As an addendum to prior posts on finding good locations such as >>65339039: some jurisdictions have spooky infrastructural installations that are, due to forgetfulness by policymakers, technically legal for members of the public to explore. For example, I know a city that has no prohibition on entry to the sewer/storm drain system. Make sure to check all sources that could govern this kind of property if you want to STALK it:
>state statute
>city/county code
>records of utility district or company that could have oversight
>posted signage
>legal significance of fencing/markers
Also be mindful of more broadly applicable laws that can affect aspects of STALKER activity:
>weapons carry (you DO own guns, don’t you?)
>open containers of alcohol
>operating hours of park land
and so on. Avoiding being seen while doing anything that would be perceived poorly by normie types is of course advisable and part of the fun, but you don’t want to throw your life away for no reason.

Nice, a good S.T.A.L.K.E.R. thread! You guys might be interested in an adventure of mine from earlier in the year.

>Be me
>Best friend is a recently retired AF Security Forces and a social butterfly
>While stationed at F.E. Warren, he befriends an older couple who happen to own an abandoned Atlas missile silo
>He gets permission to visit the site, as he helps with restoration and may become the future owner
>Get the opportunity to meet my best friend while he is in the area and I am returning from a business trip
>Since I don’t have a lot of time, and because it would be cool, we decided to visit the silo in the middle of the night
>We bring guns partly because of the LARP, partly because people sometimes find the site and trespass
>When we arrive, clear the site, then prepare to enter the silo
>Main entrance is covered in a thick layer of tumbleweeds, have to climb down escape hatch
>Have to climb down 2-3 stories worth of stairs

stalkers actively look for something and would never go somewhere dangerous if there weren't artifacts there fetching a good price. roaming an abandoned hospital just to get the jitters like some underage edgy emo tryhard is completely different and diametrically opposed to the stalker way of life. think of them as armed gypsies but if they get caught they don't go to jail but they're folded inside out by some alien anomaly.

Don't pull your gloves this far, it makes you look like you are about to clean a toilet. Soviet belt over the hoodie gives off a weird look.
The jacket, pants and hoodie combo is actually decent, or you can swap the hoodie for a button up shirt for bruce willisesque dadmaxing.

If you want a slav touch get a flatcap, ditch the gloves and move the belt stuff into a comblock gas mask bag over the shoulder or a small backpack.

Or just ignore me, it's not like I know how to dress.

Dadmaxing isn't STALKER. I do have a shoulder rig (I can actually CCW it when it doesn't have a bunch of shit stuck on front of it), but then I'd have to ditch the hoodie because it attaches to your belt, and I have to take the folding stock off, and there's one less mag pocket. Also, it is nowhere near as STALKERy as a Polish PPS43 mag pouch hanging off a Soviet belt

True, unless you style it like an Odessa taxi driver. Even harrington jackets look slav when worn with a wifebeater and flatcap.

I like that Sudayev pouch BTW, just that unused soviet belt gives off weird vibes. Doesn't look like something you or ypur dad brought back from compulsory army service.

Looking at my shelf:
Beginning of The Mysterious Stranger kind of reads like a skinwalker greentext. They go innawoods and meet this guy who's not acting like a normal human and creepy supernatural shit starts happening
Metro 2033 has slavs in abandoned buildings and there's some philosophy talk. It's okay. Haven't read the other Metro books.
There's this light novel series called Kino's Journey that never got a good translation into English. There's a girl named Kino who visits various weird locations on her motorcycle, and she carries a Colt Woodsman and an 1851 Navy. Author is a /k/ommando. Chapters are all self-contained, sometimes they're action, sometimes surreal shit happens, sometimes it's just the author ranting about gun laws. Somewhat janky fan translations here https://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Kino_no_Tabi Act now, link rot's kicking in. There was also a good anime in 2003 and a lame anime in 2017. Subs not dubs. Ignore any tranny who says the girl is a they.

I got caught, not on private property but on the trail right at the edge of his property. I was wearing a flecktarn parka but other than that I wasn't dressed like a tard, and I didn't have a visible firearm. I played it off cool, I said I was just looking for the old ghost town to take some pictures and asked him if he knew anything about the history of the area, he politely told me to fuck off and that there wasn't anything left of the ghost town anyway. Basically the key is to look like a naive white dude on a day trip and not like a freak with a gun and a gas mask planning to build a squat. I remember reading a stalker book that was pretty cheesy but it had a part 2 set in the middle east with a second zone and there was a group of marines lost to the zone who became monolith 2.0 but still kind of sane and were recruiting and culling noobs that joined their cult or something. IIRC they had tribal wives too, it was bizarre. They end up teaming up with the protagonists. I vaguely remember there was also a firefight between I think the chinese vs a bunch of the stalker factions holed up in a shitty bar. Also the ending was
really blackpilled with some artifact thing that makes the protagonists go insane and the main character has to kill his younger buddy/protege and this other african stalker confesses they he murdered someone and got away with it and also is shot and killed.
question for all of my /stalker/ friends out west. i'm from the southeast and this past april visited north/central AZ. on two separate occasions on two separate trails to two separate hikes we saw
1) group of 4-5 guys 100 yards off of a public trail just posted up with a couple of jeeps shooting at some makeshift targets they had set up with a natural dirt berm behind them
2) guy solo practicing pistol draws and such just a quarter mile or so down a paved road on public land
so is it literally just the land of the free out there? as soon as you drive past the brown signs showing BLM or federal lands you can be full on guns out with no worries or issues?

