To start us off, I took the trigger off of this little guy and now I can shoot it by pulling the hammer back and letting go.
>>65325450Is that more or less controllable?
>>65325450Instead of fanning the hammer you should just carry a mallet around and hit the hammer with it
>>65325504Been meaning to take it to the range to test it, but in terms of handling it now, it takes some practice to get your hand in the right places (a given due to its size). I've been thinking of getting some bigger grips to help with that. >>65325513I like your thinking anon.
>>65325450That's pretty cool and has potential for landing hits faster. I've done quite a few modifications to my guns, but I really like this P1 because it's such a capable pistol afterwards. I narrowed the safety lever so it didn't interfere with my dominant thumb, widened the grip and built a beavertail from kydex + JB Weld to keep my thumb knuckle off the slide, and filed down the front sight to get rid of that shitty European cover hold.
>>65325787Pretty cool man.
Put a switch on my rifle
>>65325979Hey! I got the same switch, it's pretty shit
Bean
>>65325982Must be out of battery
Springfield 1911 would jam every time, even after having the feed ramp polished, so I put a carbine upper on itNonfunctional H&K sights for no particular reason
Mossberg 395, got it for free, basically rebuilt it
I didn't do this, but I have a Trapdoor Springfield that was owned by a Hollywood prop house and at some point they drilled holes in it and screwed a bunch of crap to the side of the receiver to make it look like a musket for Alamo movies
>>65325450I have a shitty Marlin .22 where you could drop the striker on safe by repeatedly pressing and releasing the trigger. They changed the trigger design without changing the receiver. I ordered the new trigger parts and replaced them. It works fine but now the receiver markings are wrong. Fire is safe and safe is fire.
Oh I used to have this absolute dogshit single shot .22 that would fire one in three times. It was single shot with a big hunk of metal as a fake magazine for some reason. You'd have to cock the bolt manually after working the action
Was going to turn my SKS into a fake Chauchat but then I realized that was beyond my capabilities so I stopped here
I've done a decent amount but recently got a mill which opens up new possibilities. I ported a .44 revolver with a pretty unique port arrangement that's working out really well. Going to make an optic plate for it next then some new wood grips. Hoping to get it lower than other things currently on the market. It's been a fun project. No pics at the moment but happy to answer questions.
>>65326213What mill?
>>65326232PM-728V-TBasically just one of the higher end Taiwanese mills. It's no Bridgeport but I don't have a space for one of those right now. It's in a cozy corner of my basement so that's nice. It has so far been a very capable machine for the size though. Runs 4000 rpm on high which is just above the minimum for milling stainless with carbide tools. Was able to tram the head to within 2 thou across the X and within half a thou across the Y. Fine feed is a bit finicky but the Z feed is where I put the DRO so I just do Z adjustments there since I'm tall and can reach the wheel while keeping eyes on the work and the DRO screen.
>>65326284Nice. I have a Sherline that's way too small for anything gun related except things like trigger parts, which I have used it for. I've wondered if any bench mill would be big enough to scratch that itch.
>>65326213What kind of porting arrangement you got going on?
>>65326008How's it treating you? I have a J.C Higgins Bolt-Action shotgun that has a tube magazine instead. Aside from needing to readjust a screw after a few shots (I need to get some blue Loctite) so the bolt doesn't fly back and hit me, I love it, and certainly wished bolt-action shotguns were still common.
>>65328592Oh, it's fucking terrible. It's basically single shot because the mags just don't work, misfeeds every time. So I'm just doing stupid cosmetic shit to it
Add a paddle mag release to a C93. Its shit craftsmanship on my part but it works.
>>65328636That's a shame... Old springs wearing out or something with the mags?
>>65325986t. Bill Foster
>>65328713Inherently dogshit design
Swedish M/94 carbine. Found it at an auction, rebarreled to .308 sometime in the late 50's by Madsen in Denmark. All non-destructive, the stock is new production.
