Hey /k/, I haven't been here in awhile. Usually I am shitposting in /v/, but I've been craving to buy an SKS. I remember the days here when anons told me that buying them is hilariously dirt cheap, but I am aware now those days are long gone. Regardless, I don't care, I want one. Do any of you know where I can get a Norinco SKS? I genuinely want one, but I don't want to be screwed. I mean, I know I'll be screwed compared to the prices back in 2007, but I don't want to be ROYALLY screwed. Any tips or ideas welcome.

Are you American or Canadian? Just check whatever gun forum/local classified has them in your area. You could probably snag one for less than 600 bucks.

they're still pretty common but if you're looking for a good deal, that's all luck. I got this for a steal of a deal, but it was still twice the price from 2007.
>>
>>65240976
American. Yeah funny you say that. I see that they are littered on Guns.com for that price. I don't know how good that site is since I've never bought from online before, but I figured I'd try since the local stores in Dallas don't really have any.

I wouldn't order from something like Guns.com. If you're in Texas just make an account on Texas Gun Trader. Or just go to a gun show you'll find one. Coincidentally I just got a Russian SKS on the cheap with this method.

Gunbroker or CenterFireSystems, CFS has Yugos

They're not hard to find, just don't expect to pay less than $500 for any flavor of SKS.
Chinese Type 56 carbines are easily found for $500-$600.
Yugo 59/66 around the same, be aware none of them had chrome lined barrels and they used corrosive ammo in their military. Not a deal breaker but worth mentioning.
Russian SKS are more expensive (always have been) but you can occasionally find them for $800-$1k. They're almost always going to be factory restored as well (you can tell by the paint they use on the receiver and dust cover).

If you really want the cheapest SKS out there then watch fuddjoker for all those bubba special Type 56s. You can find them for $250-$350, but...
>>
>>65241002
Mine looks identical to that but is the "paratrooper" model and it came with both the 'blade' and 'screw driver' bayonet

its like that exact color and finish...
ive been told its "Chinese" but i dunno its absolutely immaculate and my old man bought it in the 90's for like $75 and it came with like 2 full ammo-tins of strippers+steel amo
>>
>>65241073
In my experience the chinese ones tend to be nicer than soviet rifles. They were the only ones to produce a commercial "paratrooper" variant.
>>
>>65241012
This is perfect, thank you anon
And thank you to everyone who posted here.

>look up gun shows in Dallas Area

damn, I hope no stingy bastards try to scam. I wonder how these prices at these places usually are.
>>
My buddy has a Russian sks but it's in a shitty aftermarket stock
>>

Usually shit for the DFW gun shows. Usual boomers trying to flip stuff. I only go if I want an AR15 lower for like $30-50 + $10 for door fee and $5parking if fort Worth
>>
>>65241147
>>65241201
My advice for going to a gun show. Do your gunshow and be prepared to tell the boomer exactly why his commercial Chinese SKS is not worth $800. Say for example, he is claiming his is a vietnam war bring back and is asking $800.
"Okay Sir, well there is a CAI import mark here on the barrel, this range of serial numbers indicates it was a commercial rifle made in the late 70s, my offer is $550, what can we do to get to yes?"
>>
>>65241210
Doesn't work in DFW area. There's enough retards the boomer will get asking price over the two days he's there.
>>
>>65240968
>Please help me locate an SKS
I saw one for sale online. You're welcome.
>>
>>65241213
In FL and NC it usually works. Economy has been shit though, maybe they'll budge. Lately I've had great luck at gun shows buying boomer guns.
>>
>>65241103
>In my experience the chinese ones tend to be nicer than soviet rifles
You need to check your experience.
>>
>>65241228
They have a better finish (at least with the Soviet refurbs) the grill paint feels like actual shit, have chrome lined barrels, a spring loaded safety, early pattern Soviet SKSes do have a spring loaded firing pin, which is nice, and I'd say the wood the make is nicer. But in terms of the actual machining, fit and finish the chinese have been better. It makes sense, they took the design and ran with it for much longer.
>check your experience
I currently own a 1950 tula and had a couple of arsenal 26 SKS in the past.
>>
>>65241246
I'm at 5.
>>
>>65241223
The Internet has really hollowed the garage sale boomer out. They hate using technology so shit is getting looser.

