How in depth is the Secret security clearance? I've skimmed the SF86 form, and it seems like you just have to prove what you've been up to and where you've lived for the last ten years. What happens if you get denied? Do you get to go home, or are you stuck in a "needs of the military" job?

Yeah maybe in 2021-2022 you could have done training, seasoning orders, grind till military ATP mins and get hired by a 121. These days you aren’t getting hired with 750. But if you grind hard in the guard you can be in the airlines at year 5 rather than year 10. The catch is all the guard commitments (it’s def more than a weekend a month, 2 weeks in the summer, but saavy pilots can make it make more convenient). All the old timers that are mainline pilots love to bitch how they are losing money every time they are at the unit. They are right especially since mainline CA at Delta can earn hundreds of dollars per hour.Another thing is that a significant majority of AD pilots are Academy grads that didn’t plan on becoming pilots, it’s just something that happened to them. It’s absurd but it’s true. The amount of Academy grads I meet that never heard of the Guard or just wanted to play sports in college is astounding.
