>>65372583A lot of this is a symptom of Richard Marcinko pioneering the Seal to book deal pipeline building up their public reputation before being revealed as a cancerous shitheel who set up the seal to attract morons like Chris Kyle. Over the decades the seals have racked up marginally more public fuckups, fraud scandals, and war crimes than the rest of SOCOM. This is more a case of them being caught more often than being fundamentally worse, but it is a bad look.
>>65372583It's hard to explain just how out of hand the SEAL wank got in the 2010s. I had to read Lone Survivor for high school summer reading which is crazy because I was in a fucking blue state. Then we got Zero Dark Thirty, American Sniper, and 13 Hours, which all mythologized in the public consciousness the SEALs as the peak operators of the GWOT and the pinnacle of our armed forces. Your average burger doesn't know who delta force is, but the term navy seal is unanimous with competence and lethality.
Modern day Navy SEALS are like 30 percent trans. You can opt out of pushups, just say your arms are tired.
