Can laser guidance work for Anti-OWA drones?
>>
>>65370411
LIDAR guidance probably can, yes. As long as you have a cone to work with, even a soldier will be capable of keeping track of a drone.

In fair weather.

have a drone lase it

Yeah that seems to improve line of sight
>>
APKWS is laser guided and used to great effect in anti drone duty in ukraine

Don't they cost like 30k per unit?
>>
If you're at the stage you've got a guy in the open able to fire a laser at a drone to target an anti-drone in, you can just fire a fucking laser at it.

That's what startstreak does.

There's a reason startstreak posting stopped.

DEWs are far too expensive and complicated. This approach is more reliable.

APKWS2 does, the original is half the cost. The main thing that's added with 2 is an IR tracker for fire and forget capability. They're being used against Shahed/Geran style drones that are much more expensive than they are, not $500 temu drones.

Layered defense combined with doctrine is what will reduce UAS systems down from their current throne of ground warfare.

>EW jamming and locating RF signatures for fire missions
>50-100kw lasers mounted both on AFV's and dedicated C-UAS vehicles acting as modern day zoomerfied AAA
>20-30mm autocannons with AB munitions
>short range cost effective missiles made specifically for C-UAS
>drones made to detect and destroy enemy drones
>Successful breaches and exploitations forcing maneuver warfare creating battlespaces that are far larger with units much more hidden and unpredictable which also limits the logistical capabilities of enemy drone teams, reducing them from fortified bunkers with stockpiled drones to guys with some drones in a ruck or a single truck without any clear idea where to even send them

There's also the possibility for C-UAS loadouts and missions for aircraft but that's much more hypothetical.

With the size of electronics these days you can easily fit them into the quadcopter itself so why bother with ground guidance?