Obviously more "correct" stuff is cooler/better but I'm surprised people are getting upset about non-combloc stuff in not-an-old-bunker. If the hoodie and sneakers are Adidas though, then he's good to go desu. Most importantly, he must play slav music, take a sip of vodka every once in a while, and shout A NUUU CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE upon discovering good loot. This is how to ensure true slavination of his brain.
>>
>>65396219
>NTA but I always thought that the stalker challenge threads were more "innawoods/exploring abandoned shit with guns" rather than strictly adhering to the exact aesthetic of the stalker games.
He's wrong about STALKER being an aesthetic. STALKER is an action. The aesthetic from the games is of course iconic and practical, but not the end-all be-all. You can dress like a homeless bum, but if you're deliberately exploring abandoned locations (like fucking Pripyat) to potentially come up on some artifacts or loot, then yes, you're stalking. Look at the actual challenge for example:
>Loner (+0 Points)
>Weapons: Any
>Clothing: Any
>Failure Condition: Dying IRL
>+15 Points for an outfit that includes body armor and CBRN and is primarily OD Green or Coyote Brown
There is nothing wrong with being a novice loner. You can always ratchet up the slavination once you get more confident in your abilities. He does have a point in dressing the part as keeping in the spirit of the challenge though. If you're gonna do it, might as well do it in style.

Kek yeah humidity is a bitch. When I was up North during the summer it was only like 70-80 degrees, but humidity just makes the air so thick and heavy, even with light clothing I’d be soaked with sweat. That’s why I don’t mind the 120 degree summers if AZ. It’s hot but manageable.

I get where you’re coming from but I think we’re inherently better positioned to keep things kino here because we can shit on people for being fat slobs whereas you can’t really do that on leddit. I’d rather encourage anons simply getting out and DOING the stalking than talk trash about their gear not being drippy or “canon” enough. A guy who throws on a basic earth tone hoodie and explores an abandoned factory with a basic pistol is way more /k/ (and more in line with the true spirit of STALKER imo) than even the most meticulously vidya-accurate loadout picture taken in someone’s living room or an unspecified “spooky” background. The ideal aesthetic of the challenge is of course taken from the fictional setting, but simply DOING it regardless of what you own or where you live is a quintessential part of old poorfag /k/ culture that I’d hate to lose in this era of consumption flexing.

I dont wanna browse /x/ and I know Phoenix proper has fuck all in terms of cool stuff really, only thing cool in Flagstaff are the steam tunnels near downtown on either side of the tracks but thats mostly been boarded up or concrete sealed now.

Well, Sidorovich is himself a Stalker in its final form. He just sits behind a desk in a bunker to sell and buy junk other Stalkers don't want. You can say what you want, but Sid is a veteran Stalker who has had enough encounters with the Zone to understand its a very dangerous place. And Stalkers aren't all military professionals, some are adventurers, doctors, mafia, smugglers, technicians, anarchists, and idealists. A Stalker is anyone that ventures into the zone. Sid is a trader and crossed the border to the Zone while Anomaly detectors did not exist. Hunting for Artifacts was extremely dangerous without these detectors, not to mention the packs of beasts that roam the Zone. Most free Stalkers don't survive for long, but Sid was able to leverage his connections to people to open open shop, keep supply lines open, and upcharge Stalkers on artifacts sold to him. And what drives Loners more than anything else is money, because without money you can't get better gear or buy food or drugs needed to offset the radiation. Bandits and Mercenaries are driven by money too, but their money is earned through theft, murder, and government contracts. Duty, Freedom and Monolith are the most military of Stalkers, driven by ideology and more willing to die. Monolith is the most fascinating because despite being possessed, they still have a will and a conviction to fight for a God that exists in the center of the Zone. They are well coordinated and supplied despite being hated by every major faction.

Its okay to be fat or weak in the Zone, just don't venture any further north than Rostok. Cordon and Garbage is where you belong. Loners are bottom of the barrel anyway.

Texfag here, how do y'all find areas where you can actually burn some ammo without risk of getting tipped off to the cops by the local fudd?

