This, they were already operating MQ-9s like cowboys at low level deep in Iran. The Mojave is probably the closest you'd want to get to that sort of thing and then the real black pill is that long range strike drones like Hornet-RAM2X/whatever do the job for a fraction of the cost when the huge losses in MALE drones that you'd face are factored in.

Remove the gun. Replace it with a big ass loudspeaker and fleshlight dispenser. Better at improving morale and far less friendly fire.

whatever happened to that triton that went down towards iranian territory? judging by the circumstances, that was hacked and brought down right? or was it something else?

In a contested airspace situation, A-10 can reliably beat as many drones as it has bullets (unlike a helo gunship) while still performing CAS. If drones are IFVs, it's a tank that can push the engagement into its favor.

Make it a Gen 5 stealth fighter.
>>
>>65369404
Just build new frames and the big gun. That's the only real issue. No decent replacement exists for the A-10, and the need for it has not gone away.
Thus, you just keep the same plane design, but build new planes so that the fleet has something that wasn't built four decades ago.
>>
>>65369404
You can't, the most outdated aspect of it is the gun and its integral to its function, the meme of it being a gun with a plane built around it is very much true to it
You're better off making a whole new plane instead, keep the overall design and make it carry more bombs and missiles
>>
Melt it down and use the aluminum to make an actual useful aircraft.

>In a contested airspace situation, A-10 can reliably beat as many drones as it has bullets
Like anon said, they can't operate in contested airspace, and they wouldn't use the gun on drones when they can carry 100 APKWS.

Just build a factory for spare parts in a contested seat. It's Space Force's problem in how they get it to fly on the Moon.

The Compass is still superior for A2G, with a way better gun and can handle more battle damage
>>

>>65372301
>The Compass is still superior for A2G
Superior to what? The A-19? Don't be silly, the Brawler will erase entire airfield of air-defense simply because quantity is a quality.
The only thing the Compass has over it is a faster acceleration and ceiling, and mostly because it carry far less weapon.
It certainly doesn't soak damage like the A-19 meme.
>>
>>65369992
The onboard radar is irrelevant for air to air early because everything has trucklike RCS and all the early warning radars are still up. It gets you spots on ships and other emitters though which is ok, but not amazing.
>>65372235
I think the Compass, pretty broadly, is better. A2A going head to head it's actually very nearly a wash and very even but the Vagrant is better at killing non-Compass targets. A2G is much less close and the Compass is much better. Going head to head, a Compass with be 6xMMRs+2xScythe+25mm, Vagrant will be either 2xMMR+6xScythe+20mm or 6xMMR+4xScythe+20mm. Compass vs Vagrant gunfight is mostly a wash from what I've seen - doing gunfight duels I lost or won from both sides to the same players and saw that trend server wide. The Vagrant seems to retain energy like total dogshit despite much better TWR. As long as the Compass never misuses MMRs and gets caught by a Scythe, it seems pretty even rn, but maybe people just need to learn the Vagrant better for its OP BS to show.

Brawler and Compass comparison for A2G is nowhere near as simple as you make out. There are lots and lots of attacks you can do in a Compass that are not at all possible in a Brawler. The specific example of attacking bases is probably the biggest advantage of the Compass over the Brawler, because Brawlers can't get to main bases on first spawns without being intercepted by second spawns or first spawns from another airbase, but Compasses can. Brawler as a first spawn also Cricket locks the player if they don't get anything done, but Compass doesn't. The payload difference is also way smaller than you probably think - max carriage is 16xAGM48+6xAGM68 vs 14xAGM48+2xAGM68, and the Brawler can't actually really afford to do more than 12xAGM48 because it must use IR missiles vs ARH attacks by interceptions to stay head to head and hope for a gun kill on first pass where the Compass can dance its way to a target.

You are giving a ridiculously specific context, a Compass is really not a dancer.
Of course the Brawler can be shot down by any competent omnirole fighters, but so will the Compass if it doesn't sacrifice most of its payload for A2A, without gun.

If the Compass fly faster it is because even it's best load is lighter.
The Compass will be shot down if it is not supported, having to sacrifice half of its payload to have any A2A missiles or a gun. It only recently gained the ability to fire ARH despite not having radar which is a massive buff.
It can actually be shot down by Heli simply because A2G will force them in the same environment, IR will force it close while very vulnerable to IR itself, and it doesn't have much weapon to spare against heli or other.

The Brawler now, it is only because everyone load it to the brim (then die) that it feel sluggish.
Fly well and you WILL get to use half of its load and start dancing in the air.
And God it is loaded.
You don't actually need the meme GAU-8 expy and still have integrated guns.
I can efficiently fly with 18 AGMx48 IRM x4 and keep rooms for appetizers, or fly it with AGMx12 RKTx24 and PABx4 and still have guns.
Even loaded, it laughs at IR missiles, it can escape ARH attack by flying low or jamming fast, erase Crickets & Helis from the sky without using IR A2A, and still have enough load to erase all AA unit from the area.

It is overly specialized, yes, and it could use the same kind of buff as the Compass like equipping A2A on more than two hardpoint or more missiles type like AGM-99.
It likely won't be buffed because no one would believe it doesn't get special treatment as "the A-10 meme".

If the Medusa could just aim for the cockpit glass what sort of range do you think it could kill pilots at with its laser? Its extreme range to destroy Meteor sized missiles is 10 km, being mostly ineffective until 6~ km. I imagine flash boiling a meatbag would work past that, maybe 15-20 km.
If its aiming was consistent (hitting a pilot in an aircraft is going to be easier than a non incoming air to air missile) I feel like this would be a Dreadnought moment where everything would have to be redesigned around it. You'd essentially have a re-usable medium range missile with de facto instant travel.
If the cockpit isn't visible from that aspect it could target control surfaces or engines. The only reason it isn't the anti-everything weapon it should be in the game currently is that for anything besides missiles it just shoots center mass.
>>
>>65374573
Honestly a laser that powerful could blind enemy pilots from all the way across the map.
>>
>>65374586
Yeah but the demonstrated capacity to hit a missile at 10 km is what I am basing this on, I would find it not being able to aim that precisely from 150 km much more reasonable than saying anything in my post wasn't feasible.
