What parts of my 1911 should i be oiling? I hear they like to run wet but then i also hear if you oil the wrong parts it just collects dust and unburnt powder and causes extra wear
>>65328366Oil anything that has metal to metal contact. Apply oil then rub it in and wipe off the excess, the oil you need will be absorbed into the steel, anything excess (visible) will just accumulate gunk from carbon and lead.
>>65328366Read The Fucking Manual
>>65328460It doesnt come with a manual, its like an iphone where they assume you know your shit but eventually new young tards (me) come along and buy it and people angrily dismiss you if you ask any questions
>>65328366Just spray that shit with brake cleaner nigga
>>65328366Everything.Barrel, barrel bushing, the frame where the slide makes contact, the recoil spring, recoil spring plunger, and the slide stop.Use oil, and be generous with it.
Oil it like your dih and give it the tugtugtug
>>65328366Nigga just drown it in oil it and clean it after use. Dirt buildup wearing out your toys is only a problem if you let it be one.
>>65328390this, but to be specific the slide rails are a big one, a drop in the hammer area, a drop in the trigger area where it rubs on the frame. a smear on the chamber area, a drop on the spring, and a smear about half way on the barrel where it rubs against the bushing, that should keep it running smooth
>>65328366HOW TO LUBE IT ONCE AND THEN FORGET ABOUT IT: Dilute 50ml Extreme Pressure Chassis Grease Fortified with molybdenum disulfide with 100ml unleaded gasoline in a container with BBs nuts washers similar and shake-blend it. SLATHER THE ENTIRE WEAPON WITH THE STUFF. Swab the bore dry and put a hundred or so rounds downrange wit the gun. The molybdenum grease has now \lubed all the wearing surfaces for a long, long, long time. it will only wear off over next 1000 rounds or have to be sanded to remove it.Wash the weapon out really well by swishing in a bucket of gasoline. Seriously - you got to remove all the grease. So now it is perfectly dry with only the wearing contact surfaces impregnated with MoS2. I like sewing machine light oil to prevent rusting. maybe you can find find something more neat & tidy to do same job.
>>65328366I use some grease on the recoil spring, and on the pin of the slide stop/barrel link, and on the tip of the trigger disconnector. For the slide rails I use a little bit of motor oil or CLP. Works good man.
>>65328366Here's the big thing that no one ever brings up. Where do you live? I'm in the northeast and it's wet and humid all year around so I slather these fuckers all over with oil every few months. I lightly coat the entire frames and every part in oil and use greese on contact points. I also live in a damp basement apartment. If I don't do this I wind up with rust. My buddy in New Mexico where it's dry and arrid, even in a trailer (easy to air out) in the mountains where he lives, doesn't have to do any of that shit. He just puts a little oil on the contact points and he's good for a while.
y is trevor cryin?
>>65333825He discovered that he really is a cartoon
>>65328366Run it wet. The "collects dust and grit and wears your parts faster" is only a concern if you're not regularly cleaning your gun. Clean your guns and re lube them after every range trip. This is basic maintenance every gun owner should do. It isn't critical for polymer guns with loose tolerances; but for metal framed guns with tight tolerances it is critical to extend the life of your firearm and keep it running flawlessly. I've found grease in the rails to be superior to oil; the movement is smoother. A thin film of a heavyish oil on all moving parts is a good solution for my situation. Your situation may vary and your solution may be different.

You're supposed to learn everything the hard way while getting hazed, then when you're slightly more knowledgeable you have just enough knowledge to dunk on noobs, you need to spend as much energy as possible hunting for noobs and trying to make them feel stupid
