>tears the skin off your heelsWhy? Why can't everyone just wear adidas what the fuck is this boot bullshit
Im convinced the big boot has captured the military. What the fuck is this kiwi crap on this dogshit footwear
It's called ankle support you retard
>>65384822ex used to wear these in highschool
>>65384965Ankle support is a meme
>>65384822The foot and the boot are supposed to conform to each other, eventually. People just don't do anything physical anymore and have no idea.
>>65385188until you ruck through the woods with heavy gear on rough terrain. Been there, done that. They do work, but you already knew that you cheeky wanker. 5/8 made me respond.
>>65385196>ruckI don't know what your weird homosexual fetish terminology is and I don't want to know
>>65385194Boots are too big and will wreck heels, this is pretty much a given but people still buy stuff that doesn't fit properly
>>65384822Just stop being such a pussy. It's not hard.
>>65384822Maybe try not having little bitch skin? The callouses on mine were thick enough that whenever a shoe nail poked through a wornout dress shoe sole it never drew any blood.
>>65384822I have been wearing Rocky S2V since 2013 and never encountered this problem.
>>65384822Just don't get your foot wet and change your socks, simple ass.
>>65385188This desu. I used to work in an outdoor outfitter shop and the amount of people who thought they needed past-the-ankle boots to go hiking on-trail in a national park was ridiculous. Ankle-high boots are sufficient for like 90% of people going hiking or hunting, in fact you're more likely to roll your ankle in high boots if you're not actually trekking difficult terrain for days on end.Milsurp boots as in OP's pic (jungle boots i believe) are only necessary if you're LARPing or going trekking off-trail somewhere you expect will be muddy or wet.
>>65385465I have never rolled my ankle so much as when i was wearing combat boots>ankle supportWhat ankle support? Where is it? May i see it?You can fold those boots in half at the ankles, it's all soft fabric.
>>65385584Past the ankle-boots are only effective in uneven terrain but anybody's who's worn milsurp boots can tell you that you'll roll your ankle the second you step on a rock or slippery surface the wrong way. Besides that their purpose is mainly sanitary by preventing mud or water from seeping in and giving you trenchfoot. To-the-ankle boots are simply superior (iirc the Brits issued ankle-high boots during WWII) and can be combined with puttees for protection against mud or water.
>>65384967Was he cute?
>>65385817it was the all black one, it was when Doc marten quality had went to shitshe's Viet and does amateur wrestling
I get cheap milsurp boots because some of them are great for the worksite as well as motorcycle riding.
>>65385838gorucks and lems only cost like 3 of those when theyre on sale and have no break in
thick heels and high ankle was causing me pain with work boots, seems like a scamIf you need to go swamping or something then you need wadersYou can't walk in foot deep mud... stay out of it...
>>65384822>t. Has never walked on a surface other than pavement or turf in his lifePeople ITT saying ankle support is a meme are somewhat correct, but that’s not the only benefit of boots. Wearing low-cut footwear over rough terrain will drive you mad with how many tiny pebbles and burrs you pick up, unless you’re wearing some kind of gaiters — in which case why not eliminate a step and simply wear high boots?
>>65385847?Your pants go over your boots, how is anything getting inside?
>>65384965That doesn't exist.
>solves your non-issueno need to thank me :)
>>65385850you gotta duct tape your shit to keep tics and burrs from going up your ankle
>>65385850He's saying shit gets inside when you wear low cut shoes, not when you wear boots.
>>65385850do you have a learning disability?if there's a gap between the pants and the boots, stuff will go up, including bugs, sticks and dust. >tight combat boots keep all that away from your feet>tucked or pulled and tied pants keep it away from your legs
>>65385865>>65385856a 5 inch boot is optimal
>>65385870nah, ticks and chiggers crawl up your shit, even with permethrinhi top trail runner or 3 to 4 inch boot with duct tape
>tears the skin off your heelsive had this issue with two completely different military boots from different decades. after repeated use, there is a part of the insides of the boot the gets alittle bent over and then rubs your heel wrong, causes blisters and tears them up. It's on the inside of the boot right at heel level. You can fix it by carefully using a file on it to wear it down. It does not effect the longevity of the boots and the boots that have this problem have had longer lifespans than the more modern boots that havent.
>>65385838>some of them are great for the worksiteNever could get a pair to last personally.Have ended up just buying a new pair of Caterpillar "second shift" boots every ~9-12 months and throwing Dr Scholes insoles in them.I've tried them all. Redwings, Danner, etc., plus every surplus set you can find.Even tried Puma safety work boots once. For the most part they're all similar in terms of lifespan, just different in the way they're shaped, what callouses you end up getting and where, and how much they cost. The Cats seem to be the best balance of comfort, insulation, water resistance, durability, and cost for me so far, so I've just stuck with them because it's easy.
>>65385188Try to traverse something else than paved roads
>>65384822You gotta break in your boots, faggot. My black cadilacs are still the most comfortable footwear I have.
