>A U.S. Marine Corps F-35C stealth fighter jet launches from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) as the aircraft carrier transits the Arabian Sea and supports the U.S. blockade against Iran. The best F-35 variant coming through: https://x.com/i/status/2083936817561080120
>>65390847In 10-15 years, the oxide patina on F-35s will transit from Chinkshills and Ziggers crowing, "LOL MUTT PLANES ARE RUSTING," to Gen Beta and Gen Gamma regaling the look with their equivalent of "VGH, SOVL."
>>65390847All I have to say is: F-35 gijinka drawn with a gyaru tan when?
>>65390857Patina = #tanlinesanon, have you ever gotten tested for a 130 IQ?
>>65390868I know, I know, I've already bothered an artist suggesting it.
>>65390847why the desert tan camo at sea?
>>65391166>tanchecked, nice vid OPWhat is up with the tan / rust splotched panels on the airplane?
>>65391190Iron rusts.
>>65391190The ocean is a miserable bitch that hates anything made of metal. RAM has metal in it so it corrodes. Super Hornets also corrode, as does everything else at sea, but it isn’t as visible because their top layer is regular paint and can be more easily maintained or touched up, which you can’t do with RAM without possibly compromising radar return. Stealth aircraft are universally worse to maintain because there’s so much more to do to keep their coatings in shape. Material science advances have mitigated this but it will probably always be an issue.
Not that it matters but surely anywhere there's rust means the stealth coating isn't working in that area?
>>65390847>Marine Corps >F-35CWhy do they use the C? I thoughtt they got the special needs B version?
>>65390847Why are there so many guys doing nothing?
>>65391210The rust in the RAM does basically nothing to the performance.
>>65391210Nobody here knows what exactly the coating is made of or how it works, but what makes you think the rust straight up disables it?
>>65391210The material should still absorb radar energy. On the F-35 we know that the RAM is more than just the skin, with even structural composites being designed as radar absorbent. Then on top of that the biggest thing that makes stealth aircraft stealth is the shaping that actually determines where radar is reflected away from the source.
>>65391210Stealth isn't an on-or-off thing
>>65391219yeah it is just press L1
>>65391212>Why do they use the C?Because the Marines made and agreement with the Navy that they would IIRC 2 squadrons of F-35C on the Navy's super carriers, and the Navy would cover the rest.>I thoughtt they got the special needs B version? They do, but those are for the flattop carriers. The Bs were really a bong and US Marine joint venture.
>>65391210>>65391215>>65391218>>65391219In this particular case the discussion on whether the RAM coating degrades when rusted is kinda irrelevant, because that F35 has external hardpoints with missiles hanging off it and thus its stealth is severely degraded to begin with.
>>65390857TUMMY
>>65391218>fat amy>has a high BMI
>>65391358No they don't.
Fellas, I gotta say it. Turning military hardware into anime women is kinda weird.
>>65391329So they develop a special VTOL variant, and then don't use it because they can have CATOBAR squadrons?Don't get me wrong, the C is the best F-35 (bigger wing, more internal fuel, the A version should just use that wing with the Navy foldling shit removed)And I'm sure the B version is great for all the smaller carriers out there, and LLLHD etc.I just don't understand what the Marines are doing. Or why they're doing what they're doinng.
>>65391419Marines have operated squadrons off carriers forever and are just continuing to do what they’ve already been doing.
>>65391423>not asking for advice on /k/ first
>>65390847>Marine Corps fighting off navy carriers like it's 1942So are they there to simply relieve the airforce squadrons or are they gearing up to take over air duty in preparation for the ground invasion?
>>65391366
>>65391423>how to pressure IranUbi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant.
>>65391423If a ground invasion is out then the only other way is to start a drone based strategic bombing campaign and just accept that it will take years to see results (and that those results will include a major humanitarian crisis)
>>65391373>S-band: 2-4 GHz>X-band: 8-12 GHzWhat were these thirdie retards thinking when they optimized their planes for VHF/UHF bands no one uses for radar?
>>65391460Marines have always had their own squadrons on carriers, this isn't anything new.
>>65391460>carriers like it's 1942Marine squadrons never never left the carriers...
>>65391669Well yes, but wouldn't it be more efficient for the Marines to concentrate on their own version from the LHDs, and let the Navy do Navy things with Navy palnes?
>>65391680The squadrons on carriers used to operate legacy hornets, no point in replacing them with F-35Bs when Cs exist.
>>65391680I'm not sure how the F-35 changes things, but historically the Marine Squadrons were directly focused on interdiction and air attack. Just in case the Navy wanted to prioritize air frames to another task and lose focus on the guys on the ground. So long as you have a Marine Air Wing, you have CAS
>>65391203Yes. That wasn't the question
>>65391423Cannot wait for them to start hitting more of your civilian infrastructure. It’s been a very civilized approach thus var
>>65391419>So they develop a special VTOL variant,That was more for the UK, and US Marines secondary. But, they're still using and buying B versions as the bulk of their fleet.>and then don't use it because they can have CATOBAR squadrons? They've always them with the F/A-18s. They're only buying like 40 C models to have two West coast and two East coast squadrons to provide tactical air support for the super carriers.

>>65391605You bomb their oil drilling sites, their pipeline pumping stations, their storage vats, and their tanker ships. No more oil, no more money, no more government, no more Iran problem. Saudis currently begging the US to not do this, because Iran will hurt their oil production in response. The tension is between the US wanting to end it fast and not wanting to destroy oil output from the middle east, but such a destruction is beneficial to the US as the now dominant oil supplier, and Venezuela opening up again allows it to have the most oil to sell at this new high price. If China can't convince Iran to back down then it also loses out on hundreds of thousands of barrels a day it buys from Iran, for at least the next ten years as the oil industry would have to rebuild from the ground up.
>>65391680The Marines operate catobar and stovl planes, and use them differently. While almost all F/A-18s the Marines operate are land based, you'd still need F-35Cs to match those planes in all situations. So, for instance, if Marines were needed to deploy three squadrons to an important island, they could choose two F/A-18 squadrons and an F-35 squadron. Putting F-35Bs on that island wouldn't make much sense, their range is significantly smaller than a hornet with drop tanks. And if you don't buy F-35Cs then the Marines can never deploy F-35s alongside their carrier based hornets.
>>65392765Yes, RAM paint suffers from cosmetic oxidation after extended periods at sea. Makes you wonder why we never see anything like that on the J-35. Is it because they're not stealth or because they never spend time at sea? Trick question, it's both.
>>65393636US is still too pussy to just wipe out Iranian infrastructure and food processing in order to exacerbate a crisis that will collapse the regime in 5-10 years. They should at least just let Israel do it, which they've said they'd be glad to do, but Trump still won't allow it.
>>65391373So does that mean every stealth fighter can attach small heat seekers without gaining any significant RCS?

>>65393936Not without extensive R&D to minimize RCS increase. There's a reason the outer air-to-air (AIM-9X) pylons and rails look the way they do on an F-35.
>>65390852Well...some of Gen Beta anyway. Can't account for contrarianism.
>>65391358Not all the time. If the F-35 is in stealth config the pylons are replaced with flat panels covered in RAM.
