifle.
