Getting into flame wars with people who think nukes don't exist is pretty fun.

sorry bro but i'm going with the nuke deniers on principle

There were even patents filed for the darts it fired that would cease to exist when it entered the body but yeah.

Patents doesn't mean that the idea automatically works out, faggot, there's shitloads of patents out there which you can't realistically apply, or which are shitposts.

Having a patent just mean you own exclusive rights to an idea, whether it's good or bad. Look at Rollin White's famous patent, it was an unworkable hunk of shit, but its high value laid in allowing for market exclusivity for something else that DID work.

Pretty sure the only fictional bit of this was the frozen water dart
>>
I'm assuming that this thing was one of those which the CIA really badly wanted to be real, and then funded research on, but which then hit various practical walls and didn't progress further.
Then at a later point, it gets thrown out as a convenient and alarming red herring to cover for something else.

Pretty sure this thing was just a paper tiger, that it was never even remotely functional. And that the Soviets crashed it deliberately to cover up the fact that it was just an empty shell full of old pinball machine parts.

The nuclear suitcase is complete bullshit
>>
>>65242233
It was privately developed then sold to the CIA.
Development is covered in the Gyrojet book since it was the same company.
>>
>>65244690
Man-portable nuclear weapons were created in small numbers, but not as a sleek suitcase, rather as a huge fucking backpack (almost stretching the definition of portable), and the notion was that maybe the army engineers would use them for demolition, but that was never put in practice.

>>65244696
Given MBA's track record, that makes it even more likely that it basically never worked. Anyway, it didn't pan out, therefore it was thrown out as a distraction, because that's the only reason to publicly reveal that it exists.

If that thing reliably worked like it's claimed to, they would keep TIGHT fucking opsec on it.
>>
>>65244963
>because that's the only reason to publicly reveal that it exists
Or the fact that the CIA was caught stockpiling biological poisons in contravention of new treaties.
They had to explain to congress why they had so much saxitoxin and what its use would have been.
The military had to drop their poison bullet program as well, a good part of which had been designed by MBA.

You think the CIA couldn't just lie and hide shit?

Yeah it's just not plausible or even desirable, you'd need a battery powered compressor that would flick on and off every now and again to keep the thing frozen. The assassin would periodically begin buzzing.

I am extremely curious about how it actually worked. The ammunition must be more sophisticated than a typical dart otherwise they could have used a commercial air pistol.

Supposedly you would just have a tank of liquid nitrogen slowly boiling off to keep it frozen for the duration of the mission

>the heart attack gun existed and that is, allegedly, the only example made
>it was confirmed to have been used at least once before being showcased in congress
>literally nothing known about it after that hearing, we can only assume that it its in storage or destroyed or that there might be more examples that saw use
I really wish we knew more of this fucking thing
>>
>>65245588
>>65245604
The primary targets were soviets. Everything is frozen there most of the time, no cooling needed.

Acetate/tartarate crystals can be stable at room temperature and melt at 36°C.
And completly biocompatible, not leaving suspicious markers.
>>
Does anyone else think that maybe the heart attack gun was just complete bullshit?
I mean kinda sound like that when you really think about it, right?
>But it was shown to congressmen, nobody would ever lie to congressmen
Good point, but are we totally sure about that? Maybe actually just this once some of our wise politicians were fooled. Do you think that might be possible?
>>
>>65245660
You understand that they are going to notice when people die of sudden heart attacks and are then all found with mysterious 4.5mm holes on them, right?
>>
>>65245746
Anon, no, what are you thinking? Do you really think that the CIA would lie? That congress would believe a lie? Or tell a lie of its own?

Semi-fictional, Saddam tried for nukes but he got cockblocked, and then the old evidence of that was later recycled to make it look like he was trying again.