I've spent the entire time since this thread went up investigating spots to stalk, and almost everything I found is almost within a mile of some rich fucking farmhouse or small business.
And for other texans, would you recommend the desert to the west, or the forests to the east?
>>
>>65410059
What kinda "military shit" are you wanting? Camp Bouse was supposedly a secret WWII military training camp but there's not a whole lot left of it save for some concrete pads. There's also Camp Reno from the Apache wars. Also not much left except for some rock walls. Out by Star Valley is a concrete building that was a seismic monitoring station supposedly from when they were testing nukes in Nevada. There's a few Uranium mines scattered across the state. And if you look hard enough on google maps you'll see random triangles scattered across the desert that used to be airfields.
>>
>>65411110
If you're in the West Texas area, go to New Mexican BLM land for innawoods, it'll be a good few hours drive, but it's worth it. Most people never go there and if they do they'll keep to themselves.
I've never been to a real actually forest that wasn't some gay ass national or state park so i have no idea where the good spots are. If you live in the DFW metroplex, I hear the Ouachita Mountains in oklahoma/arkansas border are good, but I wouldn't know from experience.

For urban stalker shit, you're shit out of luck tbph; you can find ghost towns and abandoned areas if you really want, but I wouldn't risk being at the other end of a gun barrel, since those places always have squatters, reclusive owners, or some nigger will call the cops. And if you're going in full larp gear, you're going to get shot at. Maybe in the really remote parts of the state there are decent remote areas, but i doubt it.

It's tough shit, but that's how it is.

Efficient use of line returns on your mobile device, very nice. The way you captured an image of a text document really dovetails with the idea of 4chan as an "image" board, as opposed to a text board. Now let's see Paul Allen's list.

I went through the list and annotated the places that looked most promising. I eliminated a few that were either just a hole in the ground or very popular tourist destinations.
>Ashfork Dam
>Gillespie Dam (stalked)
>Octave (stalked)
>Skull(skeleton) Cave
>Dupont Cabin
>Wyrick Ranch
>Martinez mine
>Rock House Cabin
>Gold Nugget Mine
>Scadden house
>Swansea Mine
>Two Guns
>Gold King Mansion
>Old China Dam
Dove season starts in September and Quail in October, so I'll choose my autumn stalks for places likely to have birds. Meaning in the desert ideally with a water feature; gold king mansion, old China Dam, Martinez mine, scadden house, swansea Mine, good nugget mine, and rock house cabin.

I'm no expert, but despite being known for brutality, the cavalry doesn't seem like the sort to make gruesome tableaus of corpses or bones. It seems more likely something the Apache did to the Yavapai. The Apache were the least liked by all the other SW tribes. They were referred to as "rattlesnake people".

While I don't have really any sort of abandoned human shit, there is a lovely and largely unoccupied area that I want to look into visiting come early to mid winter. I like the cold and I mostly want to dodge ticks. Think such an outing for maybe 5 to 7 days would be enjoyable? Carry weight isn't really an issue as I'm built like an ox and do great in the cold.

Well shit I hope there is. I'll be honest I've never actually seen anything even close to that and I've always wanted to see it first hand. Either I'm wrong and I have a lovely camping trip, or I'm right and I have one hell of a story to tell. Don't always get the chance to face down horrid creatures of the old wood with a bearded ax every day, right?

I'd like to leave my phone behind and rely on just a radio, my GPS, and some form of PDA or something similar for music and pics. Is that idea reasonable or simply a death wish? last thing I'd want is to die in a stupid way. Gotta make sure to allow environmental storytelling.

Pic is woods outside my house. 110 acres of rural forest with a huge bog nearby. Lovely place. Rate on 1 to spooky.

Not really. It was weirdly quiet out there, normally you can hear wind or bugs or a coyote off in the distance or something, but it was just dead quiet and all you can hear is the blood in your ears, and sometimes you hear an engine from somebody else out there doing janky shit on a logging road in the middle of the night
Ended up leaving before sunrise because I couldn't really build a fire (hasn't rained in weeks and the campsite was full of dead wood and pine needles) and driving down the mountains with my new LED yellow fog lights sounded more fun than lying in a hammock waiting for it to be time to leave.
Took the Double Bullet >>65386087 home with me, so that counts as an artifact for the stalker challenge
>>

A work of art. Probably what caused the place to be so quiet if I had to guess.
>>
>>65376542
>Do you think the feral negros are going to be running to the cops?
They absolutely will
>>
I have found an area that I would probably go off into. It's off along the logging roads and away from most everyone. I'd have the car for emergencies, but the area shouldn't be too hard to get through. If the area is boring I can just pack up and drive somewhere else. There are dozens of places like this I can go, so it's just a matter of finding some.

If any of you find a potentially unique location to innawoods at for a few days, post em. Maine is one hell of a place to find who knows what out there.

It's gotten so bad. Probably 75%+ of the old crowd has left or doesn't post. The current userbase are really obvious reddit transplants or even worse, Twitter weirdos who think they're personally fighting the Ukr-Rus war for their side of choice by spamming.

No one knows anything about guns anymore. Any thread with a question or discussion of anything will be full of bad info that no one is calling out, and dumbass meme responses. Then someone will post a drone video from Eastern Europe.

We don't even have nonstop threads about the new massive NFA breakthrough which tells me a very large portion of the poster base are nogunz.
