I base this on historical examples of blades, where serious combat blades below a certain length were usually dagger-shaped. Maybe the 25 inch cutoff is a bit too late. It's hard to tell because blades in that length category are historically rare. By the time you get past the "easy to conceal" size, you generally want at least 25 inches of blade.