>>65325450Tied a rope to my musket and called it a sling.
>>65329416This you?
>>65329500Yeah. They h8 me cus they ain't me
>>65329414God I love that thing. Every time I see it I am tickled pink
>>65329525I'm tempted to get the Indian repros. They need touch holes drilled, but there's more variety
>>65325450You, you turned your Minirevolver into a Slipgun?Huh, that's an interesting approach.
>>65326186Not the first person to have that thought.
>>65331400Yes anon, since I've already turned my Uberti Cattleman II into one (pic related), I figured turning my NAA mini-revolver would be an interesting endeavor. Though, given that it shoots rimfire cartridges, the hammer is noticeably much heavier than the hammer on my Uberti... Still, I think it's a cool concept; I've been thinking of getting some bigger grips and modding the hammer to give me more leverage.
>>65326180fucking LOLwhat a menace
>>65329391Well, I have heard of magazines in 12 gauge having problems thanks to the rim so not too surprising, still a shame though.
>>65328713Box mags are not a good combo with shotgun shells in general.>big rim>plastic hull>flat facedAll of this works against it here, especially the last two. Tube magazines is where you can actually get really good reliability.
>>65331554Kinda wanna do this with my heritage, I love fanning it at the range it's stupid fun>>65329391Did anyone ever make a bolt action tube fed shotgun?
>>65335012Yes.
>>65335012That sounds like a sears or mossberg design. I saw one at Cabelas. Full wood stock. Hole cut in bottom for feeding rounds into the tube. Has a strange very wirey looking shell elevator. Like, you can see into it where you normally expect it to have a chromed flap or be wide open showing the bottom of the flat bottomed bolt. Just strange. It may be the JC Higgins 583? Can't remember and not an easy angle to see.
>>65335012Also in the strange shotgun category, the Mossberg 200k. Mag fed. Full wood stock. Pump action with pump forearm that goes over the wood. Utterly bizzare. I can't think of another shotgun like it and mag fed pumps, I don't have another in mind that existed until the 80s/90s.
>>65329414>>65329525Mine is better. Still chambered in 6.5 swede. Better scout scope. No gay ass Mexican themed carvings ruining the beautiful Swedish walnut stock. Completely reversible to original condition. Has killed
>>65334798I mean I figured with the rim; I even recall them trying to remedy this by making 12-gauge ammo without the rim but that fell flat on its face. >plastic hull and flat facedHmm... How can it being plastic cause issue? It being flat faced I take it has to do with it not being easy to guide where it needs to go? >>65335012>"Kinda wanna do this with my heritage-"Give it a shot, it's a lot of fun to mess with. >"Did anyone ever make a bolt action tube fed shotgun?"As >>65335642 said, there was, in fact I do have one in my possession (pic related); while it's not as fun as my single shot shotgun with adapters, it's still a lot of fun.>>65335649Now that's an interesting one.
>>65329414>>65335669Was going to say this in my previous post but apparently the system thought it was spam: >"Ladies, ladies, no need to fight, for I like the look of both of you!"
>>65335787>How can it being plastic cause issue? The hull isn't that rigid and the sides of it can actually compress and deform if kept under load from the magazine spring for long enough in a box mag (as in it makes the cylindrical shape take on a more oval profile). The flat face of it makes it less helpful for going innafeedramp.
>>65335787>How can it being plastic cause issue? The shells squish out of round if left loaded too long in rifle style mags. Silly ass issue but it does happen.t. aspiring Mossberg 200K owner
>>65325787I've though about getting one of those and a spare barrel to make a P1K
>What kind of modifications have you done to your guns?I ground away / dremeled the internal lock notch / lock tab of every Smith and Wesson wheelgun I own that has an internal lock.
>>65335803>>65335941Thanks for the info, appreciate it.
>>65325450Hear me out opInstead of no trigger BIG trigger
>>65336024ok cool, post em on the image board, dude
