>>65379901good job missing the point my melanated friend
>>65379936>my solution is just give up cuhreddit defeatism, victim mindset, dumb jawn can't even look up m2ap reload
>>65379769Is new 5.7x28 brass available, and the rest of the components, or would I need to buy new ammo and reload? Is the unique lubricant proprietary or can I buy it or use something else? Just making draft plans.
I shoved some 5.7 brass up da ass how do i get it out?
>>65379949not sure if new brass is available but once-fired definitely is and the lacquer is maintained.many 5.7 guns don't even need the coating to work. it was specifically for the p90 so they ran through the magazine better. IIRC Smith and Wesson specifically states their 5.7 handgun works without it
>>65379959great info thanks
>>65379839400 gn hardcast…. 91.5 gns h335, 2200 fps. 10 inch revolver…. Will it pierce it? Probably not, is the person wearing it going to be in any way effective, also probably not..
>>65381391Works better if I post the photo…. Damn.

>>65381393>silly putty bullets I see you are a man of fine taste like me

>>65381789No. I’d like to but I’ve got some kinks to work out in my powder coating adventures. Also need some heavier .500 molds…
>>65379769Went overpressure with my newish creed rifle last weekend, extractor marks and cratered primers. Also had a sticky bolt but didn't realize at the time since I jerk that bitch anyway.Turns out my loads, made to spec, were jammed hard into the lands. I made a dummy round and seated in pretty deep until they stopped jamming in (marker on bullet method).Even some factory ammo was jamming up a bit, hard to close the bolt although didn't give any pressure signs (did get a FPS boost tho lol)Just a reminder to double check with a dummy round etc with every new rifle you load for
>>65381393big boiz
>>65381786That's cheap, sorting won't be that hard, just sort as you need them
171 .45 200gr SWCs finishedWorking on 130 .45 Super 250gr currentlyI have 70 260gr .451 bullets left that I'm loading for Supers nextThen .38 full wadcutters, probably have 200+ bullets left in the boxJust getting partly used boxes of bullets or bins of brass cleaned up, then I'm going to do some .30-30. Haven't done bottleneck cartridges in 10+ years...
>>65381391This won't do anything reliably through a competent plate rated to stop 7.62x51mm M80 six times.
What firearms are particularly good for reloaders?I know Ruger revolvers are robust enough to do stupid loads with them, and the Thompson Contender is great for getting lots of different barrels for different odd calibers. Are there any rifles that are great for reloaders?
>>65383211Probably won’t penetrate, but it’s enough energy that whoever is wearing it isn’t going to be effective for a while. Brute force is a bitch
>>65383921Contender or encore with a rifle stock….
>>65383921Modern bolt actions
Okay I got dies. Now what? There's no reloading data for 7.5fuk anywhere, not even hobbyists. There's a CIP drawing of the cartridge dimensions and a maximum pressure specification, that's it.How do I derive a powder charge from that? How do I get .307 bullets?Do I smash smaller ones fatter or do I squeeze bigger ones thinner? Is .307 even the correct OD? Do I need to do that melty bore gauge thing to measure the lands and grooves?Who even makes appropriate options in 95-101 grains? Factory loads are mostly solid copper with one JHP offering, unknown if bondedThis is a magnum round, is using ~1,200fps FMJ pistol bullets even safe? How would I go about resizing new brass? The parent cartridge is 10mm magnumI understand the basics but this isn't basic. Also I have never reloaded before and don't ahve a press lollllllllll
>>65384159
>>65384117Newton's third law and good plate construction unfortunately says no to that one ghostrider. Because this round is a poor penetrator, dudes running trauma pads or preferably CAPs will have no trouble against it.
>>65384159Good luck, fren!
>>65379839.22lr, 9mm pccshoot around the plate with something you can control to an incredibly high degree, not through it.
>>65384165What’s the cheapest plate you can get? It would be interesting to actually try it.. best video I can find is 500 bushwacker vs level 3+. Which It does seem to disintegrate
>>65384323Absolute cheapest is the Protech X-CAL LP AT $46 a plate shipped off Gunbroker, without fees, but it explicitly needs select IIIA soft to make rating and they're do not drop plates in questionable condition..500BW could likely brute force it. I'd try maybe a cheap Militech Alumina RF2 to get a good baseline, but most people are running IVs, not IIIs, RF1s, or RF2s, and IVs are good for .30-06 M2AP a lot faster than your .500BW, plus packing a hefty steel penetrator.
