I just bought this single-shot break-action rifle for fun. The extremely simple mechanism and unregulated nature was what I was looking for to go plinking with. I would really like to put a prism scope (etched reticle) with no illumination on it, but idk if that exists. The idea of something that can take batteries detracts from the minimalist feel of this rifle... Something like an ACOG without the tritium / fiber optic, and preferable cheaper than an ACOG.

If it's .308 I would put my Vortex 4-16x44 with EBR-2C mrad reticle on it and go hunting innamountains.

I went with a 2-7 on mine. I would suggest a primary arms 3x prism. You can just leave the battery out of it. I rarely use the illumination on my 1x prism.
The 2-7 is like a cheaper 1-6 but I still have good close range and longer range ability. Rifle is .357
One of the issues I have noticed for most single shots is they are picky with ammo and POI can shift dramatically between brands of ammo

What caliber? That'll do most of the deciding on what optic suits you. There's the primary arms prisms if you're cheap and fine with a 3 or 2.5 magnification. If it's a 308 or some other round with legs I'd say something like a basic 3-9 or even fixed power hunting scope if you want something light

At what distance?
Have you gotten an idea of its group size?

>Rifle is .357
Interesting, not OP but what attracted you to that over a red dot? That's what I use on my little marlin carbine since 357/38 doesn't exactly reach very far

You could get a vortex Spitfire 3x. it has an etched reticle and manual dial for illumination. You could use it without for the same vibe

I have an old Harrington and Richardson single barrel break action and it came with interchangeable 30-30, .410 and 12ga barrels.
Chevrolet gave it to my Grampa for being Top Salesman k in '54.ansas City

7x is a nice balance between precision and FOV. It’s durr rifle for 100 yards and in. A 3-9 is too heavy for what it is and I can’t justify a 9x on a .357, a prism sight wouldn't be bad but of course its fixed, a 1-6 is another option but I think the budget ones can get heavy. The 2-7 combines everything I wanted. Crank it down to 2x for up close and 7x for 100yds
