Since fpv drones have shown logistic truck become easy prey since they have no armor and cant go off road.Is it time to return to tradition?
>>65352588>off road>no armorthose wouldn't help against medium range drones.the payload is big enough to ignore an defeat any armor you'd want to slap on logistics off road capability doesn't really help you dodge the drone when acquired all that muchrunning logistics of road wouldn't help all that much when it comes to not getting acquired. you'd leave tracks that can be followed and drivers will have a tendency to follow a couple of tracks anyways.driving off road also slows you down, increases fuel consumption and comes with a decent chance of getting bogged down if you'd really have to invest the resources there's a lot better things you can do with them like netting, escorts, alternate road routes, interceptor drones ect.
>>65352588halftracks were a product of the technological limitations of their era, currently there's nothing to be gained from them and you're better off picking one or the other
There is a reason obsolete things are obsolete.
>>65352715What were they limited by? Today APCs are just tin cans with big wheels.
>>65352588That's a really good idea actually. You take an open topped vehicle where the armored sections are several times thinner than an M113, then you cram it full of energetic supplies like gasoline or explosives. That should be pretty much impervious to a mid-strike drone with an 10 pound warhead.
