What's the /k/onsensus?
>>65327316needs a big injun head with feathers and beads as their logo and i will NOT settle for less
>>65327316my Dad's Savage is better than my Mossberg and both kill deer pretty well.
>>65327316Great for what it is.
>>65327342Cute Apu
>>65327316yes>>65327336hell yes
I have half a dozen Savages I got on clearance from $75 to $200. The .223 with heavy barrel is actually quite nice. I was totally figuring accutrigger was gonna be a complete meme, it's not
I enjoy my LH Axis 2, a little 3x9 and it'll ring a gong at 600 yards (ping really but it's doing the thing that counts).
>>65327484>I was totally figuring accutrigger was gonna be a complete meme, it's notTrue. Do like the accutrigger.
Got a MSR 15 Recon 2.0 that is probably the most bang for the buck you can get.Maybe I'm just not that picky, but I love the ergos (especially that little groove for your index finger). It's very accurate with cheapo GGG 55gr FMJ and is very reliable. The trigger is almost on par with the Timney I got in another AR and MUCH better than the one in my Haenel CR223.All in all it's a gun that doesn't look very fancy, but is very solid and great value.
>>65327316Pros:Low cost, works good, generally great value.Accutriggers are good.Floating bolt head is good.Rifles are accurate.Accustock internal chassis thing works.Cons:Factory new guns seem to develop a rusty dust, like fine steel powder dust covers everything they ship out.The new coating on the bolts of their .22 bolt guns doesn't make operating as smooth as the old bare steel bolts. They often look weird/kind of cheap despite working well. The Weaver scopes and rings they used to include for some rifles like the Axis were absolute worthless dogshit that would break during the first sight-in.Savage precision rifles - even the lower cost ones - will SHOOT. Surprisingly accurate even without taking into account the cheap price.
>>65327316Does anyone else think their bolts are really stiff or do I just have noodle arms?I got an Impulse and the straight pull is amazing, definitely love that gun
>>65327316I delivered plywood to them a few times. Guy at the loading dock was nice. Don't know anything about their weapons.
>>65327316Poor man's Ruger
>>65332047They make their stocks out of plywood??
>>65327316Solid guns. Did they stop using the Indian head logo?>>65327719Hmm, that's a nice lower.Do they sell it separately?>>65332113Laminate wood, son. If you do it correctly (which isn't difficult, mind), layers of plywood bonded together in a laminate with a good epoxy, is a cost efficient way of making a functional wooden stock. This was something that was already being done in WW2, the so called Kreigsmodel variant of the K98k Mauser had a stock made out of laminate wood, because it was cheap to do and was basically as strong. I believe you can also see some laminate wood furniture in some Warsaw Pact weapons.
>>65332113Essentially, you create a block of laminate wood by bonding sheets of plywood together, and then you cut and machine out the stock or grip from that block, like you would with any other wood.Because of the way that plywood is made, in layers (like ogres), that makes it easy to gussy up the material if you want, too. By staining each layer of wood the color you want, that will still be present after it has cured and become a bonded block, and after you've cut it into the shape you want, then you seal up finished shape with a protective coating, and that's gonna make those colors hold.Pic related features some common styles. Just regular brown ones are popular, and then you'll sometimes the alternating layers of blonde and gray (Ruger likes to do that one a lot), and then this green/gray/blonde pattern, that's another you'd see pretty often. The more festive colors are less common, but they're popular enough to be made and sold.
>>65332113Here's a laminate wood stock by Boyd's, for a Savage rifle, celebrating America's 250th with a patriotic red, white, and blue.
>>65327316I was just thinking about Savage while in the woods with a Savage. They need to bring the old logo back. It was fucking sweet.>>65332178Yeah they stopped using the logo in the 2010s. On their ARs, they didn't even have a logo at all. Not sure if they started using the S or still have nothing. Or if they even still make ARs.
