if the germans were really so starved on fuel/synthetic oil by late '44, why did they opt to keep fueling up u-boats with tons of it (even if they were sitting ducks at that point)?
>>65322195When you refine crud oil, the crud yields different grades of fuel. The grade you pour into ships isn't identical to the one you put into armored vehicles and aircraft.
Compared to the amount of gasoline required to operate large formations of military aircraft or armored divisions, U-boats were economical, needing only 100 tons of heavy oil for a single operational patrol.
>>65322195she would never vore her sexo friend
>>65322195Doing anything, ANYTHING to slow the logistical flood from America was the best they could do at that point.
>>65322208This, uboats ran off bunker oil which is a refinery byproduct that was available to Germany in relative abundance even late in the war, especially since most of the rest of their navy was gone by that point.
>>653221951. they used different boat fuel that was in abundance.2. The only hope of winning the war was taking back the atlantic so it was a non-negotiable endeavor even if suicidal or wasteful.3. Germany had no idea that enigma code was broken and that the allies had developed advanced sonar technology and sonar guided weapons that made German u-boats completely obsolete so they always had just enough hopium to keep shoveling resources into the Kriegsmarine
>>65323479They knew about sonar. Duh. You could literally hear it. (See: Das Boot etc.).
>>65325859they had no idea about ADVANCED sonar technology like acoustic guided torpedos were being deployed against them.
>>65325910They had acoustic guided torpedoes of their own and were aware the allies had them too (also they were shit, maybe 1 in 10 actually hit their target, and they were available in very small numbers). What killed uboat effectiveness wasn't sonar or torpedoes or Bombe (it took it ages to decrypt a message, good for strategic purposes but of limited tactical value), it was long range patrol aircraft equipped with radar good enough to spot a snorkel or conning tower sneaking up for air. Which they were aware of too but it wasn't like they could do much about it. Attempts were made at coating snorkels in radar absorbent materials and "flak trap" uboats covered in AA guns were dispatched to surprise allied aircraft, but neither were very effective.
>>65325924>they had their own acoustic torpedosthey were effectively countered and one time a uboat sank itself with one>they were aware of the allies using them against themliterally not true, the kregsmarine was completely unaware of the existence of the Fido >it was a shit weapon and didnt workit was the single most reliable anti uboat weapon of the entire war at 18% hit per warhead launched and the US had to reduce the production order of these weapons due to them performing so far above expectations.I know you think you are smart and trying to UMMM ACKTUALLY but you are in fact retarded. I'm not opening this thread again, goodbye
