Every assault rifles must evolve to AR-15
>must evolve to ArmaLiteFTFY
Most rifles are evolving into SCAR clones desu. Seems to me like AR15s themselves are evolving past AR15s, with the trend towards bufferless designs and picatinny mounted stocks, so the Scar clones probably have more of a future in the very long term, insofar as the AR15s of the future will be barely recognizable as ARs.

why isn't anybody trying to innovate anymore? remember the kriss super V recoil mitigation system? remember caseless ammo? why has everyone given up on the future?
>>65272545Because the computer model says we are doomed.
>>65272545Because there are tons of AR-15, its parts and accessories.

>>65272545>>65272557>innovateThat's not what any of this is about. 1. Small arms don't matter, nobody cares2. Because of 1., and also post-1980s the U.S. having won the Cold War and the M16 became the most widely adopted mil rifle across the west, """"""AR-15""""" became the Kleenex Toyota Camry default """"platform"""" for procurement of all armies world wide in 21st century.None of this has *ANYTHING AT ALL* to do with technology, 'innovation', what the best rifle for the job, is. It's all about bean counter procurement cost, compatibility ease, and least common denominator.>let's use the easiest most common cheapest piece of ______ available that no one has to lift a finger to adopt-acquireThat's it that's all
>>65272341who came out with this shitty image? what's the logic of the labels if they don't organize anything? why put the battle rifle version of the scar? what the fuck is anything?
>>65272586https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Grayburn
>>65272594Grayburn doesn't have the SCAR in it, it has the ARKA, and Sako and Beretta's entries have nothing to do with eachother
>>65272440look beyond the internals. The SCAR archetype is the extruded receiver modular AR18. The construction method is the key as it set the trend.
>>65272688just copied the ACR's homework.
>>65272567That but also it’s just flat out better than all the the alternatives, and even the ones that are better are just slightly modified versions of it
>>65272695i think they're contemporary. C. 2004/2005. Either way, it is totally valid to say that the ACR and XCR stumbled so the SCAR could run. (btw if i was Robinson Arms i would genuinely stage a 3 vehicle car accident for the nigger intern that forgot to submit all materials for the trials. Actual millions lost.)
>>65272596Beretta owns sako, its essentially internal competition

>>65272769No but also the AR-15 is just superior to any other assault rifle platform currently

>>65272341If you had to have one and only one, and couldn't sell it, which would you take? For me, it's the NARP. Too sexy, and with a name like that you know she's too retarded to know she shouldn't put out.
>>65272879I'm leaning towards the 433
>>65272799>"i'd imagine"checked
>>65272795>>65272886The HK433 was a pretty big flop wasn't it? Been on sale for almost 10 years now and so far it only secured small contracts with the German special forces and police, plus some limited use in Ukraine. Is it just because AR-15s are trendy nowadays and people don't even consider other options? Or does it have flaws that aren't immediately obvious to us but show in serious trials?

>>65272545>remember the kriss super V recoil mitigation system? What, a novelty blowback gun where it kinda pulls the gun downwards a bit in full-auto? It's an ok idea, but I can see why it's not widespread.>remember caseless ammo?Probably because caseless ammo has some benefits, and then also some pretty fucking colossal drawbacks which make it not worth it.Cased Telescopic Ammunition is a sort of better inbetween, and looks more promising, though they are still working on trying iron out the kinks of that.Beyond that, just making the casing out of a polymer is straight up doable, and it's something that's already been successfully field tested, so most likely that is going to become a common thing in time.>>65272567Wow, imagine that, people want a good rifle for a good price, so they seek out AR15s and AR18 derivatives.>>65272795AR15s are still being adopted new today, whereas the HK433 has seen almost no adoption at all by anyone. Presumably there must be something wrong with it.>>65272702Robinson DID submit those blank adapters, they were just packaged in separate boxes and the drooling retards at the DOD didn't bother checking.
>>65272970Because he's a gigantic faggot?
>>65272695The ACR has a polymer lower and is a gay nigga
>>65273096>Robinson DID submit those blank adapters, they were just packaged in separate boxes and the drooling retards at the DOD didn't bother checkingIt's clear in retrospect that the DOD always just wanted their big FN contract so someone somewhere could buy a yacht, regardless of whether or not the correct rifle was chosen. Pretty typical military contract shit, the SCAR's goofy ass got dumped from widespread use after a few years anyway so karma won in the end.
>>65272341because physics and biology don't change. but we're seeing the true next evolution in warfare right now. drones.
>>65272341>AR-15No, nobody wanted the gun that farts in your general direction, unless they got it for free and bundled with other military supplies. It's the AR-18/SCAR that won the bowl.

>>65274309>>65274335>G36it was nuHK's 1990s design philosophy MP7 / UMP. And the least successful overall of the three. Not a good idea for an infantry rifle to have its trunnion mounted in polymer receiver. (It's not as critical in the pdw that has magazine-in-grip and much smaller dimension, or in a pistol caliber submachine gun that doesn't even shoot to longer ranges; for both of those smaller firearms the light weight and durability of polymer receiver makes sense and works well)
>>65273878You have literally made no argument for why the HK433 is actually supposed to be better than anything. Faggot.
>>65274343i assume the vibe was that the new polymers seemed like a true wonder material for them, so they used as much of it as possible. and they made sure to stack it on thick and loose for structural integrity and heat dissipationi think militaries would still be using more guns like the g36, but i think the arms development/acquisition hivemind has become focused on looking at whatever the highest echelon delta force operator types like using and trickling that down to every grunt and office worker. hence now every military is adopting less retard proof and cheap rifles and more high speed low drag operator gear
figure out how to make a small projectile go even faster while keeping a package the average retard can operate and you will have the next big thing. until then it's AR city baby.

>>65275297>Glock of riflesyeah but the two are not really comparable mechanically technically history or engineering-wise.The only way it's the 'glock of rifles' is in the mass consumer/mil procurement adoption Kleenex Toyota Camry market sense. Otherwise neither firearm has any common characteristic, nor did either arrive at being the "consumer standard issue" by same pathways. What they do share, is that from 1990-forward when mass globalized standardization of firearm adoption by mil and Law Enforcement was in full swing, each of them became the bean counter's choice. They were each in position at the right time (the M16 because of the collapse of Soviet Union) That's it that's all
