If you were in gundam universe what kinda drones would you use to turn mechas into metal coffins?
Ones powered by autistic psychics, because your faggy real world quad copters wouldn't work due to minovsky particle interference.
>>65322411Funnels exist, they're just inexplicably shit because out-of-universe they're not Gundams, just accessoires at best, and in-universe for reasons nobody can explain or even gave any thought about.
>>65322411Wing already perfected the concept. Gundam-tier armor, energy shield and a lite version of a BFG.
>>65322455What if the drones are also MP powered?
>>65322455wire guidance works in gundam
>>65322478They would be huge and easy to spot due to the shielding required to insulate them against the minovsky effect. Funnels and income really only work in space because they're camouflaged against the vast amounts of nothing and can come at you from literally any direction.
>>65322485Yeah but there's only so much boom you can pack into an average drone before it gets really impractical Remember that even basic bitch zakus can tank 120mm tank rounds
>>65322485Not in atmosphere.
>>65322501The feds basically relied on TOWs for anti-MS work before the GM dude, I don't know what you're on about.
>>65322500Sure, just arbitarily give them a 20th century technology for no reason, that's totally reasonable and not completely deranged. How about just giving them a beam rifle, which we know melts through Zakus in a single hit?
>>65322501They're in like the first episode dawg.
>>65322507I'm not really sure what you mean dude. They DID use beam guns, famously before the zekes did. But at the start of the war all they had was tanks and wire guided missiles
>>65322507They did use both beam guns and cannons on them tho.
>>65322411You'd need to make it the size of an ICBM and stuff it with specialized sensors to get through the Minovsky Radiation, in which case you're better off using an actual missile. >But the dollsWe don't talk about dolls.
>>65322531Does Wing even have minovsky shit?
>>65322534I don't think so but it was such edgy fujobait I couldn't finish it. Anything non UC is garbage, anyways.
>>65322539>he doesn't like 00Pleb
Isn't optical communication or computing immune to minovsky effect? Sounds like fiber optic tech still wins.
>>65322508I'm talking about funnels and incoms, which are most definitely not in the first episode. Hell funnels don't actually show up until like, CCA, it was bits before that, which are fucking huge comparatively due to housing their own reactors.
>>65322608Correction: funnels don't show up until some time around Zeta.
>another magic mech thread
>>65322584They do work but they are impractical in space
>>65322608That anon is talking about wire guided missiles tho
>>65322411Just dangle a magnet with some string from your DJI abd fly close to the optical sensors. GG EZ.
>>65322411Realistically, Minovsky particles would lead to the dominance of massed artillery and cluster munitions. Sure it makes long range fire wildly inaccurate but you can compensate for inaccuracy by firing more shells.
>>65322534Nope, no newtypes either.
>>65322864They kind of had that with the land battleships and the xamel but beam weapons overtook ballistics pretty fast and there wasn't as much earth side warfare in mid-late UC
>>65322411>what kinda drones would you use to turn mechas into metal coffins?Smaller drone gundams, real robots.
>>65322411Hyper-maneuverable drone swarms with their weights lightened by Minovsky particles each one of them carrying 2 155mm artillery shells.
>>65322471The plot armor for Wing was so obvious though given the Virgos never used their shields against the Gundams, unless they had something that could pierce them.
>>65322905Land battleships are an underrated Tominoism.I wish we got to see them more in UC
>>65322411They use those funnels that only newtypes can control.
>>65323031what if we just bred the newtypes and had a bunch of brains in jars controlling a trillion funnels
>>65322539>Anything non UC is garbage, anyways.>not appreciating the SHINING FINGER
>>65322917Their is a minimum size you can make drones in UC before they are too small to be properly minovsky particle shielded. That size seems to be about the size of the funnel weapons mounted on later UC suits.
>>65323038ZZ did that with the puru clones, and Victory had a superweapon that was a bunch of newtype brains networked together.
I miss the original implication in the first Gundam that mobile suits were completely fucking pointless in gravity without 6 degrees of freedom. Guess that doesn't sell the toys.
MASERs. /thread
When it comes to dealing with Newtype main character horseshit, hear me out here:We take a Newtype kid, stick him in a torture test tube that's designed to keep him alive, but otherwise subject him to some Jigsaw levels of pain.We then let him broadcast that shit over speakers to everybody on the battlefield. Thus, we have created a brain-melting psychic flashbang to make Amuro or whoever go catatonic by proximity alone. Make sure to follow up on the opening quickly, before any Mary Sue bullshit lets them overcome the debilitating psychic agony waves.
>>65323457That's sort of the plot of Victory, except the concept is dialed up to super weapon level.
>>65323457The Gamma weapon that made people pop like ballon’s was better
>>65322411Target the joints, vents and hands since they apparently need to actually use their fingers to pull the trigger.
This is the ideal mobile suit. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like.