>>65384965Then why do all tier 1 guys wear low tops? Going all the way back to Vietnam and Rhodesia. Every ankle injury I've seen was by guys wearing 8" boots laced all the way up.>>65385465This jungle boots are only good in deep mud. >>65385847>burrs you pick upThis is the only issue with low boots. When I had to wear tall boots I would just lace them above the ankle and wrap the slack around before tying them. >>65385845Lems gang.
>>65384822>tears the skin offFirst of all, I'd like to make it clear that the heel of your falling off is not normal.Possible causes:>You're wearing the wrong size boots>You're wearing the boots wrong (wrinkled socks, not tying the boots correctly, etc)>Your feet are just a weird size or shape>Wet socks>You're just bitch-made and need to build up some callouses on those pampered feminine feet of yours
>>65386051>Never could get a pair to last personally.Bet you never polished them lmao
>>65386070>Then why do all tier 1 guys wear low tops? The fuck do you know about what tier 1 guys wear? Faggot.
>>65384822Idk why they didn’t just go with the Salomon Quest, it’s a ridiculously comfortable boot that feels lighter than it is and when you’re above 40lbs off trail it has saved my ankles a few times. t. Minor Achilles tear with low height trail runners and a 65lb pack
>>65386071Or cotton socks instead of wool and getting sweaty. (wet socks but people still don’t understand cotton sucks)
>>65386079I did in the past, when I was like 20. Very rapidly I stopped seeing the point of putting the effort in.I now waterproof them, but honestly only really during the winter. Any polishing pretty much gets ruined immediately when you get concrete juice all over them, or roofing tar, or hot asphalt, etc., it just strips the finish off and you're back to square one, if you can even get the shit off in the first place. It's just a losing battle. I'd have to sit down and do it every three or four fucking days, that's time I can't really spare as a late 30's dude with a family and responsibilities and all that. I honestly can't be bothered to give a fuck anymore.
>>65386104>that's time I can't really spareAre you fucking stupid? You don't need to fucking spitshine the fuckers. You just apply some polish and give it a quick brushing so it's not rubbing off on everything.Boot polish is full of shit that keeps the leather from drying out and cracking, that's the whole point of it.
>>65384822your shoes will be filled with dirt
>>65386139What the fuck good is ANY polish going to do when lime bicarbonate will just eat through the treated surface and into the leather underneath anyway? Is polish going to help when the soles get worn down or flat out melted from hot road surfaces? Is it going to prevent the steel toes from wearing straight through the leather after I've been walking through pits of rebar and abrading the shit out of them every day for five months? Why would I spend the fifteen minutes on this every other day when I could just not do that, get the same lifespan out of a pair, and have fifteen minutes to lay on the floor and not move or think instead?
>>65386059I do that literally every day, and have never felt the need for more ankle support.
>>65384822Low tier rage bait. You just don't know how to take care of your feet, size your shit and probably never rucked.
>>65386051>Never could get a pair to last personally.Loads of people do.>I've tried them all.If it's not the boot, it's you.Either you treat them like this, and it doesn't really sound like it if you go to the trouble of putting insoles in them.Or it's your worksite, what the fuck do you do?Wade through alkaline cement mud all day?
>>65386104>It's just a losing battle. I'd have to sit down and do it every three or four fucking daysOk, that's a problem.>that's time I can't really spare as a late 30's dude with a family and responsibilities...and that's the solution.Get your kids to polish your boots. If they're good kids, tell them it's because you're exhausted from work and they can help you earn the paycheck that pays for their roblox by polishing your boots once a week each.If they're brats then make it a punishment for fucking up, to go polish all the boots in your garage or something.
>>65384822Wear properly sized boots. Use a double sock system. Do your boots up tighter. Actually break them in.
>>65386186why don't you get a real job then, instead of something a robot will do in 5 years
>>65386083There's hundreds of pictures of them wearing everything from Chuck Taylors to Oakley "combat shoes". I've also seen them personally in Iraq and Africa and been jealous I had to wear Bates or Belleville.>>65386269It's going to be a long time before robots are cheaper than human labor that's more dynamic than an assembly line.
>>65385188not when you have 100lbs worth of shit on your back
>>65385188Czech'd. This website has fallen.Ankle support is for fat retards who have never worked out. They didnt give me laces when i started hockey and ive never twisted an ankle.
>>65386269Realistically by the time robots can do dynamic manual labor they'll already have replaced virtually everything else and 99% of the population will be unemployed, dynamic manual labor is one of the hardest fields to automate.
>>65386532>dynamic manual labor is one of the hardest fields to automateYeah, telling a guy to go do the fucking thing is going to be a thing for a lot longer than most jobs.Robots won't be that versatile for a long while and by the time they are?The other jobs will be gone too and if we're lucky, we're pod-meat living in a sim while our brains run datacentres that host the AI that serve the zuckerberg-altman dynasty. As a senior developer, I think my job is in more danger than most construction workers. There will be less of them because they'll be driving robots like they were apprentices, which they technically are, so one builder is going to be telling the robot to drive in bolts and shit according to some blueprint but it will be the human who makes sure that all the cables are coiled and stowed, the left-over concrete powder is cleaned up and scrap rebar cleared away before the robots go in to drive bolts and mate beams and whatever.
