Chassis systems look fucking sick. I'd put my Ruger 77 in one if anybody made them left handed.

All glocks are soulless slop.
>>
They can look retarded I agree, but they generally serve a purpose beyond aesthetic. Easy and complete ergonomic control is kind of a big deal for precision rifles. I still personally prefer a "normal" stock ergonomically, but getting one set up just so is way more time consuming and costly

okay, what did shooters do before these ugly abominations? also something being fucking ugly and soulless doesn't make it useless
>>

why you are so butthurt?

They set out to achieve the same performance with atrocious bubba jobs
>>
>>65304476
>Easy and complete ergonomic control is kind of a big deal for precision rifles.
Yeah, this. It's a "generic" method of bringing that kind of personal matching to more people. It's form driven by function, and in that respect I can't really agree with "soulless" as a pure aesthetics complaint. It's driven by capability and economics, which if anything can be said to be the "soul" of most weapons.
>>65304760
>okay, what did shooters do before these ugly abominations?
1. They simply had something worse, same as lots of stuff in guns.

2. They spent more money and time to get the same result, which lots of people couldn't do of course which took them back to #1. But it's always been possible with enough money/skill/time to have whatever stock design you wanted customized directly to you, personally. And you still can! There are lots of very skilled gun makers out there who do custom jobs. There are people doing amazing stuff themselves, and 3D printing/home CNC opens up even more options to more people. But it's good that you can use something off the shelf and cheaper first. I think it's good even if you want to do something nice later, you can spend a few years really finding what fits you best and seeing if that's an investment you want to make.

>>65304765
This too, although I don't agree that messing with fitting and ergos really is "bubba" or atrocious if it works.
>>
That’s super awesome bro but like I don’t remember asking.

Depends on the chassis system desu. Some look good and work well, others are ugly as sin and the owners have stupid combinations slapped together on it.

Don’t think they were trying to be sexy. I think they were trying to be successful by introducing some initial innovation and retaining their market share with subsequent recognitive power. And Glock was. I think the same thing about all major firearms producers since mass manufacturing became a thing and you just mean aesthetically unappealing, which I agree with but which is also pretty much entirely subjective.

>>
>>65304760
they just glass bedded regular stocks, and then aluminum pillars were added around your action screws, wood relieved around the barrel for free floating. match rifles and whatnot were done this way. one done well just looks like a factory stock from the outside. i think a chassis system can be done in an aesthetically pleasing way, but modern sensibilities (or lack of them) prevent that from happening

>i think a chassis system can be done in an aesthetically pleasing way, but modern sensibilities (or lack of them) prevent that from happening
I don't think it's "modern sensibilities" so much as that like pretty much everything the economics have swapped around a lot. Things that used to be cheap because labor with those skills was cheap and precision manufacturing more expensive now cost a lot more, and things that used to be more costly now cost less because precision manufacturing costs less. That magpul chassis in OP's picture is like $700-1000 depending on version, and other places do stuff much cheaper. That gets you out of the box major form fitting with no need for any extra effort. If you can DIY you can save money but lots of people don't have the space/kit for that anymore, and these days if you go to a gun smith just a basic good bedding job alone is going to be $150-300.

Personally I agree that nice wood furniture is preferable, but market forces are relentless. I've got some nice enough wooden chairs an apprentice guy I knew made decades ago I got for very cheap when I had no money, I like them but they weren't priced as anything special just plain wood done ok. Now they're apparently fucking expensive which feels crazy to me, but nobody does that sort of labor intensive pure by-hand wood furniture work for cheap anymore.