>>65322478That doesn't do anything about MPs fucking with sensors and comms. Now your drone just needs to be fuckass massive (and expensive) enough to actually hold a fusion reactor.>>65322864Pretty much how the ground fighting in the OYW started going towards then end once the Feddies got their shit together. They brought fucking WWII Red Army amounts of artillery to the last big ground battle at Odessa.
>>65322629Not if you use thruster and laser communication
>>65322411tiny mechanical biting ants by the millions
>>65322511>>65322516Exactly, you can see right here he >>65322500 refuses to give the same level of technology to drones as the rest of the setting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Excaliburhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_shaped_chargeA missile drone homing at the particles emission of whatever is powering the Gundam than use a xray nuclear pumped laser to give super cancer to whoever is piloting it, alternatively a nuclear EFP would annihilate the thing too
Bombing of civilian centers is a good way to fight against cowardly little shits using drone warfare, so orbital bombardment of all cities until they surrender then prosecute and execute all drone operators and producers. At least that's what I would do, flattening cities needs to come back so little shit civilians can't support a cowardly war effort like that, but hey I'm just a guy doing what's practical.
>>65322411Autonomous AI powered drones with single shot beam cannons or extremely bootleg beam sabers strapped on. Have them set up like minefields instead of flying in from 10km away. Basically really over-engineered bouncing betties.
Frankly all of this technology already exists in Gundam in both wire guided and wire-free forms, literally from the very first entry. Namely:>bits>funnels>INCOMsYou also already have a man-machine interface, namely in the form of the Psycommu and Quasi-Psycommu, and then depending on setting you have things like the Reuse P Device. Honestly I don't think Gundam as a setting would change much, nor would MS lose their dominance; instead things would just become significantly more metal if these technologies were easier and cheaper for everyone to implement and if computer control could be made more reliable. Your drone team using a beam gun on a remotely controlled wire (already existed from the start) or drone team using a remotely controlled beam weapon (already existed from the start) would just wind up duelling extremely wired up autists or other modified pilots who can detect and attack the human operators directly.
No one here said suicide drones yet?
>>65322411Bit Control Systems. They can fight ranged, block, and melee. They're fast as fuck and tiny, so they're very difficult to hit.
>>65322921Virgos shields could be penetrated with enough power or force, the Gundams were simply some of the few mobile suits carrying enough firepower to do so by themselves.
>>65322411Allow me to demonstrate proper drone technique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGZr_eUV7Ec
>>65324374The Zeeks tried that among everything else, but they didn't really have the resources to both kill everyone on Earth+her spess colonies without rendering Earth uninhabitable (which would defeat their environmentalist bent) and pissing off the other colonies relying on it.
>>65324374STANDING IN THE GAS LINE, I THINK OF YOUUUUUUUU
>>65322411I want to kill them all they need to die
>>65322464>Funnels exist, they're just inexplicably shit because out-of-universe they're not GundamsThat depend if the show you are watching is inside the Universal Century (original chronology) or a derived product. In the UC funnels are the first sign of absolutely top level MS, but you need a space psychic to both control them and give them a target because the magic generators of ship/MS generate particles that fuck up radar and even visual light.>>65322485>wire guidance works in gundamIt let you control them, but you still need to be space psychic aka Newtype, to know where to send them through the jamming particles.Take >>65324392, the Gundam is attacked outside of visual range, it takes psychic fuckery to know where the attacker is.>>65322507>>65322511>>65322516>>65324324>Exactly, you can see right here he >>65322500 refuses to give the same level of technology to drones as the rest of the setting.NtaLook like a misunderstanding to me.In UC anything with magic particle is "funnel" sized, and even then there's a difference between battery-type (need recharge) and generator-type.
>>65324735Addressing your last point, the have their own generators ones are bits, funnels are derived from them, they are a smaller version that do not have their own reactors and need periodic recharging. The tradeoff is that lacking a reactor makes them small enough to be carried by a mobile suit instead of a mobile armor. A bit's operational time is limited only by how much reaction mass it can carry for it's thrusters.
>>65322411F91 had beyblade drones. Granted, they were more intended for total civilian death, but they sawed up suits too.
>>65324524The only time you see the virgo shields get penetrated via a weapon was either the buster rifle, which is a hand held nuke. Or that experimental laser rifle and explodes after a few shots.Anything else is just plot armor where your average grunt was fucked going up against Virgos.
>>65322411Universal Century already has answers for that, which you should know.
>>65322411>>>/m/If it’s using battletech rules than other mechs and vtol>>65322626>also another drone makes X obsolete tard threadTo what end?
>>65324358>homing at How are you gonna "home in" o anything when the minovsky particles are fucking with your sensors?
>>65327083Triangulation, which is something later UC does.
>>65327614That doesn't really answer the question tho.The Minovsky effect not only fucks up wireless signals but also infra red radiation and some of the visual spectrum. It also acts like a constant EMP on any electronic circuit so you need to counteract it with heavy shielding which wouldn't work for missiles. You can visually spot a target and triangulate it's position, sure but when you launch that missile it's gonna be very difficult to actually feed that data into it