Does load data in manuals ever "go bad"? I assume that a load for 9mm in the 1990s is just as valid if you follow all the criteria.I've got a 90s Speer manual that lists loads for .38 special using H110 powder, which I was led to believe was relegated to magnum cartridges. I want to try it just to see if I can make some fiery .38 loads.
>>65384419>fiery .38 loadsJust use the Sierra .pdf for +p
>>65384419Sometimes you’ll see updates. There was a bit of that when they started testing for max psi instead of cup.. a few powders and loads turned out to be just a touch uncomfortably close to dangerous.
>>65384419Also 357 mag had its max pressure cut down by Saami at some point, so some of the older load data may be a bit hotter… interestingly Europe’s cip standards weren’t similarly changed
>>65384479I think my Speer #11 manual has the older data. I'm interested in developing some nice .357 loads, so I'll start with more modern manuals to build experience and see what the older ones say later.
>>65384718>developing some nice .357 loadsUse GRT

Do you really need a deburring tool and a case lathe to reload rifle rounds to just fuck around? I bought some never fired cases and I just want to reload to shoot a surplus rifle
>>65385921You need to trim cases to length as they stretch out when fired. That is important. The deburring you might as well too.
Repostan. How clean should cases be on the inside?
>>65384199And if they have soft armor?
>>65379839Quickly Repeated shots
>>65384165I will buy you whatever plate you want if you are willing to take one of those in the chest.
>>65386191Adept Colossus Heavy that eats .50 BMG AP with 40mm BFD at point blank range.Future is now cuh
Cool, you'll let me shoot you then.
>>65386213Homes gonna catch a charge cuz he aimed high
>>65386216Reloading General is a nonnigger zone. Please return to /arg/ sir
>>65386166>How clean should cases be on the inside?Mine are never perfect. OK enough
>>65386221You can't even afford a colossus heavy
>>65384365M2ap running at 2880 is about 2000 ft/lbs less energy than 510 gn bushwacker at 2150…. 5236 vs 3039. Like I get that you want to believe in armor. But man at a certain point newton takes over and just doesn’t care.. again I don’t know if it’ll penetrate the plate, but your not gonna feel happy healthy and effective after taking the hit…. You can get the 350 gn Lehigh solid copper penetrators hitting up around 2500 fps out of a 10 inch BFR…. Slightly less overall energy (4858) still more than the 30-06, but probably better performance against the plate…. Also it’s a six shot revolver…. How many rounds is the plate meant to take?
>>65386224I figured it’s just so seating the bullet doesn’t bulge the case because the of the fouling
>>65386344>seating the bullet doesn’t bulge the case because the of the foulingIf it's that scummy, I don't think it would be able to be reasonably cleaned short of an ultrasonic cleaner.I dry tumble mine. If I can't get them clean enough that way, I'd just scrap bucket the piece in question.
>>65386355Yeah same. thousands do matter doing this shit but it would be a nonsafety issue even at worst
>>65386341>510 gn bushwacker at 2150…. 5236 vs 3039And the bushwhacker is wider, has worse projectile geometry, and no penetrator. There are Level IV plates like the Gilliam 8002 which no sell .416 remington magnum but have a much harder time with .300 winmag Swiss P AP. .500 won't get through the strike face into the backer.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q7LkcW_NQY>How many rounds is the plate meant to take?Several, if it's a good one.
>>65386165Do I still need to trim new brass after one shot?
>>65386783Measure it and find out.
>>65386802and if I don't trim it....it means I don't need the deburring tool?
>>65386817Probably not, but the chamfering tool is cheap and the inside chamferhelps seat the bullet. You are totally going to be ok for a firing or two, but as you get more into this, you're definitely going to want to start working on it. It also depends on what you are loading. Rifle cartridges and auto pistol cartridges that head space off the case mouth (most of them) are way more sensitive to case length then say revolver cartridges... at moderate pressures. Do all the things perfectly if you are pushing it and, of course start small and know the signs of trouble.
