Up until ~2015 new handguns would come with one or two fired cases which in some states were supposed to be sent to the police for registration in a ballistic forensics database, but after spending tens of millions and solving zero crimes they gave up on that.

Held multiple rifles but on end it almost touches the ceiling since it needs length for the accessory pack. Think of a thin Ikea bookshelf but deep. I can't imagine singular rifle crates would be any better on space usage once you have a gun store's inventory. Cardboard takes up enough room, that's why these things end up being worth some good money with their respective rifle.
