beside big full brim cowboy, these are the only hats that make sense.

got flaps and you can stash stuff in folds when folded up.

plus I guess some extra padding at temples.

USA switched to quasi-Nazi helmets so should do same for caps

Make the caps able to worn with helmet.

Unless you are a cattle rancher, wearing a cowboy hat is the most faggy goddamned thing you could ever do

>USA switched to quasi-Nazi helmets so should do the same for caps

The US already tried something like that. The winter version of the patrol cap wasn't warm enough in the winter to replace a simple watch cap and in the summer it was too warm. Not surprisingly nobody liked them

>got flaps and you can stash stuff in folds when folded up.

Useless feature, you already have pockets and you should get your FUCKING HANDS out of them

>Make the caps able to worn with helmet.

If you wear your Einheitsmütze under your helmet, your Hauptfeldwebel is going to beat you to death. It will be justified. You will go directly to hell.

nothing tops a well fitted cocked hat (tricorn)
If it's sunny on your neck you can flip it around and wear it backwards
if it's sunny to port or starboard you can let either side down and wear it like an slouch hat
if its sunny everywhere you can undo the whole thing and wear it like a boonie
plus it looks cool, although granted it absolutely doe not look good with any post-industrial clothes

It wasn't in continuos service until then, it fell out of fashion here not long after basically everywhere else, and was then reintroduced in the early 20th century for some NCO-ish ranks.

>USA switched to quasi-Nazi helmets
It's not that they straight up copied the Stahlhelm, but when they were designing and testing the PASGT in the 70s-80s the design ultimately ended up looking like a Stahlhelm because they figured out that general shape was best for the structure and protection of the helmet. Same reason they started issuing the helmet covers, since they wanted it to break up the shape of the helmet so it wouldn't look like The Nazi Helmet(TM)

bi and tri are highly practical survival gear since the real ones are can be un-buttoned and let down into Big Rain Hat, or big sun hat, or just sleeping shade, or water bucket, or window shade.

WTF is point of "garrison hat"? looks like it folds down into something practical but don't.

Peaked officer's cap makes anyone look like a douche. Don't seem too practical. Expensive, can't be packed, can't be stored so when indoors and "no hats" you are suddenly like a woman with a purse, except the purse has nothing in it, don't allow add-ons, or cig storage, in rain cops gotta wear those clear plastic covers that really look like shit, WTF is the point? Anyone wear one and like it?

Wearing a bi-corn straight or sideways can be indicator or just shade sun from WTF sun is shining.

i don't buy that cause the krauts and the US both had helmet covers during ; also helmet covers were continuously used though korea and vietnam on the M1s

>Unless you are a cattle rancher, wearing a cowboy hat is the most faggy goddamned thing you could ever do
i do not give a fuck how it looks. cowboy hats are pretty good protection against the sun, which is pretty much the only reason to wear a hat.

as someone who has worn a beat to shit bergmutze for the past 4 years in the forests and mountains, i can say that i would rather just wear a beanie honestly. no hate or anything, i just got beaniepilled and prefer them now.
pic related, i don't wear it anymore so i decorated it and set it on top of my book collection to remind myself of the fond memories i made

yeah sure, you can put stuff in the flaps OR you can put stuff in your pockets instead, safe from the elements and won't risk losing it. the brim and folds are good for blocking out the rain and sun but you can always just wear a sun hoodie plus boonie, i personally keep both a beanie and bucket hat on my person while the rain shell pants and jacket are in my bag. just switch out whenever the weather calls for it.

the folds and brim on the german and finnish bergmutze are about the same size, short brims and longer folds, except for the feldmutze variants. like the one this anon owns >>65278857 the brim is longer and folds shorter, i personally don't like them at all

>>65278857
is this from erel? i have the black panzer and brownish late war heer/waffen ss caps in storage but going to probably just toss them in a donation bin