>>65386400That spot… where he peels the plate off and the solid clay block has multiple baseball sized divots in it…. That’s your problem..
>>65387067>solid clay block has multiple baseball sized divotsThat's fine, because your body isn't clay and is much more elastic. Also that plate got shot about seventeen times.
>>65384419Powder changes over time but just don't go straight to max
>>65384419You should be chronoing if you’re trying to push limits.

>>65387185Well I shoot the MAC10>I shoot the MAC10https://youtu.be/Jm2EfSMCc0M
>>65387185Neat video man. But I’ve also seen 500 bushwacker throw a 12 inch gong back horizontally and pull the stand along with it. 500 mag will wrap it around the crossbar. Until someone actually tries it you just have weirdly optimistic hope.
Why not just shoot a real rifle instead and trivialize piercing armor? You can get 7.62x51 to M2AP with a little bit of load development
>>65387288>just wear a stack of magazines under your vest
>>65387614It's illegal to carry a rifle in my state, but I can have a pistol just about anywhere.
>>65387538>copeArmor also distributes and captures energy.>>65387819You do realize that video is from the 80s, yes, and shows very outdated armor?
>>65387614My Protechs are rated and tested for M2AP over 3,510ft/s. You're gonna need more than 7.62x51.
Gentlemen, it seems our little thread has been inflated by a massive faggot. Remember, the key to happiness is not to argue with stupid people.
>>65388423>rent free
>>65388380You're going to need more than m2ap
>>65387823If you're concerned about being able to reliably penetrate armor, it seems rather silly to be concerned about the legal ramifications of carying a rifle. I mean are you anticipating roving gangs of negros in rifle plates or something
>>65388773It humorously has no special threat testing against M993, but Protech does tend to withhold that kind of testing and it does compare to the Adept Colossus M2AP v0-wise so it should be fine there, but M993 @ 3,700 out of a .300Wby should be the ticket.Otherwise it's brute force with a .50 cal or use exotic AP.
>>65388781>I mean are you anticipating roving gangs of negros in rifle plates or somethingEveryone has plates these days. Highcom sold 20,000+ 4SAS4s in the span of a few months back in late 2024 early 2025 and would have sold tens of thousands more if there wasn't a scandal revealing the plates fucking suck. That was just one model. RMA makes millions selling plates basically just to civilians. They aren't great but they are... passable with reservations if push comes to shove. That was without a buying panic like when Obama or Biden became President or during COVID.Botach had about 200 sets of 4400s, expired Hescos, for $100 a set and they sold in like two weeks. Dozens of sets of steel plates are sold on ebay of all places every single day.Armor expiration is mostly a myth, minus adhesive going bad. 20-30 year old plates still work. That means the supply of armor in the US always goes up, never down.If things get nasty, people will be armored. Some better than others.
Merging the wandering theme of this thread to its original topic of reloading, what sort of 5.56 loads should I be focused on loading up if armored threats are going to be a problem? I've got a big pile of factory M193, so I've leaned toward loading 75 or 77 grain bullets just to have something different. If I'm worried about an ugly, armored future, should I be only looking at making penetrators?
>>65389056>what sort of 5.56 loads should I be focused on loading up if armored threats are going to be a problem?Depends on armor material.1. If versus steel or titanium, M193 at over 3,300ft/s.2. If versus polyethylene, M855.3. If against both or ceramic, M855A1 up until basic RF2+ plates like Hesco 3411s or Militech RF2s, then either make it move quick or practice tight shot spacing.4. If against IV you're fucked without tungsten core, and even then it's wishy washy. M995 only defeats plates with boron carbide strike faces, and occasional, rare, but around steel or titanium IVs.There is ONE 5.56 load with apparently reliable counter-IV performance made by SIG. 97gr tungsten-steel double penetrator high pressure design. SOCOM allegedly loves it.If you need to bust IV at range, or prosecute higher armor, 5.56 is out, sorry.
>>65389056Also if anyone wants to counter this guy, the Gilliam 8002 is $628 a set and rated for exotic .300 winmag Swiss P AP and .416 Remington Magnum, among other shit like M995 / M993. Heavy and thick but the protection is very stiff.https://www.gilliamarms.com/products/model-8002-max-heavy-tungsten-rf3-silicon-carbide-ceramic-armor-plate?
