According to Pete Blaber who was the DFO ground commander during Anaconda after reviewing the full uncut drone footage and after action photos Chapman was KIA immediately and never regained consciousness. He attributes the fire fight afterwards to friendly fire at night between enemy fighters. He's Army, but he might be biased since he did know Slab. He did speak to Slab briefly beforehand and recommended to command not to send his seal recce team in there. Pete Blaber also investigated the death of Pat Tillman and concluded it was friendly fire. Blaber has been kooky on somethings lately, though.
