What's the best pistol cartridge + gun for self defence if 10mm isn't powerful enough? I need at least 7+1 rounds and the gun shouldn't be more than 10 inches long. Should weigh less than 1.5kg loaded. Should be able to penetrate level II and ideally IIIA body armor
>>65330097Sounds like youre describing exactly the fk brno in the 7.5 cartridge.Typically I think of it as a capable cyber punk weapon but the niche youre painting a picture of is fitting: an old world warrior buying the most advanced weapon of his time for war in a world full of 38s (9mm).As a warning, commonly accepted handgun doctrine is capacity at 9mm power levels and aim for the areas unarmored. Modern, good, jhp like say gold dot or HST is ridiculously mean compared to the old world ball loads because they expand to ~600thous and often come out the barrel high energy and momentum.
>>65330259Thanks a lot anon, never heard of it but looking into it it looks very effective. Have you ever fired it? What's the recoil like?
>>65330298Never shot it but I believe the recoil springs are the same between 10mm and the 7.5 cartridge suggesting similar amounts of recoil. To swap it to 9mm it uses a lighter spring. Otherwise they're all just barrel swaps I think. There's the steel brno and the polymer ones. In the modern era, polymer is largely the for war material. Both were supposed to be built with duty in mind. Even Paul Harrell had one.
>>65330097A pair of .44 magnum revolvers will get you 6+6
>>65330097>Should be able to penetrate level II and ideally IIIA body armorJust buy Liberty Civil ultralight 10mm ammo. You'll be screaming along at over 2,000ft/s and that'll punch most IIIA. There are high end panels which can handle it but they aren't common.>>65331969IIIA panels explicitly stop basic 6x .44 magnum with sub-44mm backface deformation by requirement. Velocity kills soft armor.