>>6538905650 grain and as fast as you can make them out of 20"
>>65389093Only works against steel or titanium, and steel remains the majority of rifle plates in the US because they're cheap as hell, never go bad, immune to drops, and the general gun public still thinks ceramics are one shot only and break if you sneeze on them.Against ceramic you need a core.
>>65388912Despite "everyone having plates now" incidents involving people wearing plates are statistically insignificant.
>>65384159Can anybody point me in the right direction for any of these things>>65384176Thanks mane
>>65389112Becaise they sit in closets, lol
>>65387823I think their point is that whatever your reasons are for wanting ap capability, you aren't reasonably getting it in a rinky dink popgun pistol caliber
>>65389124>anybody point me in the right directionYou'd probably have some luck building the cartridge from scratch in GRT
Congratulations on letting a retarded bigger shit up the thread. Much like the United States, it was nice while it lasted.
>>65389161The point is to remain legal until it's time to not be legal. If .30 Tokarev ball ammo can penetate leve III armor, you can hand load a handgun cartridge that can too. That is until an urban youth moves the goal post to wearing a brick wall under your t shirt to go to the grocery store.
>>65389195Level IIIa yes, level III lmao no. IIIa is dime store junk even china can make right
>>65389204What loads are you currently developing?
>>65389195Yeah no you aren't popping level III with 7.62x25 Tok unless you use the tungsten carbide AP Stiletto Systems, in Ukraine, makes.>>65389204Correctamundo
RIP reloading threads the bunker trannies have found another white man's refuge.
>>65389204You can pop most IIIA with 50gr Liberty Civil 9x19
>>653892106.5cm load for 147gr eld's and some super hot .308. the .308 is in anticipation of some special srp cases I'll be getting in. Should be rad
Today I shoot my first actual batch of .45acp, fifty 230gn round nose rounds and ten 200gn swc rounds. All went right. Only issue was perhaps the semiwadcutter total overall length, need to work on it.Yes, I tumble my rounds, because I'm autistic.
>>65382174Velocity doesn't equate to pressure, right? Shot some 54R Winchester Metric 180gr through a 91/30 at about 2600~FPS with significant cratering. Then shot some Herters steel case 148gr at 2900~FPS, no cratering. IDGI.These were factory loads but I want to load my own 54R, already shot a couple test shots using pulled PPU rounds. Is this just more shitty Winchester ammo?
>>65390079I want to try some 200gr .45, the boomers at my range all swear by it as significantly lighter recoiling. How long are you tumbling your live rounds for? I've heard from some that it breaks down your powder, possibly leading to pressure situations. Still others say it's never been an issue for them.
>>65390250It's a lighter bullet, yes, and despite indications of giving them a higher charge, I kept the powder charge the same as the regular 230gn. Funny enough people at my range only claim them to be far more precise than regular round nose ones.I just tumble them for a few minutes to clean the lube and oil and make them look pretty.
>>65390079>total overall lengthWhat is it for each?
>>65390293>clean the lubeAre you not using carbide dies?
>>65390079is it just lighting/reflections being goofy or does the swc round have a sizeable dent on the right side of the case?in other news unless somebody else bids on this thing ill soon be the owner of a contender and will be ordering a new barrel for it. guess i need to email starline and ask if theyll ever be making 414 supermag brass again
>>65390524>dent on the right side of the case?NTA but >>65390079 appears to have a mild case bulge for each. Probably as a result of not enough bellmouthing/case mouth expanding before powder and bullet seating.
Sorry, please restrain yourselves from calling me an utter retard, I'm still a newbie, keep in mind it's my second time touching my reloading press.>>65390517Indeed! But for some reason (perhaps I didn't remove the all factory oil from the die) it came out dirty with oil.>>65390530And you would be correct! Guys at the range told me the same thing>>653905081,259 in (32mm) for 230gn rn
>>65390524Good luck man. I like my contender and need to pick up some different barrels for it, now that we’re not fire banned I’m hoping to finally fire it since I’ve got my wildcat recreation down.. 385 gn Great Plains muzzle loader bullets run through a .510 swaying die, loaded on 6.5 prc brass cut short and expanded out to .510…. Shooting for 1100-1200 fps, then redo the recipe with the fully fireformed rounds for 50 Alaskan mag.