>>65386517Here’s your pat on the back your father never gave you champ
>>65386555Trips of truth. Shit man i thought that old bastard loved me for all these years
>>65386555>Here’s your pat on the back your father never gave you champCould have used one of those anon.Should I shitpost my own thread to get it?
>>65384822Look into duct taping the heel area with the most friction if these are daily wearers. I started doing it in basic on the concrete stompers they gave out during covid and never stopped. Downside is when the tape comes off it'll take a good chunk of the material with it
This is the only boot/style you ever actually need. Anything else is better done in an actual shoe. Boots are for when you're stepping through shit that would otherwise soak your feet entirely. "Military" boots are LARP faggot shit and big boot owns the military and various other industries.
>>65386788yeah ok brogo take a walk in the desert or the jungle with those, don't start crying when you want to quit
>>65386059your ancestors followed mammoths to places never seen by human eyes, wearing nothing but hard sandals. you don't need combat boots to carry your pots and pans ten miles into the woods.
>>65386799nice reading comprehension mr. zoomer
>>65386799You don't need boots in a desert. You need some regular ass hiking shoes. Jungles aren't all tropical hellholes and if it's that hot you just remove the insulation, if it's a wet enough jungle you'll be sinking in enough to need rubber. If not, hiking shoes.
>>65386269>why don't you get a real job then, instead of something a robot will do in 5 yearsout of curiosity, what job do you think is a good example for this?
>>65386909Human battery
>>65386069>black cadilacsI had a pair of those shits for months and they never broke in. Chucked them in the trash. Dogshit and the two piece sole design is retarded. A pair of jungle boots from 1968 were flawless except for the panama soles being awful on concrete. I regret selling them. I've done that twice to og jungle boots. Fuck!
>>65386071see >>65386024
>>65384822Can anyone recommend good safety toe boots? I need them for work.
>>65386070>Then why do all tier 1 guys wear low tops? Going all the way back to Vietnam and Rhodesia. Every ankle injury I've seen was by guys wearing 8" boots laced all the way up.They don't have to march farther than 10K with heavy ass packs
>>65387481MACVSOG did multiple day insertions all the time
>>65387409Steel Blue and Redback are popular here in Australia, most people tend to prefer the Redback for comfort on outdoors around worksites and the Steel Blue are pretty good for hard floors and moving around on vehiclesJust make sure they fit properly and I think both are sold in the US now
>>65385832Sick tuck job bro
>>65384822Because your job in the military is to fill out this tps reports, why do you need to concern yourself with what boots delta force has? No about those cover sheets , did you get the memo?
>>65384822Just wear something that fits your foot, retard. And if it doesn't, just wear it for long enough to toughen up the skin.Hell, if that doesn't work, just tape your foot up where the boot fucks your skin. I always carry a roll of medical tape in my backpack. If you get the good shit, it'll stick to your foot for days, even through showers.
>>65385847>why not eliminate a step and simply wear high boots? Because you can take off gaiters if you don't need them, but you are stuck with shin-height boots. A not-insignificant number or soldiers preferred short boots and puttees over taller boots, even if puttees were tedious to wrap.
>>65386269Because I made 173k in 2025 doing this "fake job"(?), you fucking clown. I have just about every CompTIA cert you can get as well, but guess what? Everyone I know who also has those things, as well as a bachelor's, is unemployed right now and trying to figure out what the fuck they're going to do.If you can figure out a way to automate the skilled labor I'm capable of doing, you'd be hailed as the father of the next industrial revolution.
>>65387556>>65385847heres a simpler questionwhat does everyone wear during PT and JRTC exercises?
>>65385401These are basically ankle high sneakers
>>65387671>what does everyone wear during PT and JRTC exercises?adidas
>>65384822>tears the skin off your heelsYes, that will happen if you're a soft-skinned soi faggot, which (You) are.
>>65387705What makes you say that, not rigid enough?
>>65387409I have been using Thoroughgood for 15 years now (3 pairs), and I like how they wear and fit me. I have tall arches and very wide feet, but I do recommend working with a good boot shop to see what’s going to fit your specific foot properly. Not every brand fits every foot equally well.
There's a chance someone here doesn't know about Danners Tachyons>A boot first. A sneaker second.>We didn't get our chops building athletic shoes. We make boots. So when we decided to create a lightweight trainer, we took our 80-plus years of experience and created a boot that acts like a shoe, not a shoe that acts like a boot.I've worn Tachyons for over a decade and the only times I've done otherwise was because I had to wear cold weather boots.Reject the false sneaker-boot dichotomy.
>>65384822Wear the right size and wear wool socks.>we only have full sizes, Marine Well fuck.
>>65388711Based, tachyons are goated
>>65384822I worked directly on my feet for 20 years mostly on a brush crew. The black reebok sold as a high top safety shoe LACED ALL THE WAY is the single best, toughest, and most safe ofotwear for anything. I never see em outside work shoe catalogs.
