hello /k/, i'm bored. so here's a storytime about WAR, and the WEAPONS that men fought them with.(jannies. seeing as this is a WAR COMIC and WAR primarily concerns WEAPONS, this is on topic. no more so off topic than for example the fan/k/sia theads)anyways, once upon a time well over 70 years ago. EC Comics released Two-Fisted Tales. which was grittier than most of the other war comics from the time. far from being heroic, dashing military propaganda like most of the other war comics of the 50s and 40s often were. Harvey Kurtzman hoped to show how fucked up war and combat were.if people like this i may post another issue.
>>65241832our first tale concerns the sixteenth century! the Spanish empire. and their.... CONQUEST

so it was the 1970s. and after roughly twenty years of absence thanks to the Comics Code Authority. proper horror comics were allowed to be published under the CCA. over at Marvel they did Chamber Of Darkness. Tower Of Shadows, etc.DC launched the likes of The Witching Hour, and re-launched their House Of Secrets and House Of Mystery titles DC did some genre mixing and out of that we got various titles that combined horror with another genre. in this case. Weird War Tales was a horror/war comic. it was rather successful. running for 12 years and over 120 issues.
>>65248119
>>65248119not that no
>>65248130oops i hit enter before finishing what i was gonna say. anyways. as i was saying....not that NO horror comics were published. just none under the comics code (so 1954 to like... the late 60s)just none under the comics code. most famously Creepy and Eerie which began in the 60s and since they were magazines and thus didn't have to abide by the comics code they were free to do much more than Marvel and DC for example were in the 60s.Creepy and Eerie were both by Warren Publications. which had a title called Blazing Combat. a short lived war title I may post stories from at some future dates.if Creepy and Eerie were equivalent to Tales From The Crypt and Vault Of Horror. then Blazing Combat was Warren's analogue to Two-Fisted Tales. and just as good.ah. but i digress. i'm posting a DC mag. not EC or Warren.
>>65248148oh for christ's sake i forgot the image

>>65248157the first actual story (The Fort Which Did Not Return. i think or the Fort Of No Return. i can't remember the name off the top of my head and i'm not looking at these actual pages as i post them) is a reprint from GI Combat #86
