could these be the future?
motors are a lot of the weight of a tricopter/quadcopter so this might actually improve endurance somewhat. and you'll have to stabilize the image from it electronically to pilot it. it will still be detected by automated systems but to the human eye this should be very sneaky
>>
drones are loud as fuck

if the whole thing spins you can't steer it, it just hovers there
you would be better off with a ballon, larger payload and it's quiet

We're one step closer to manhacks.

> if the whole thing spins you can't steer it
Wrong, it’s just a more complicated computational task, but “more complicated” is not out of reach.
>>
>>65340571
you steer it like a quad by changing the speed of the prop. its not as manufacture as a quad but it should have the same basic movement
>>
>>65340307
So we're in the Beyblade timeline now?
>>
Even my 65mm drone is audible up to 100 feet away. The issue with drones is that they need to expel a lot of energy to keep themselves hovering.

I don't get it. What are they stealing?
>>
>>65340307
can you even put a camera on that ?

Less motors -> bigger heavier motors.
Admittedly a helicopter is more efficient than a quadcopter due to the larger propeller but this system clearly is not efficient, they drag from the rotating body is huge. A helicopter drone is simply the superior option.

I would imagine it would be possible to put a very small camera that free hangs outside and is not electrically connected to the main body. Kinda how a fidget spinner center doesn't spin while the outside does

You can put on a normal camera and sync the video feed with the rpm of the drone giving you a 360° view that you can pan around.
>>
>>65340928
True. But I could see these being deployed by a much larger drone to hit targets that might otherwise see a standard drone. Like having one drop down and fly into a window or something.

Nah. Too much energy being wasted on spinning.

I do wonder how they control it. The demos in your video don't seem to show any purposeful movement.
>>
>>65340960
>how they control it
Periodically increase and decrease motor power to control the attitude of the drone.
>>
>>65340307
I'm retarded, how does it actually spin up or down? It starts off being launched from a pad in one of them but the others just... start spinning. Don't you typically need something to push against for the spin?

How is it in terms of energy efficiency?
Probably not the best for reliability unless its titanium propellers or something.

wow some actual cool tech for once

That's straight up plastic props and a hobby motor