>>65390734while yeah itll be exciting finally getting one to be like you with a goofy magnum, i definitely should have looked a bit closer before placing the bid because its a sub 100k serial# but it did at least go back to TC for the easy open conversionkinda hoping someone else outbids me on this so i can start over and try to go for a stainless or 400k+ frame to be more at ease with running the big stuff. or i just go ballin and run them regardless and just buy a new frame if this one finally stretches
>>65390815I think if your super worried that you might be able to run regular 41 magnum rounds in it although the bullet has to jump the distance into the throat. The brass dimensions should work. Also fwiw the pressure from 414 mag is higher than 44 mag, but 44 mag has a wider base…. The general thing with the contenders is that theirs a sliding scale of base size to max pressure before you start getting into ranges that can damage the gun.. so it’s definitely up there, but the smaller base acts as a smaller piston… also being straight wall helps as well. Tapered cartridges can focus more energy backward because the case expanding out also imparts downward force due to the very slight angle.. my gut instinct is you’ll be all right. Worst case start loading conservatively…. GRT is pretty useful for this.. I suspect quickloads is as well, but I’m too cheap to pay for quickloads so I don’t know for sure
>>65390232Not always, lightly touching the lands can increase velocity but if they're real jammed in some of the energy goes into deforming the case etc. It can have a high peak pressure at the start (to show pressure signs) but not a smooth high overall pressure down the whole tube which is what brings peak velocityAlso Winchester ammo generally sucks lol, not all of it but certainly 10x more problems than anything else
>>65391085It really is wild how far Winchester has fallen.
>>65390561>1,259 in (32mm) for 230gn rnMakes sense. What are the SWCs at?
I used an ultrasonic cleaner for the first time with some Lyman solution and didn't dry the brass well afterward. Some of the brass got these gnarly streaks of discoloration on them. It didn't buff off after a dry tumble. These are purely cosmetic issues here, right? Or did I compromise the brass?
>>65392354Yeah, it's just doesn't look pretty. NBD.
>>65392354its just tarnsh the streaks are where you had them laying down so thy ddint oxidize at the same rate as the exposed rest of the case
>>65392354If you see lube anon you should ask him about his ultrasonic cleaner.. I’ve got some but still haven’t picked up the cleaner, but the rest of his stuff worked great so I suspect the cleaner works as well. Also helps remove mineral deposits from your toilet after you finish cleaning ammo
>>65384159Unironically id try GRT. It gets parroted a lot but the software is free.. you need barrel measurements, bullet measurements cartridge measurements and cartridge capacity (weight of the amount of water it takes to fill case). You can plug all that into GRT and then play around with powders, seating depth and whatnot and gauge the predicted max pressure against the listed safe max for the actual ammo. Grt doesn’t really take the actual geometry of the cartridge into account so as long as the bullet that’s getting loaded is a solid cylinder as it enters the case it should model it fairly well…
>>65384159Also I’d buy a single stage press…. I’m running some errands but when I get home I’ll take a look at the rest of that. What’s the parent case for it?
>>65393459What are the fuckin odds>>6539346910mm Magnum
>>65393487What the fuck?!I guess ask the Discord where to download it then.
>>65393487Well shit. If you have the gun and don’t want to slug the barrel you can carefully measure the lands and grooves with a set of caliper… also if you have some soft pure lead bullets for muzzle loaders that are close to the inner diameter (but slightly bigger) you can lube one up and then just hammer one through the barrel with a dowel rod after taking the barrel out of the gun, then measure the rifling on that…
>>65393549Don’t want to cerrocast the barrel *
>>65384159You squeeze bigger bullets down.. Lee makes a die that holds inserts.. 91751 is the part number for a .307 diameter one. From there I’d try resizing 7.6 tok bullets (.310), 32 acp bullets (.309) or 30 carbine (.308). All of those can be sized down to .307 by brute forcing them through the bullet sizing die…. Looks like FK had the bullets made especially for them so that’s kinda tough…. I’d look for solid copper starting out (Lehigh penetrators) because you won’t have to worry about velocity.. on jacketed stuff if you drive it faster than its meant for you can start ripping jackets off, and if your using hardcast you have to match the velocity to the hardness so your not smearing lead down the rifling in your barrel…
>>65393505It's there, got it>>65393549I don't mind Cerrocasting but the cartridge measurements are on the CIP sheet >>65384164What's it lacking that Cerrocast would provide in this context? Besides a key for those un-legended letters under 'rifling' 'barrel' and 'grooves'>>65393582Very helpful, thanks!