Personally I’d rather get a newer mass produced gun for the same price but OP if you’re in it for the history go for it. I just don’t see the point otherwise anymore. The glory days are over.
>>
>>65241263
>newer mass produced gun for the same price
Or less. The Savage Axis II can't be beat. And the Ruger American II is even better.

I mean even if you’re looking for a 7.62…and this is just a cursory glance. I actually saw some cool mid century stuff on there too in goofy calibers.
>>
>>65241263
>>65241266
I mean, I think a good SKS still beats a commercial bolt action if you want a rugged auto loader that you can take right out to the range, and not have to worry about getting a scope and all that jazz. Cheaper to shoot in most cases still.
>>65241278
Yeah I know. I'm looking to rebuild my slavshit collection. Currently have a nugget, Makarov and that Tula SKS. Looking to get a Type 56 next. Hows that albanian? I heard they're not good, but they have such pretty lines.
>>
>>65241330
>Hows that albanian? I heard they're not good, but they have such pretty lines.
They're the worst fit and finish I've had of any SKS I've owned last 30 years.
>Common as shit Russian $1200 I know what I got.
>Albanian $1000
I refuse to buy a Russian if I can get an Albanian for cheaper and always will.

H1B aren't into guns. They're the opposite and very pro gun control. Working the gun shows in DFW, it's tejanos, blacks, and Californian transplants that overpay for everything. I used to sell bca ar15 for $800 at those shows all day. Half of the blacks couldn't pass a background check and were offering 25% over for me to not run a background check. They'd get uppity as shit when I laugh and run a background check and deny the transfer. I'd see them leaving the gun show with a gun though from some private transfer.
>>
>>65242256
The private transfer they'd do was always with another basketball American needing to pay for their rocket science classes. Of course it'd be like some ar15 pistol with five inch barrel, drum mag, brace, bright colored furniture, no sights or optics, and some obnoxious muzzle device they wanted $1000 for since they stopped by my booth asking if I want to buy it earlier

Honestly, brother, I'll do you a solid. I've got a well loved norchinco that's served me well. Still got a lot of life in it. It's non matching and definitely has some wear, but no gouges or cracks in the stock and no rust. The bore is also just fine. Has the spiker bayonet and cleaning kit in the stock. I'll do $400+ shipping for you. Reply to this post with your contact if you're interested.
>>
I cant help you find an SKS, but I can say I love mine very much and it’s worth getting one. I got lucky at a gun show and found a cheap but relatively unused one. I hate sounding like a boomer saying that, but I hope you get lucky and can find one too.

If/when you find your SKS get a chicom chest rig, stripper clips, sling, and if it doesnt come with one, the cleaning kit that fits in the stock
>>
>>65240968

If you live in Canada you can get cheap ones that they will never ban, but you are cucked to 5 rounds.

You can get used yugo ones for $8-900 at gun stores and Chinese ones for about $600. Make sure it's all original and still has the bayonet and trapdoor

You can get bubba sporterized ones for as low as $300 in the right places, but it will cause spiritual damage and it's better to just save up for a budget 7.62 AR.

They are still reliable accurate rifles that are just outdated and not worth it right now since 7.62 is like 80¢ to $1 a round.

Not in Texas, try to find one via private sale, also get stripper clips and a chest rig.

I moved to the US from Canada, still love SKS’s, they are great rifles. The Norinco ones for what it’s worth are basically a mishmash of milspec rifles that were repurposed for sale on the commercial market. People might wrongly assume “Chinese gun=cheap or bad” but they are functional and very reliable. The Triangle 26 and Type 56 the story of China’s army channels on YouTube are a great source of information.