>>65393582These for example would be fun and should be ok squeezing down by .001
Whats your guys' go-to wadding for fireforming brass?
I'm loading my first .223 rounds and I've scared myself.Got 68gr Hornady bullets and I'm using the Hornady manual to load them with 22.6gr of IMR 4895, the minimum load for that powder. I seat the bullet to the length the manual states (2.250) and hear a slight crunch. I've come to assume that the bullet compressing the powder is a max load thing, is that not true with .223/5.56? I keep checking my powder and I'm not any higher than the minimum. Am I freaking out too much over this?
>>65393606If the bullet goes far enough in the case you might be pushing powder up around it…but that isn’t necessarily compressing it. If the bullet is short enough that it isn’t touching the powder column then I don’t know.
>>65389112seriously, I can't find the cat face with the outreaching hands meme of "9 pellets of .32 caliber buckshot to your pelvic cradle meme", unfortunately casualties come in all variants and varieties, unless you're gonna coat yourself in ceramic and Kevlar like GQ regular, and weigh 70 pounds in armor none of it is going to matter anyway if shit goes sideways.the bastard isn't going anywhere if you blast it's foot or it's hand.
>>65393590I've looked around but haven't been able to find anything really suitable. The factory loads range from 95gr (JHP) to 101gr (copper), not sure how 85gr would fare but I'll write it downThe factory bullets are LONG, pic related (pic related is not my pic), virtually all pistol bullet offerings are little stubbos, and yes I am concerned about pushing them too fast tooAlso I just noticed those Lehighs are over $1 each. Factory loaded ammo is as low as like $1.30 so that's not sensible
>>65393643I didn’t realize they seated that deep.. I’m usually a straight wall cartridge guy. Theirs a cutting edge raptor bullet that’s 100 gn…. You can take the polymer tip out and run it as a hollow point.. since it’s meant for a .308 rifle your not going to drive it too fast (think it’s solid anyway)
>>65393653Fancy bullets get expensive.. I’d look at .308 bullets and see if you can find some with blunter ends… Sizing them down to .307 shouldn’t be too bad.
>>65393584Mostly just need it for the lands and groove dimensions, but you can slug the barrel more easily for those. If those numbers are accurate you can just use them, I just prefer to verify it myself when it’s dealing with explody stuff.
>>65384159On the brass end of things. Basically you’d lube a 10mm magnum cartridge then run it through the sizing die… first it might be too much of a jump to do in one go, in which case we need to find a different knecked cartridge that has the same outside diameter but fits a bullet that’s larger than .307. You get the sizing die for that and let it start moving the brass, then run it through your 7.5 fk die for the final size…. Then measure the length of what you end up with… it’ll be too long.. trim that distance off a fresh 10mm magnum case and run it through the same operation and it should be closer to the correct length… fine tune till it’s right.. if the intermediate sizing die is for a cartridge that is a lot longer then you may have to cut the bottom of the die off. I’ll give the books I’ve got a check and see if theirs anything common that pops up.. 8mm seems like a good start…

>>65379839Pelvic shots are far more effective than trying to get though that.
>>65393642You can buy a IIIA ballistic shield from Botach Surplus for $250 that covers most the body and will ignore that.
>>65393642The important thing is to really weigh yourself down and incumber your movement with a buch of junk that makes you slower and generally easier to shoot while beingess able to defend yourself. Also, I'm a huge Judas Preist fan. Why are they dressed like pilgrims in some scenes of the Breaking the Law video?
Stick powders are annoying.

Scared .223 anon here. Now all my reloads aren't chambering and I'm struggling to figure out why.
Here's an example of one of the loaded cartridges. I can't see any issues. If I was to guess it would be something with the case neck, but I don't know what.
>>65394562Have you tried using a hammer?
>>65394562>>65394568How did you size the brass? What load data for COAL are you using?
>>65394741Hornady 11th EditionI resized the die with the RCBS die set. I used some ancient case lube that seems really viscous, so that may be part of the problem.
I got some Imperial sizing wax and ran the round through the sizing die again. Looks like it is fitting as it should now. It seems I gotta better lubricate these cases when sizing them.Bottleneck cartridges are headache compared to straight walled stuff
>>65394568if your brass did not look like this before bullet seating then your bullet seating die is screwed in too much. I've done this too when doing initial set up and not reading the instructions properly (don't do initial setup steps when sleep deprived). You probably need to back the die out a full turn. Or you are not resizing properly because your resizing die is not screwed in enough in combination with a bullet seating die screwed in just too much for tolerances, which I've also done when trying to case sizing shenanigans for 303 Brit (again do not try doing die setup and troubleshooting while sleep deprived)
>>65394568Trick of the light? Or bulge?
>>65394568>>65394788I'm thinking either your resizing die is not set to the correct depth or as this anon says>>65395064If it's only after seating. But the shoulders are defo fucked.
>>65395107>>65395064Thanks for the tips. I'll keep tinker with it all and see if I can avoid this in the future. Learning a lot of lessons on all this really fast.
>>65393487>>65393505theres a kike war on the internet right now. kikes hate the free flow and transfer of information through unregulated channels they dont control. california just made a law that makes it a felony to share digital information about firearms and ammo maybe the guy pulled his shit after gettting threatened by a commie from the california doj
>>65379769I love CFE-223, but goddamn does it have a bad ammonia scent. I no longer run a brass catcher because of how bad it gets at indoor ranges even with the makeup air system I feel like i'm being pepperballed by a riot squad if I fire too fast. on the other hand I can't get enough of the scent of H110/W296, I love the burnt peppery scent, Kinda reminds me of a cold snowy day getting dropped off at school where the cars smelled a bit cherry like because the catalytic converters were different.R8 your favorite powder by scent burnt or unburnt. Desu, mine is H110 unburnt Kinda smells like DR. Pepper to me

>>65396248I want to give H110 a try, but I worry about how fiery it is (as in, H110 is a fire-breather). I've got some revolvers I run some hot .357 in, but I worry about flame-cutting. Is that only a problem with loads with light bullets?
>>65394562Don’t worry anon they that might happen. Smack that shit
>>65394562thats normal. just hammer it the rest of the way into that forming gauge and it will be good to go
To the anon who was talking about super heavy 45 acp, what bullet profile are you using by, because I got curious and tried it with a 300 gn wfngc and even though its significantly shorter than normal ball ammo it’s too wide and jams into the throat…. Tried a test fit round, no powder or primer, and didn’t crimp too hard and had to hammer the bullet out of the barrel…. Interesting idea though

>>65399442What COAL is that? I had to seat mine at 1.185" for 250 amd 260 grain bullets intended for Long Colt in my .45 Supers. I'm basing that on Sierra's COAL for 240gr .45 Auto load data. Their 240s have a similar profile, also intended for LC.
>>65396262H110 is great with 158gr in .357 and throws big fireballs with 125gr. I would not use it in my revolver with 110gr bullets out of an abundance of caution.Lil Gun is the powder most likely to kill your revolver.
>>65400275Agreed, I Run 15.5 Gr H110 under a 158GR jhp crimped to the cannelure, I can easily light off 6 accurately in a 3 inch Group at 30 ft with my late eighties early nineties Taurus 669. It's flashy but controllable, definitely no barn burner. Honestly I'm more worried about flame cutting on my heritage rough rider with the .22win mag cylinder, a couple 50 round boxes and I have at least a .030thou to .050thou crescent in the bottom of the top strap. Regardless I think the hot +p 125gR loads are definitely something to avoid I kinda remember some infamous load like starfire or something that was waaaayyy hot that got sold commercially something like a +p+ rating. anyhow I think if Ruger adopted the same technology that Smith and Wesson used for the 329PD's frame and flame cutting issue, they could build the worlds toughest revolver with a replaceable topstrap shield
>>65400275Lil gun is by far the powder I get the worst modeling with in grt..
Still working through the estate sale reloading lot. Making some .30-06 with these aged 220gr bullets.
